I had this before I became a beer connisseur and thought this wasn't bad. Had it again recently and I can't say that I was impressed. Better than most Mexican-brewed beer which is usually similar to a US-macro. More hops evident than in the usual standard Mexican fare. Pretty smooth and drinkable, but no real distinguishable characteristic. Not offensive.

I recently vacationed in Mexico and while I'd had this beer before in the US, I don't recall it being as tasty as I found it in Mexico! The beer poured a pleasant amber color with a lot of carbonation in the mouthfeel. There was a rather mild but nonetheless pleasing sweet maltiness in the beer, but not a discernible hop presence. This and Modelo Especial were the two beers I consumed most during my Mexican vacation.

Bohemia pours a nice gold color with a average head.

It has nice smells of earthy scents.

The taste starts with the feel of malt followed by a nice taste of hops, making a nice full taste.

It has an average amount of carbonation, with a nice healthy feeling body.

Overall, Bohemia was a surprise for me. I ordered it randomly at a Mexican restaurant, thinking it would be the usual Mexican beer, but for me it is probably the best beer I have had coming from south of the border.

Looks can be deceiving with this one...

Pale yellow, fizzy and typical. However, a good finger of foam results from a steady pour, and remains for a couple minutes.

Smell is vaguely earthy, floral, with a cameo of sweet spice...it's Saaz hops, just barely. Much more pleasing that the other Mexican lager options.

Taste is spicy Saaz again, with a short note of sweet grain, reminiscient of grain of paradise. Good carbonation, and clean mouthfeel. Utilitarian, but it does the job well. Very easy to put down a few on a warm day.

Paired two of these with a "Puerco en Mole" dish.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a bright gold color with a very thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of bready malts, spices, caramel and a little bit of hops.

T: The taste is starts out with some spice & lemon along with a hearty malt character. Then a mild but complimentary hops presence comes in to provide a little balance. The after-taste is bready and slightly sweet.

M: Smooth with a little crispness, medium body, medium carbonation, clean and dry finish.

D: A little tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, decent representation of style, I could drink a few of these but I think it would be better with food and there are better beers in the style.

Slight hop aroma, but nice hop flavor. Didn't quite expect it, but I'd say it is like a Sam Adams of Mexico. I didn't think they used hops for flavor in Mexico, but apparently they do. Nice citrusy flavor that would go great with any Mexican meal. It is very clear with a small head, but some lacing. Overall, a great beer for a warm day.

A - Crystal clear bright dandelion yellow with no trace of a head. No lace either.

S - Slight hints of clean hops, and a bit of citrus. Not much smell at all really.

T - Sharp, clear, biting, and quenching. Pilsener-like hops, but very subdued with absolutely no trace of an aftertaste....this might be one of the cleanest finishing beers ever. Much more flavorful than it is aromatic. This went excellently with salsa and tortilla chips.

M - Light in body, but nicely structured...it does have some substance, unlike a lot of other Mexican and American lagers. Thirst quenching, highly carbonated, and clean.

D - Good with Mexican cuisine or when baking yourself out by the pool. Not very interesting, but worlds better than any other Mexican lager I've had.

Bought this one in Cozumel, Mexico at a street vendor. I wasn't expecting much out of any mexican beer, but this one ended up being rather decent. The smell and flavor was what made it good for me. Although it was thin and fizzy, like all hot weather beers seem to be, it had an all-malt taste. It almost had a hint of caramel in it as it went down. It was short-lived after the watery taste bled through, but it was better than drinking more corona or a sugar-filled daquari.

I can't remember the name of the border town but it was just west of Yuma, AZ into California. We parked the RV in a large parking lot state side and walked across the border. Upon arival, we went into a bar, ate nachos and drank a sh*t ton of tequila to kill whatever was in the nachos.

After leaving the cantina, we went shopping until we realized there's nothing in Mexico worth buying unless you're in need of dental work or pharmacuticals. I ended up buying a 8 pack of 273ml bottles of Bohemia for like 4 bucks and stupored back home across the border.

Finally to the point. The next day, I opened the RV fridge and saw the 8 pack in there. To my great surpise these beers were pretty damn good.

The cp-filled bottle poured a great looking crystal clear golden pils into my glass. First thing I noticed was a nice subtle hit of saaz hops, the head wasn't all that big, but it could have been due to the soap used to clean the glass. It smelled great for a cheap ass beer.

Taste, wow, more czech saaz balanced out with a decent malt back bone, this is really an all-malt beer. I'm not sure why BA says this beer is a Vienna lager, I would say with 99% certainty that it's a Bohemian pilsener. The name should be the first clue, but with all the saaz in there it's more of a Pilsner Urquell than a Negra Modelo.

All in all this is a damn fine beer. I just can't believe that it's sold so freaking cheap. I would agree that this beer should be rated around 80-82. This is a fantastic session lager that's perfect for the desert heat or while grilling on the back porch.

Oh, and if you're ever in a Mexican bordertown, stay away from the nachos. Eeesh.

An OK beer - not outstanding, but drinkable. Color is a typical beer-golden with a moderate head. Smell is strong and beery. Taste is malty, with a little bitterness in the aftertaste. This is a good accompaniment to Mexican or Tex-Mex cuisine.

I added a lime to give it a little extra zing, and this really worked.

The best beer I've found in Cancun, it even has bitterness. I don't know about the vienna lager label on BA. This looks and tastes like a pilsner, say, one from Bohemia. It also reminded me of a less bold version of the Sly Fox Pils. It has a slightly bready flavor with grassy and floral hops. Drinks very crisp and it great for washing down food or just relaxing. Two bottles of this helped me put down 27 jumbo shrimp. Any beer that can do that and taste good is alright in my eyes. Not the best pils, but its in a brown bottle and a good choice is vacationing in Mexico

One of the better Mexican beers, but still, nothing to rave about. Poured from a 12oz. bottle, into a pint glass. The beer poured a clear yellow, forming a thin 1 inch head, with lots of carbonation. Thin rings of lace on the glass. The aroma is slightly skunky, along with a little corn smell. The taste isnt bad, but its not really good either. Very little flavor, mostly a slight grain flavor, but mostly just like water. Light mouthfeel. Overall, not bad, but this isnt a beer I would drink more than one of.

Pale yellow, clear. Moderate head, ample carbonation.

Sweet malt with biscuit, light nut, and lightly grainy. Floral hops, spicy and mildly citric.

Medium bodied smooth flow of refreshing malt, lightly sweet and biscuity. Floral hops, mildly spicy. Just balances the malt. Decent carbonation throughout. Finishes tart, slightly bitter.

Tastes alright, fairly simple and light. Best as food accompaniment, I used chips and salsa. This brew goes well with spicy food. Becomes hard to drink when it starts warming though.

Rather watery, in appearance. Pale yellow of a macro. Ditto, the small, quickly dissapating head. Slightly fruity nose (grapes?), but other than that pretty much right down the middle of the road. There's an OK bitterness, but that's pretty much where this beer's unique offerings to Beerdom ends. Puny, weak mouthfeel. Generally bland, expected malt taste of cheap ajuncts. It seemed like there was a bit of an alcoholic kick behind it, but I see now the ABV is just 5.3%. Perhaps I noticed something just because it was relative to the beer's overall mediocrity. Grainy, dustry dry finish, which wasn't too bad. But I definitely won't seek this out again.

This was the first beer from a 12-beer sampler pack assembled by my (awesome) father in law as a birthday gift from the Blue Max (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1287/?view=beerfly). Many obscure, enticing porters and pub ales to explore. I'm glad this one is out of the way.

12 oz. bottle poured into a mug.

Appearance: Pours a clear, somewhat pale, golden straw color. Foamy white head is somewhat flimsy, but laces the glass some.

Smell: Generally hops and grains. Very mild smell overall; difficult to fully notice.

Taste: Again, grains and hops. But there's also a bit of somewhat sweet malts present as well. Nothing is particularly distinct. I don't notice the corn taste that is present in many Central & South American beers.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied and generally smooth, though it does have the grainy elements. Mild carbonation as well.

Drinkability: Certainly easy enough to drink and nothing is really objectionable to impede drinking.

An average Mexican lager: average all around. Could be a bit tastier, but for this type of beer it's perfectly acceptable. Not something I'd seek out, but not something I'd reject.

A favorite of mine when I'm eating Mexican food, however I polished one off a few nights ago after eating Chinese food. Hmmm, there's an idea I should try in the future, crossing one culture's food with another culture's beer. I guess I've done it a few times without ever thinking about it, but how weird would it be to see Tsingtao beer with Italian dishes? Anyways, let's move on and get to this beer:

It's a pale straw color, that pours a nice head, but shrinks considerably after a minute. It has a a nice hop aroma that doesn't leave you gasping for air with caramel notes in the back. The beer's slightly sweet, with a hoppy profile, but not bitter. It's very refreshing and easy to drink, making it a good choice when one is thirsty and doesn't want to drink water. Remember, this is a Mexican beer that's built for easy comsumption. But more importantly, it tastes pretty darn good, and that characteristic puts it above other Mexi-Lagers.

The word on the street is that this is one of the good Mexican beers.

Appearance: The pour is straw to gold with a small white head.

Smell: The nose has soft grains and a bit of sweet malts.

Taste: Light grains and a hint of crisp saaz hops are nice, but sweet malts take what could be a semi-tolerable maco lager down a notch.

Mouthfeel: It's light-bodied and fizzy.

Drinkability: There's not much going on in this one, but what is present is a flavor that I'll be happy to pass on next time I see it.

served into mug from 12oz.brown bottle crimped cap at Mexican restaraunt,a bit on the cold side mug was chilled not frosted.

Clear, light golden color, large bubbles on sides of glass, small tiny bubbles stringing from the center of the glass.Thin white, head dissapating quickley,2nd beer was better about 1/2" head lasted a bit longer. Some spotty lacing on sides of glass.

A crisp, clean citrusy aroma, also carmelly, more carmelly nose as the beer warms. Good aromas as compaired to most Mexican beers.

Clean, snappy citrus bite,a bit grapefruitty, wasn't malty at first, more malt tastes as it warms and mid taste malt flavors.A good clean, fresh citrus taste to the finish. Overall a nice balance to this beer.

A clean, light mouthfeel, pleasing and refreshing, very drinkable.A good Mexican session beer very enjoyable citrus bite really adds to drinkability. A forum post said this was the Best Mexician beer, made me give it a try. I'd have to agree with this.

A: Pours a dull, light straw colored brew with crisp lines. Head is really nice; full, creamy, fluffy and snow white.

S: Dry grass, white grapes with really dry biscuits

T: Begins dry and somewhat grainy. Some vegetable sweetness comes in next including pees, corn and potato. Oily mineral taste is present as well, that trademark "Mexican" taste that accompanies most south of the border beers. There's a slight sour twang that resembles lime which would probably blossum if an actual lime wedge was added. Finishes metallic and dry. Now I'll add the lime and what a difference it makes...really cuts through the oily mineral taste.

M: Thin and hard with a touch of carbo sting.

D: Not my favorite Mexican lager but not bad. The lime helped.

What's this? A beer called Bohemia...and made in Mexico? Will wonders never cease. Even more wonderful, despite the fact it looks like your typical crummy Mexican lager, this one's actually not half bad. Nice sweet smell, a bit more malty and flavorful than most of the Mexican beers I've become used to, and the detectable presence of a hop or two.

Actually a nicely quaffable little brew. Really surprisingly good.

This beer pours a golden color that is akin to urine with no darkness or haze to it. The smell is unfortunately the same, with just a hint of wheat behind it. The taste is very light, much like an American macro-lager. A bit of carbonation as well keeps this beer from lingering on the tongue too long, but still is not able to get the taste down in enough time. I imagine the only reason you’d drink this beer is if you were in Mexico and you wanted some local flavor, but its definitely not something you’d seek out otherwise.

Pours a golden hue with small, thin head. Smell is clean with fresh lightly hopped aroma. Initial taste is sharp and clean with light malt and hops up front but not a lot on the back end. Very crisp with a little more carbonation than I would expect. Mouthfeel is light.

All and all, not a bad brew. Could whack quite a few back. Would make a decent session brew. This is a good beer for the masses. While not what I would expect in a Vienna Lager, this is a decent beer.

Pours out a dark straw with a good amount of sediment...never seen that before. Nice white head foams up.

Smell. Light malt aroma that is slightly sweet. also has an interesting menthol cooling smell i do not remember.

Taste. Interesting flavor. I'm guessing its the sediment right now giving it the yeasty flavor. But does have just a touch of hop bitterness. Flavor is not bad, just not much to talk about.

Mouthfeel. Body is creamy, but low on carbonation. not bad.

Overall. One of only a small handful of mexican beers i like to drink. No big frills here, but is good enough to enjoy with mexican, or even a six pack at home.
