This is one of a kind in the fact it stands out among mexican beers as more European type beer (Most commonly considered a Vienna style) but still retains a dominant focus on mexican beer culture: It copes with the heat.

Translucent gold with a thin layer of foam on the top of your glass in the same fashion some of the European lagers this beer can be associated with, the smell and taste are gentle and perhaps faint for some tastes yet the the sensation is what stads out: It is quite soft as it goes down and it is quite refreshing served cold on an iced pint on a very hot day, and it pretty much goes with any spicy food or meat dish.

Still the king of mexican beers as far as I'm concerned, exceptionally smooth, not watered down like Corona or cheap tasting like Tecate, Carta Blanca etc. Color is darker than your average lager, great in a frosted mug.

Many mexican restaurants in Texas will carry this beer. One warning, since this beer is not as well known as other mexican brews, it may have been sitting in the storage room for a while. Like all beers, if it's old it may start to get a bit skunky. If you get a bottle from a fresh batch, you will not regret trying it.

Go figure...a TexMex joint with tulip glasses, niiiice. Heavy pour does not yield much of the fluffy bone-white head, but the beer is a nice clear dark yellow color. Head dissipates fast and does not leave much in the way of lacing.

Nose is faint, but still smells better than nearly all Mexican lagers. Most noticeable is a mild grassy hop presence. Mixes with a light sweet maltiness and just a hint of sulfur.

Tasty. This is a delicate beer that deserves more attention than it gets. Has more hop flavor than actual bitterness, and actually leans toward the hoppy end of the lager spectrum. I am guessing it is saaz hops I am digging on here, it is very refreshing and crisp. Has a very Czech feel to it. I also like the yeast strain they use, it adds some light fruitiness and a creamy feel. Finishes pretty dry and is light to medium-light bodied. A tad fuller than most Mexican lagers.

This is a real treat from Mexico. I do believe this is the best export our neighbors to the south have to offer.

Lighter malt aroma that adds nicely to the drink. Nice full head. Clear light gold color. Taste is a little drier than many in style, but not sharp or bitter, which I think is why it goes so well with many foods. Good mouth feel, without excessive carbonation. A satisfying lager.

I do not know why this beer is cataloged as not reccomended, but I do reccomend it. PErhaps one of the best MExican beers, or one of the less awfull. It has a bitter tatse but a sense of it is dark remains until you see it, it is clear. The problme is that is considered a craft beer and it is not.

This is probably my favorite macro Mexican beer, along with Indio and Dos Equis Ambar (all from the same brewery).

Has a nice goldish yellow color, bubbly. Good head and a trace of lace.

Hoppy in aroma, with a grainy touch (as the adjunct it is).

Lightly bitter, refreshing in a hot Mexican afternoon. Little dry aftertaste.

Acidic, malty mouthfeel.

Nice and smooth.

¡Salud!

Sad pour. Light straw yellow with a small head that dies quickly.

Nice smell. Mixed between a good Euro pils and a good American Vienna. Grainy malt and a kiss of hops and lots of fruit.

Tastes fantastic! Jesus god where does this all come from. It's like grapefruit hops without the bitterness. A rosegarden. All sorts of fancy herbs and spices mixed with wonderful malt and grain. Nice nice nice.

You can't judge a beer by it's color, I guess. One of the tastiest brews I've had in a while.

Nice Lager pour, very vibrant yellow in color. Reminiscent of sunshine when held under a light! Carbonation looks extremely well done, and the streams are impressive. Large lively white foamy head as well. Good appearance. Smell is very non offensive. It's subdued, but still plenty aromatic. Light citrus hop profile, a hint of bananas, and grassy malt. Not bad. Now let's check out the taste. Taste is crisp and smooth. Upfront has a semi sweet/sour rush of grassy malt, grain, and tangy citrus. Midway, the light citrus/floral hops take over, allowing the drink to finish with a receding pleasent citric bitter. A mexican beer with hops!!! It's a miracle, and a damn good one at that. Mouthfeel is right on for the lager style, providing adequate carbonation and palate tingles. Drikability is good, you could definitely drink a few.

An awesome Mexican beer, and a wonderful exmple of the Vienna Lager style as well. This was tasty, and I recommended it.

Consumed 10/25/08.

Poured into a pilsener glass, this beer is clear medium golden hue. Plentiful bubbles rise throughout the glass, but there is very little head; just a smidgen of off-white foam that nevertheless clings to the sides of the glass to give some lacing.

Aroma is light with grassy and citrus notes. Subtle malt as well. Nice.

The beer is slighty chewy as it enters the mouth; unexpected and pleasing! Finishes slightly dry.

Flavor is crisp with light toffee and caramel malt flavors and subtle grassiness and lemon/lime zest. Might have picked up some corn or wheat but not positive about that. Lingering, well-executed bitterness on finish.

Of the readily available German style pilseners in my neck of the woods, this one is certainly right up there as a first choice.

This is probably one of the best Mexican beers. Its a Pilsner in true tradition of a Bohemia style hence the name. Not as popular as your mass produced and advertised Mexican beers.
Very good medium taste yet easy to drink in hot weather and with spicy food. Always very consistent.

Its funny that the locals in Mexico joke that Corona is Donkey Pee and should only be exported put they'll keep the Bohemia and Victoria any day.

Next time you go to a Mexican restaurant I encourage you to skip the Corona/Dos Equis Etc. and give it a try.

Cheers

Very impressed with Bohemia. I really hope it catches on as a Mexican beer, because it steps up the beer game. It is a favorite of mine for many reasons.
The smell is good. The taste is unique...a hint of potency, and a hint of sweet. Similar to Negra Modelo, but has its own style for sure. I always look twice in the stores just to make sure I didn't pass it up. I really enjoy Bohemia, there is no doubt about it.

Poured with little to no head, the beer is clear and golden. It has a straw-like scent with an underlying floral hint. Taste is refreshing, I could see drinking this more regularly in the summer.

I've had only three Mexican beers in my life. The first two were Corona and Dos Equis; Bohemia is by far the best of the three.

Bohemia is a flower amongst weeds when it comes to beers produced in Mexico; not that there aren't a few other good ones here and there, but for the most part there are more bad than good.

It pours a crystal-clear deep gold body beneath an average-sized head of bright white foam. The retention is very good, but it leaves only very minor lacing about the glass.

The nose is bright and fresh with floral and gently spicy hops (Saaz) over a delicately sweet and mildly candyish maltiness that suggests honey with a drop of vanilla.

In the mouth it's medium-bodied and crisp with a moderate, fine-bubbled carbonation.

The flavor is quite straightforward, but it has finesse. It's clean and very well-balanced with a solid bitterness that backs it's lightly grainy and slightly honeyish maltiness and floral, spicy, and lightly grassy hops. It finishes with a lingering combination of hops, sweet malt, and gentle bitterness that gently erode from the palate.

Overall, Bohemia is a very nicely done, well-refined European-style lager that easily stands up to its predecessors, and deserves more attention than it gets.

Looks can be deceiving with this one...

Pale yellow, fizzy and typical. However, a good finger of foam results from a steady pour, and remains for a couple minutes.

Smell is vaguely earthy, floral, with a cameo of sweet spice...it's Saaz hops, just barely. Much more pleasing that the other Mexican lager options.

Taste is spicy Saaz again, with a short note of sweet grain, reminiscient of grain of paradise. Good carbonation, and clean mouthfeel. Utilitarian, but it does the job well. Very easy to put down a few on a warm day.

Paired two of these with a "Puerco en Mole" dish.

A - pours a crystal clear golden color, with a 2cm head that quickly diffuses to nothing. looks refreshing.

S - sweet nose. hard to pick out distinct smells, but nothing offensive at all. there's some sweetness, corn, caramel, and other grains.

T&M - sweet corn, rice, and tortilla. really fine and even taste. mild hops make this quaffable. it's got an even moderate mouthfeel. crisp, smooth, refreshing.

D - this is a beer that i will return too often. my wife cooks a lot of el salvadorian food, and this will pair perfectly. it doesn't get disgusting at warmer temps (like most of it's Mexican peers), which is nice. It's a sold mexican brew, great for summer, or paired with hispanic cuisine. not quite as full flavored as i hoped, but goes down effortlessly.

Darker yellow body with a smaller somewhat fizzy head. No strong lacing. A bit lighter in color than expected.

Smell is crisp with good malt and hop balance.

Tastes clean and flavorful. Good malt with light bitterness. So easy to drink.

My favorite brew outo f Mexico for sure.

Served in a pilsner glass. Nice pillowy half-inch head. Champagne look to it with a slightly golden-yellow hue.

Mildly spicy, hoppy aroma. Fresh, earthy and grainy. Very true to the classic pilsner characteristics.

I don't know if it's something with Mexican beverages in general but, like the other heavily German-influenced Mexican beers I've had like Negra Modelo and Dos Equis amber, and bebidos like Mexican Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Jarritos, etc., there doesn't seem to be much carbonation in this. Whereas in the other beers I've mentioned, just a little more fizz was desirable, the Bohemia was quite fine to drink this way (and I clean my glassware out properly and thoroughly, so I think I can rule out a scummy glass for affecting the head and bubbles, etc.). So easy to drink and staple-worthy.

Best Mexican beer I've had, even though it's a distinctly German-style brew. Or Vienna. Or whatever it is.

Pour: A pale clear yellow with no head a bit of lacing
Smell: Very mild, a bit sweet with slight citrus undertone
Taste: Very smooth, crisp and refreshing. A citrus undertone and finishes with a slight bitterness from the hops and a peppery spice.
My favorite Mexican beer. Pleasantly surprised and I recommend for a hot day or with a nice spicy meal.

Bottles purchased at Beers of the World for my Day of the Dead party. Drank directly from the bottle.

Poured a little out later to get an idea of the appearance- it's pale yellow, typical adjunct lager look. Pretty fizzy. Can't get much of a read on head or lacing.

Smells like sweet grainy malt, grass, and a bit of pine.

Unexpectedly great taste here. The hops impart a peppery, piney pite, which is buffeted by strong carbonation. Sweet grainy malts as well, that are kept in check by the grassy hop bite. Not much lingering bitterness. Dry finish.

Light bodied, well carbonated, very refreshing.

The best Mexican cheap lager out there for sure. Would pair incredibly well with Mexican food.

I went to our favorite Mexican restaurants last night and I felt like a beer instead of the usual margarita, so I got one of these.

I was very suprised! I thought I was basically ordering one step up from a Corona. I was wrong. This is the real deal. The smell is wonderful and ranks right up there with hacker pschorr or a good tripel beer. It has sort of a sweet vanilla smell. Top quality ingredients for sure. Perfect for Mexican dishes, but I just bought a 12 pack for $14 and I can't think of a better beer for the price to drink with any type of food.

It is crisp on the pallet and the head is thin like most lagers.

Pours a clear light yellow with foamy head. Little retention and spotty lacing. Smell: spicy hopping with a sweet toasted malt graininess. Taste: sweet graininess, hints of white grape juice / white nectarine. Spicy and mildly earthy hopping. Balanced. Mouthfeel: medium bodied, appropriate carbonation. Great session beer from Mexico.

Poured from a short 12 ounce bottle into a Samuel Smith pint glass.

Appearance: Clear yellow body with a small snow white head and low carbonation.

Smell: I'm surprised at how hoppy this smells. Nice citrus and grapefruit aroma. I wasn't expecting that from a Mexican lager.

Taste: Taste is similarly hoppy with the taste of oranges.
