Poured from the 330ml bottle into a tall pils glass.

A: The beer is dark brown, flat cola looking, little carbonation visible. Head is light tan and 3 fingers thick.

S: Smells strange, but aroma is overall very faint. Clear bottle may have cause the beer to be lightstruck/skunked smell. Grass. Some roasted malts. Light hint of dark bread.

T: Intro is light with grainy notes.turning smooth and somewhat malty in the midpalate. Molasses. Finish is roasted malt, and maybe pumpernickel. Toast. As the beer warms it becomes a bit more astringent, though still ok.

Mouthfeel: Average. Smooth. Carbonation is evident but not cloying.

Drinkability: An easy drinking beer that has a good taste to it, thought the clear glass bottle puts one off the smell. For now.

Oct. 2009: 330 ml clear bottle, brought home from Turkey by my wife. ABV is 6.1%. Dark reddish brown colour, big greyish beige head. Smells "thin" and metallic, also notes of cooked vegetables and wet cardboard. The flavour is first tolerably malty with notes of brown bread and some caramel, without being very sweet. Some fruity acidity in the middle. Dull finish, minimal hops. Clearly drinkable, but boring. Don’t expect to find anything much better than this in Turkey, though.

On tap. A pleasant table beer that went OK with a Mediterranean meal.
While Look and Smell are undistinguished, the Taste of this malty beer never gets sweet and actually finishes semi-dry; indicating to me that the hops were used well. A rather thin body seals the deal on not having this again.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Columbia, SC. The appearance is a clear dark brown with a small off-white head. The aroma is weak by most beer standards, faint malt. The taste is sweet malt with some chocolate. Tastes slightly different from how I remember it while in Turkey.

Poured a clear ruby chestnut brown color with almost no head. Definite chocolate in the nose, with cherries. It tasted like a clean lager, with prominent roasty malt, cocoa, and a bit of tart cherries. A hint of staleness. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Fairly dry finish.

Pours dark brown in color, clear, with minimal head. Taste is chocolate, caramel, and sweet malt. Very light bodied, but flavorful. It seemed at times I was drinking a lighter schwarzbier. Yasty and one I would get again if I wanted the style.

Bottle from Tres Bonne Cuisine. Color and pour about right for the style. Aroma is mostly malt, but reminds of wet paper and school paste. Taste is initially very sweet with some hints of malt and chocolate, but really tastes like cola. Finishes dry and sticky, with more of the cloying sweetness. Near miss.

Dark brown, minimal light penetration with a fingernail of creamy tan on top. The aroma is best described as a blend of caramel, dark malt, and oxidation (AKA: skunk). I taste caramel and intensely dark malt. It is a bit one note. The mouth is lightly chewy and otherwise light.
