This is a good beer. I drank three of these watching Mexican League Soccer and eating at my local Mexican restaurant, El Toro in Springfield, OH. Fajitas are fantastic and the beer is cold, the football high level. Lot of emotion. This is a good European Lager made in Mexico. Thank Emporer Maximillian for this, he brought the Austrian and German brewers with him long ago. In the bottle there is gold top and silver top. The silver is a dark and tasty brew if you can find it. Good beer.

Bottles purchased at Beers of the World for my Day of the Dead party. Drank directly from the bottle.

Poured a little out later to get an idea of the appearance- it's pale yellow, typical adjunct lager look. Pretty fizzy. Can't get much of a read on head or lacing.

Smells like sweet grainy malt, grass, and a bit of pine.

Unexpectedly great taste here. The hops impart a peppery, piney pite, which is buffeted by strong carbonation. Sweet grainy malts as well, that are kept in check by the grassy hop bite. Not much lingering bitterness. Dry finish.

Light bodied, well carbonated, very refreshing.

The best Mexican cheap lager out there for sure. Would pair incredibly well with Mexican food.

Something light and crisp to match my pizza.

A: Nice golden hue. Perhaps slightly darker than the average BMC. Half a finger of bleached head. Moderate carbonation. Minimal retention. Moderate lacing.

S: Clean grain. Some vegetal characteristics and a bit herbaceous.

T: Flavor is light and slightly grassy. Up front picks up a bit of herbal hoppiness. Mid palate has some cracker malt sweetness and tart green apple and more adjunct characteristics. Finish is more of the same green apple skin. Dry.

M: Light, without being overly seltzer like.

O: My goto Mexican lager. Drinks easily with enough hoppiness to pair with the spicier dishes.

If you're looking for a North American Pilsener as an alternative to the 'monster brews' flooding the market under the guise of 'IPAs' (or double, triple IPAs) look no further. Bohemia is hoppy and crisp but really blossoms when the cold edge softens. I wouldn't start it at room temp, but it rounds out as it warms up for sure. The mouthfeel is on the light side but the taste packs a nice hoppy punch. It's well balanced too, but definitely hop-forward.

There's no better Mexican beer out there. It's hard to find, but as far as refreshing pilsener-style brews go, this is an excellent example and worth trying. Goes best with spicy food and is sessionable but doesn't shy away from giving you a kick after downing a few.
Highlight here is mouthfeel - very crisp, above-average carbonation while retaining flavor throughout. Very pleasant and almost nothing I'd rather drink on a beach.

Review as I drink. Let's pop this mother.

app- ever-so-slightly hazy yellow. No streaming bubbles anywhere, but my glass is impeccably clean. Frothy white head that's going down rather slowly for the style. Lots of particles just hanging in there. Surprising for a pils.

sml- Unfortunately I'm running on one nostril tonight, but let's give it a shot: nice peppery, floral hop presence. Not a whole lot of malt anything. This is a pilsner so I've got to remember not to try and read too much into it. Ok I do get some malt. Smells like wet bread. Is that weird? That's what I think of.

tst- More bright peppery hops. I think I really like this beer. Just the tiniest bit of lemon again, or some kind of citrus that hangs on after it's gone down the throat. There's more here than the Paulaner lager? Well a lager isn't a pilsner but still, I am pleasantly surprised. Malts hardly show up at all, and only to kick the hops back a little.

mf- pretty light but the only-slightly-filtered thing gave it a little body. It doesn't feel like a water beer.

This is what I would call a great example of style. I guess I really like pilsners. The characters here are pronounced but not like an IPA or stout. This is something that impressed me more than a lager from a company famous for making some of the best brews on earth. Another beer that gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling for the brewing scene in Mexico.

I am by no means and expert but I have been telling and serving people this beer for years. I first came across it in Mc Allen TX and then in Juarez. MX and I was hooked when the served it the 2nd time. I could not believe that a border beer could be this good. So forget all the floral and spicy stuff just sit back sip and enjoy.

straw golden, short lasting white head, no lacing.

aroma and flavor = grainy with plenty of DMS... light hoppiness is way background... a bit of bitterness up front.

still pretty drinkable... Doubt I would buy again except when drinking with work buddies and making fajitas (again).

Looks thin, pale yellow with a weird almost electric tint, and little head.

Smells bread like with lots of skunky smells coming immediately out when I opened the bottle.

Tastes better than the smell indicates. Bread like, a bit malty, with little sweetness or bitterness.

Feels thicker than I thought it would.

Really a drinkable beer and I'm glad to have had it, but it's nothing to seek out.

Poured this German style pilsner from a 12 oz brown bottle into a pint glass. Poured a amber color, produced a off white head, decent retention and lacing left on the glass.
A foundation of sweet malted grain makes for a nice balance with the spicy hops. Well balanced and has some flavor. Not a bad choice if your looking for a Mexican beer to pair with some spicy food.

A- Poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass. Pours a golden straw color with a thin white head that lingers. Good lacing.

S- Not much to speak of here. I will say that i was in a Mexican restaurant with a lot going on making it difficult to pick up on the aroma. There was certainly no astringent aroma like I usually get with most Mexican beers. I did detect some sweetness and grain.

T- Much better than I expected. Too accustomed to the poor beers that I get at Mexican restaurants like Corona or Tecate. Sweet biscuiy taste foward, hop finish. A nice bite of hops that was quite a delightful surprise. Very smooth. Nice balance

M- Light body, clean and refreshing. Perfect carbonation.

O- By far the best Mexican option IMO. A really nice effort on a German Pils. Will be my go to beer when I am eating spicy Mexican food. The sweetness of this beer really suits well with the spice.

The best of the mass-produced Mexican beers, for sure ... a vienna? lager/ pilsener in style (lots of Germans migrated to Mexico, back in the days... thus , the blonde haired/blue-eyed Mexican folks ...)
A nice elegance? / soul that is usually missing from other cheapy macro-swill brews ... A decent smooth body and finish that doesn't assault your taste buds or sensibility as much as uber-hopped west coast style ales will do . (aint nobody got time for that...)
Ideal for basic Mexican cuisine (or any spicy food) .
has recently (2015) become my go-to 'cheap' beer when I don't want to spend more than $25/case . hits all the right notes in my mouth and won't crunkify you too much even if you have a couple too many ... ( can you say session beer ? )

somewhere above the median on the Mexican beer spectrum. the one pours a real light clear watery wheat color, with a short lived white head. the nose is very generic and light, crystal and pale malts, not as pilsener as indicated, but not offensively cornmeal adjuncty like a sol or a corona, although the flavor of this is only mildly better than either of those. it honestly doesn't really taste like much, which is actually an improvement over the metallic and rancid flavors of some of its competition. very crisp finish too without the sweet weirdness. also improved with a lime wedge, as infrequently as I say that, it applies here. ultra light mouthfeel and pretty good carbonation. I would take this over most other Mexican beers ive had, save pacifico. this does not approach a good quality brew, but in a hot summer setting when the alternatives are mich ultra and coronoa light, this is my horse.

12 oz bottle into a Samuel Smith pint glass.

A: Pours a lighter straw color with a good bit of translucence to its body. The head is a two finger white shade. Bubbly as can be, it fades away quickly, and doesn't leave much lacing on the glass, either.

S: Grains and light maltiness, about what I expect from a Mexican lager. Oh, and some noble hops. Gee, imagine that, noble hops in a lager! Whodathunkit? I also notice some tart lemon/lime qualities.

T: The lime tone in the aroma moves down to the tongue, supporting a sweet malt base and faint yet zesty hop bite. Adjunct notes are thankfully kept in check. Simple as can be, but it just works so well with what it has.

M: Light and crisp. Carbonation isn't overbearing, and it's superbly drinkable.

O: This isn't just good for a Mexican lager - it's a legitimately good beer, period. Merely drinking this makes me think about 78F sunny days laying on the patio without a care in the world. This beer has just given me A) a go-to in Mexican restaurants, B) something to buy for non-beer-drinking guests when hosting a party, and C) something to actually enjoy besides margaritas should I ever end up vacationing in Cabo San Lucas.

In my opinion, Bohemia is by far the best Mexican beer. Had this in the foil topped bottle, so I will not comment on the head or any of that stuff, but this is overall a decent beer.

Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant, I get a Bohemia. For some odd reason, about two years ago, every Mexican place in town started bringing it out with a lime--I guess to cater to the Corona crowd--but I wish this would not happen because I find that the lime taste messes up the flavor of the hops.

The taste is similar to German or Czech beer in general; there is a little hop flavor and a little bold malty flavor at the same time. It has a similar mouthfeel to a beer like Lowenbrau, which is not too watery, but not having a solid presence either.

Overall a solid beer, especially when compared to other Mexican beers.

From the foil topped 12 fl. oz. bottle . Sampled on February 19, 2013

The pour is pale yellow with a short-lived fizzy white head.

The aroma is of pale German malts, sugar, toast, and a cleanish hop scent.

The body is light to medium and is also rather creamy.

The taste begins with moderate malts and a low to moderate hop bitterness that lingers briefly at the end. I found it to be pretty decent for the style.

Bottle poured into mug.

Three and a half finger off white head. Medium-high carbonation.

Pale in color

Smells: hop, corn, cereal, cooked veggies

Taste: barley, citrus, lemon, with a hop bite at the end!

Mouthfeel: Smooth and refreshing!

Overall, I didn't know I would be drinking a pils, but if I had to reach for one at a Mexican restaurant. I would choose this one.

Pours a golden colour with a foamy white head.

The smell is sweet and grainy.

The taste is similar to the taste sweet grains, not much else. Simple and easy drinking.

The mouthfeel is light with medium carbonation.

Overall about what you would expect from a Mexican beer, it's better than Corona but that's not saying much.

A mexican beer i've been wanting to try for a while

A -A bright golden color with a huge 4 finger head that faded pretty quickly

S - HUGE SWEET grainy smell with a slight hoppy finish

T - The first note in was a slight sour mash and finished with a semi floral hoppy dry finish.

M- - Eh could have used a slight more carbonation to help float the flavor a little more on tongue

O - A solid mexican beer I gotta say they could have used a little more bitterness and a little bit more hops and a lot more grains but overall it a pretty good beer. Gotta say this is hands down the best mexican beer i've ever had.

Pours out crystal clear with a nice white head that thins out into a layer of bubbles corralled by very little lacing. The body is a light golden color and is filled with some mild carbonation. Mild wheat and some malts come through, very mild citrus zest as well but not much else-very light floral notes. Its light –to- medium bodied and you can feel the carbonation-Malts and hops are present along with some spices, semi-sweet overall and dry. There is a hint of floral flavors in this one, overall not a bad beer.

I have always seen this one on sale and thought it was just another beer until I took a deeper look.

Appearance - A solid gold color, maybe even some flecks of yellow here and there to spice it up

Smell - Hoppy with some light notes of grain.

Taste - Really nice taste, the hop smell translate well to the flavor. Not complex, but a solid simple flavor

Mouthfeel - Great carbonation that keeps the flavor satisfying

Overall - A nice beer, a bit light for my taste and maybe a bit on the simple side. This would be a beer with a good spicy meal though

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass:

Appearance: very clear, nice pale yellow, lots of bubbles. Head recesses quickly but leaves a thin layer of foam on top. Looks very nice for a german pils.

Aroma: faint smells of pale grain, but i smell a bit of green apple skin and some alcohol. Hops are very hidden, but i think im getting some slight floral and pepper-like hops.

Flavor: flavors matches aroma, with flavors of pale grain, almost like raw bread, im still picking up some green apple and a bit of alcohol makes its presence, but its not too overwhelming. Again, hops are faint and hard to distinguish a flavor from, but they do balance the grainyness of the beer as far as bitterness goes.I dont mind it.

Mouthfeel: light bodied, lots of carbonation, with a smooth dryness at the end.

Overall: a decent example of a german pils, but not on the top of my list. Something i could easily have a 6 pack though on a night of beer drinking. Something to check out if you have a chance, it wont dissapoint, but it wont be something youll write home about either.

A-Pours a lightly hazy straw yellow color. Head is bleached and about a quarter inch in height. Head, although small, does retain quite well. Light lacing. Armies of bubbles rise to fuel the head.

S-A bit skunky. Moderate Noble hop grassiness. Also a subtle cracker and corny graininess. Actually smells more legit than I expected it to be. Brings enough to the table.

T-The hops are clean and the skunk is muted to a certain extent. Subtle cracker/dough combination. Lightly spicy on the finish. The hoppiness is pronounced to a very respectable degree (especially for a Mexican import). Flavors work well together.

M-Light bodied with a spritzy carbonation level. Quite drinkable. Mild hop-induced bitterness. Crisp and clean. Barely any metallic flavor.

O/D-Better than expected. Blows other Mexi-brews away. Still, far from anything I would by again (as I only purchased a single). But hey, turns out it was worth trying.

A has more color then I expected, golden yellow, lots of tiny bubbles and a short lived finger of foam leaves no lace

S cooked veggies, grass and hay with a little corny malt

T some faint noble hops to go with what I smell, nothing special but much better then the other Mexican beers I had this week

M well carbonated and a little thin about what I expected, fairly clean finish

O a nice surprise that I found a un-skunked beer here in PV, drinkable for sure

perhaps its all the crap I´ve been drinking in Mexico but this one was almost good.
