Perhaps the finest Mexican pilsner-type beer. Straw color. Pours with a white head that quickly dissipates to a thin collar of foam. Starts just a bit sweet but ends with a nice dash of spicy hops and a respectable amount of bitterness. Low marks for appearance -- at least if this supposed to be a Vienna-style lager -- which it clearly is not. Perhaps I'm reviewing the wrong beer?

Appearance – This one is light yellow in color with a smallish head.

Smell – There’s a faint grain aroma here to go with the sugary sweetness, which seems to be the main attraction.

Taste – The grain was just plain nasty at the taste and the sweetness reminded me of a Pixie Stick I left outside in the rain once when I was a kid.

Mouthfeel – This sample from Mexico is light-bodied and fizzy in the mouth.

Sinkability – This one lacks substance and winded up in the pipes.

The appearance is of a pretty typical pale lager.

The nose is suprisingly good. Fragrant floral and citrusy hops, probably of the Noble varietal. Reminds me of a weak pale ale.

Taste is flavorful, light bodied with honeyish malt, floral and citrus notes throughout and a nice, subtle hoppy finish. It has somewhere between a white wine and a mead quality that is actually quite interesting. It has a few layers, that is.

It could be cleaner, but I have to say this one caught me off guard. Well done.

This is a pale gold beer with not much head and liveley carbonation. I can't smell anything really beyond the giant lime wedge that was perched on my glass so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt and rating it average. I did pick up some musty grain smell.

The taste here is a bit tangy, (no I didn't put the lime in) something I look for more in a mexican lager than vienna but I'm not splitting hairs. The brew is light and sweet, slick and springy on the tounge, and goes down smooth.

My absolute favorite Mexican beer! The pour is a nice medium gold color that leaves great lace on the glass. The smell has slight citrus notes with a crisp malt scent that is very inviting. Flavor is out of the park with a nice mild hop bite in the front followed by a excelent subtle malt sweetness mixed with perfect carbonation levels in the finish. Perfect pairing with any spicy food or if you need a refreshing beverage on a warm day, look no further!

Had this at a Mexican restaurant in Kittery. Pale yellow color with a very small head. Poured the second bottle more aggressively, still a small head. Little aroma, some sweet corn. The taste was faint malt with a tiny hops presence. Thin mouthfeel. It did, however, pair well with my enchiladas verde.

Presentation: 12oz short & stubby brown bottle with a gold foil neck.

Appearance: Bright, clear golden in colour. Large carbonation bubbles. Creamy thin white head that clings on the glass.

Smell: Very clean aroma, just a touch of sweet grain in the background.

Taste: Body is light, mouthfeel is very smooth and very creamy. Touch of bready sweetness that is even, flavourful and goes faintly fruity -- in a soft, gentle sweet peach kind of way. The faintest hint of smooth vanilla hides amongst the light sweetness, but then it's lost almost instantly and the bready sweetness pulls thru for a second round. Light grain follows. Hop bitterness is also light with a slight twang of zesty hop and floral flavour which are quickly subdued. Finish is quite clean with some light residuals.

Notes: Before anyone says anything ... yes, this is a Vienna-Style Lager. There are quite a few Mexican lagers that are, but that's a history lesson within itself. Back to the beer ... without a doubt one of the best mass-produced Mexican lagers available. Just had one of these with a rice, bean and cheese burrito covered in peppermash salsa. It quenched, quelled and complemented quite nicely.

12 oz brown bottle with no freshness date. Very thin white lacing though it sticky quite well.

Slightly earthy hop with a spicy back, is this dry hopped or is it hop extract. Thick sweet graininess wraps around the hops to make the aroma somewhat intriguing.

Clean palate, perfect with all spicy foods and not just Mexican. Thin maltiness holds on to a sweet graininess, hops are not there just for the bitterness. Bitterness balances very well and there is a level lingering flavour of earthy floral hop. Clean dry grainy finish.

This is my top pale Mexican beer without a doubt.

12 ouncer sampled, no freshness dating observed. Pours very light straw, slight chill haze, slight white head, leaving just a tad of lacing. Just a few lazy bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Nose is corn/rice like. Just a typical macro lager going on here, lawn mower brew, or ice cold with some spicy mexican food. Besides that, pass this one by.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into a tall glass.

Appearance: Clear, light yellow with bubbly white head that mostly recedes.

Smell: Mostly hay and grass, with some spicy hops. Minimal fruitiness.

Taste: Very grassy with only a tingle of apple. Ends with a light spicy and metallic bitterness.

Feel: High carbonation, light body. Semi-dry finish.

Drinkability: Very light, easy drinking Pilsner. Not very exciting, but it does what it does quite well. Could drink a lot of these.

Very unimpressive beer. No real body to it. Pours clear brown with a short-lived off-white head. Moderate lacing. Grainy, straw aroma with a handful of corn. Watery, bubbly mouthfeel. More hay and grain in the taste, and a metallic aftertaste. Bland.

served into mug from 12oz.brown bottle crimped cap at Mexican restaraunt,a bit on the cold side mug was chilled not frosted.

Clear, light golden color, large bubbles on sides of glass, small tiny bubbles stringing from the center of the glass.Thin white, head dissapating quickley,2nd beer was better about 1/2" head lasted a bit longer. Some spotty lacing on sides of glass.

A crisp, clean citrusy aroma, also carmelly, more carmelly nose as the beer warms. Good aromas as compaired to most Mexican beers.

Clean, snappy citrus bite,a bit grapefruitty, wasn't malty at first, more malt tastes as it warms and mid taste malt flavors.A good clean, fresh citrus taste to the finish. Overall a nice balance to this beer.

A clean, light mouthfeel, pleasing and refreshing, very drinkable.A good Mexican session beer very enjoyable citrus bite really adds to drinkability. A forum post said this was the Best Mexician beer, made me give it a try. I'd have to agree with this.

Very quaffable beverage. Nice initial crisp flavor with an a nice subtle bite. Hint of honey, and the toasted grains are present, with an almost "invisible" floral aftertaste. Lightly carbonated, and when poured doesn't get too much head. The smell is grainy and malty, but after letting the beer breathe, more scents come through, slightly citrusy. One of the better beers Mexico has to offer.

One of the better Mexican beers out there. Nothing unique or falling short appearance or aroma wise. Standards.

Taste is a pleasant surprise, nuanced pilsner flavor, zippy, with some different things going on I can't put my finger on, but its far more complex/involved than the majority of pilsners, especially from this neck of the woods.

Whatever the complexities, they play nice throughout the bottle. Amounts to good drinkability. This is a favorite with Mexican food, along with Negra Modelo.

Clear medium gold, darker than straw with a thinnish pale head. Simple laces on the glass. Scant aroma, slightly bready with a bit of tanginess. Light mouthfeel with lively but not overbearing carbonation. Starts with brown sugar flavors and a slightly grainy texture, dries a bit by mid mouth with just the mildest hops. Finish is quite clean, some of the earlier texture remains but much of the flavor has passed you by. Actually a fairly drinkable brew, if pretty unremarkable in most categories.

I don't generally drink Mexican beers, and this was the first time I tried this brand and beer. I was quite surprised at how pleasant it was. This seemed like a light lager by appearance and taste, though the head was a little lacking. Consequently, the body was found to be light, yet the beer was flavorful, with a nice, almost malty, finish. The mouthfeel was similar to what one would find in most of the American large brew beers. Very drinkable and enjoyable!

Just slightly paler than amber, this beer is on the darkest side of yellow. It maintains a certain clarity, too, translucent but leaning more transparent. The head is a whitish cap reaching half a finger with good retention and somewhat better than decent coverage in terms of lacing.
It's a little grainy underneath, but it does have more Noble hops than I expect. It has a little bit of a peppery bite with some dry grass and a little damp earth. It goes a little sweet on the nose, more so than the tongue, but it's not corn. Malts, after the sweetness, go about medium-dry in the flavor. The finish offers more of a floral note with just a little of the running grains note continuing through.
It's crisp, light-bodied but not watery, and fairly smooth; all said, pretty refreshing. The grains do keep it from being completely clean.

What's this? A beer called Bohemia...and made in Mexico? Will wonders never cease. Even more wonderful, despite the fact it looks like your typical crummy Mexican lager, this one's actually not half bad. Nice sweet smell, a bit more malty and flavorful than most of the Mexican beers I've become used to, and the detectable presence of a hop or two.

Actually a nicely quaffable little brew. Really surprisingly good.

This poured to a bright yellow and gold color with plenty of head. It didn't last too long and it didn't leave much lace either.

There is definitely some of the corn grain taste in there, but it's not too bad. It finishes like a relatively classy lager. It feels nice in the mouth and is really drinkable, especially in warm and hot weather.

Always get at least a 6 pack of this when I am down in Mexico for work.

A: Pours a clear yellow/gold color with a one finger, white foamy head on top. Pretty good retention, but minimal lacing.

S: A hint of hops with some floral notes and a bit of spice. There is a sweet malt aroma and some bready/doughy malt as well.

T: On the sweet side with a heavy malt bill. Lots of bread with a little bit of corn and some nice hops that come through as a bit of lemon and a touch of apple.

M: Medium bodied, with a nice crisp mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation.

O: One of my favorite Mexican beers. Most of my favorites are from the Bohemia line in fact. This one is easy drinking with a slight hop presence and a nice malt backbone.

This is a staple for me whenever I go to any mexican restaurant. It is actually one of my favorite session beers. It pours a nice clean pale golden color white a white foam head. Smell is very clean as is the taste. The taste is complex by any means but I love the sweetish clean flavor of this beer, very inoffensive. Mouthfeel is decent as is drinkability. This is certainly not a top 50 brew but I'd never turn this down. One my of guilty pleasures.

12oz bottle with cool styling. no freshness date.

App: pale golden with head that lasts 10 secs.

Smell: Sweet grain. Maybe a bit of a corn smell? faint floral hops.

Taste: greeted by a husky malt taste. next comes a vegetable taste reminiscent of celery and carrots. Awful. But as I drink the taste subsides, and the flavor is dominated by a nice hop bitterness. After the strange veggie phase of 2-3 sips, it turns into a decent pils. As I finish the veggie flavor returns.

Crisp pils mouthfeel, but the combo of light flavor, high carbonation, and hop bitterness give it too much of a bite.

In a pinch this could be my pils fix.

poured a nice golden color into glass with a nice white 1 finger head that quickly dissapted.. a little darker than your average lager.. head settles at a thin film..

smelled of sweet fruity malts..very earthy..mild hop presence is a very welcoming smell..i also got a good floral smell with a bit of caramel in there.. nice smelling brew..

sweetness up front..then you get a quick hop bitterness that settles down with a lemon zest after taste.. a very refreshing beer.. not too much flavor but doesnt miss any flavor.. very earthy taste.. zesty and fresh.. lovely beer

mouthfeel is light to medium with good carbonation..

drinkability is high for this german style pilsner.. i love it..

cheers!!

A - Crystal clear bright dandelion yellow with no trace of a head. No lace either.

S - Slight hints of clean hops, and a bit of citrus. Not much smell at all really.

T - Sharp, clear, biting, and quenching. Pilsener-like hops, but very subdued with absolutely no trace of an aftertaste....this might be one of the cleanest finishing beers ever. Much more flavorful than it is aromatic. This went excellently with salsa and tortilla chips.

M - Light in body, but nicely structured...it does have some substance, unlike a lot of other Mexican and American lagers. Thirst quenching, highly carbonated, and clean.

D - Good with Mexican cuisine or when baking yourself out by the pool. Not very interesting, but worlds better than any other Mexican lager I've had.

My mom is totally into Mexican beers - corona light being here favorite...I know, like a garlic necklace to most of you out there. A surprising step up for her.

Pours a pale, transparent corn yellow with a fizzy, white head. Nose is a little astringent with some skunked malt. Tastes like a sweet malt liquor - skunky, sugary corn, favorably less skunked than Corona. Better than I remembered it last Spring Break in Lake Havasu CIty, AZ before I became enlightened and was on a Mexican beer binge, but certainly doesn't compare well to the Sam Adams Boston Lager I had earlier in the night. Thin and bubbly mouthfeel. The best of Mexican macro lagers I've had thus far though, if that's any consolation...
