England is rightly famous for its traditional draught ales, full of hop character, but moderate alcohol content; the kind of beer Dickens' Mr. Pickwick would have enjoyed. Our Best Bitter is a tribute to these ales, with a blend of malts creating a deep copper colour and full, rich flavour. This is balanced by enough hop flavour and aroma to make it earn the title "Best" Bitter.

Pours deep reddish amber with a decent parchment coloured head. Lacing is moderate. Aroma sweet - breads, caramel. Flavour balanced with clean hop bitterness - a slight floral quality. Medium body.

Tasted from the brewpub in downtown P'boro.

Deep amber pour with a creamy white head that left a few spots of lace on the glass. Lemony-floral aroma with some nice malts in the background. Nice clean bitter taste with a touch of sweet bread and toffee. Again with some floral and citrusy hopping, but balanced in the English fashion. Medium body and carbonation.

I thought this one was a pretty good example of the style, and reminiscent of many beers I've had in England. It would probably make a good session beer, and would be much improved on cask.

Again, served at Hot Belly Mama's. Caramel colour, with a decent head. Again, long lasting. Smells simple. Citrus, malts, and some floral. Tastes good. Again, simple. Not quite sweet, not quite bitter. Excellently balanced. Mouthfeel is light and not quite crisp. Another session ale, and with the low abv dare I say a perfect session ale.

Lower than average alcohol, drinkable bitter. A palate cleaner. No smell, some ofsetting malt and citrus and acidic from hops. Thin-Medium mouthfeel. Dare I say a session ale? Light caramel colour. Does the trick, but average. Understated carbonation.
