On special at a local Mexican restaraunt this weekend so I fgiure I'd have one.

A - Poured out a golden, yellow color with a fizzy, small, white head. Pretty good head retention, but no lace.

S - It smelled of corn and grains.

T - It was fairly sweet tasting. Mostly just a corn/grain flavor. Nothing bad or unusual but nothing particularly flavorful.

M - It was fairly crisp and sharp. A light-bodied beer.

D - This isn't bad for a Mexican beer. It does just fine while throwing down so tacos.

When eating Mexican cuisine out and about I like to order this one, pours a light straw color with high carbonation, aroma is slightly metallic and hoppy.Taste has a definent malt profile to it with a light grassy taste lingering in the background, easy to drink alot of these.I think this beer is second only to Bohemia in the Mexican beer market.

Appearance – Clear yellow body with a tinge of orange. No head.

Smell – Mostly corn, but some grainy aromas help it along.

Taste – The corn and grain flavors mix pretty poorly. This brew has a nasty finish that just seems like a horrible attempt at balance.

Mouthfeel – The carbonation isn’t as cheap as in some Mexican beers.

Drinkability – This one had just enough smoothness in it to keep the rating out of the cellar.

Presentation: 355ml bottle. No freshness info.

Appearance: Pours a pale yellow beer with a thin white foam lace that dies quickly.

Smell: Clean, light grain, faint touch of flowers and sugar.

Taste: Smooth, even, creamy, medium-bodied. A slight citric-like bitterness emerges, strikes the palate, then retreats immediately to make way for ... a lot of nothing. There's barely any sweetness to this beer, or any discernable malt flavours. It's all in the body, which is surprisingly pleasant. Touch of grain, that turns into a dry husk-like finish.

Notes: Usually most Mexican beers are at least "okay" in my book (except for Corona Light, and anything you need to put a lime into), but this beer was just not acceptable. My recommendation: Pass on this one.

12 oz brown bottle with no freshness date. Slim yet foamy white lace, good clarity.

Clean to the nose with a faint spicy hop and thin grain.

Not bad at all, very little off flavours detected ... clean dry grainy palate. Refreshingly crisp but very light on the malt flavour. Hop character follows the same but that is better any way to keep the balance with a thin spiciness. Vague cooked veggie flavour that is close to corn grits does not offend.

Must be served ice cold. A good pick out of the main stream Mexi-lagers.

look: 4 | smell: 3 | taste: 4 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 4

Appearance: Yellow but darker than Bud, not saying much I suppose. Clear, sparkly, not bad, the head lasts halfway through the drink and the lacing is decent.

Smell: Sour macro, with a little lemon perhaps, not half bad.

T and M: Surprisingly good, clean, not too much corn as I had feared. Very thin in the mouthfeel and swirling around only makes it foamy and tasteless, but only dweebs like us would think of doing such things washed down my cheap mex take-out after a very long day @work and I can use the quart bottles to save time with my homebrew a plus.

Drinkability: If you don't expect more than it offers, it does the job with grace.

poured into a mug at the Mexican restraunt from a 12 long neck brown bottle with a crimped cap.

Clear straw to golden color with a 2" fluffy white head, good retention. Some lively carbination a good amount of tiny bubbles stringing and whisping to the surface

A good clean aroma with a light sweet malt smells, fruity, some grainy aromas no real hops aromas detected.

A clean light fruity taste with a light malt/bisquitty flavor some grain tastes finishes clean, crisp with slight tartness and pleasing mild bitterness

A light, creamy mouthfeel with a slight tang. A good refreshing beers not bad for a Marco beats BMC a decent beer in a Mexician restraunt. Went down very smooth and easy. Was really good with the spicy food.

Light yellow, ample white head. Smell was not much, if anything, but wasn't putting me off either.

Taste, crisp, light beer, faint hop spice vibe bolstered by ample carbonation. Kind of your run of the mill adjunct style beer, a little husk grain feel. Has some utility when drank w/ spicy or Mexican food.

For super hot weather only.

While sitting at the local Mexican restaraunt drinking some Bohemias, i realized that I've never even tried this beer so I decided to give it a shot.

Poured as expected; a straw yellow with a fizzy white head which stayed around for longer than I expected. Smell was a bit sweet but not over the top DMS sweetness. Very clean flavor with just a touch of graininess and an ever so slight bitter finish. Other than that, there's not much else to this beer. Not undrinkably awful but nothing to really remember it by. I suppose if there's nothing else around I'd take it over a bud, but that situation isn't likely to come around too often.

Had this while out for dinner at Xoxemilco in Springfield.

A - Yellow, clear brew with a short lived foamy head. A collar sticks around for the duration with limited lace left on the glass. Pretty boring.

S - Fruity, citric, light, and unoffensive. This doesn't really smell all that great, but it lacks that nasty adjunct laden scent common to the style.

T - Fruity, grainy, and simple. Pretty basic lager. Not good, not bad.

M - Highly carbonated, crisp, and clean. Light bodied with an almost transparent finish.

D - Drinkable enough for a Mexican summer lager, but it's not a memorable brew by any means. Went well with Mexican food, but their are better beers at most Mexican restaurants.

Carta Blanca pours a clear golden body beneath an average-sized head of white foam that holds fairly well and leaves some pretty nice walls of very thin lace at the outset of the glass. The nose is brightly grassy and slightly spicy - even a touch citrusy - over notes of husky, cereal-like grain. The flavor is even more grainy and straw-like, with the hops falling towards the back. It's a good balance though, except that the bitterness level seems a touch low. Some dimethyl sulfide appears, and perhaps some dialkyl sulfides as well, giving it a cooked corn/cooked vegetable character that's distracting but not off-putting. It's rather dull in the finish, with a smear of husky and mealy grain followed by a minor showing of hoppy spiciness. An average beer at best, Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma should be able to do much better - unless, of course, they're keeping it this way because the consumer likes it and expects it.

Has very little color, unless clear, watered down golden straw is a color. I've flushed darker colors than this. I give it a half point for a nice, fluffy white head.

Has a grainy, rice-like scent. I guess you could call something in there hops, but I'm not sure what type it is.

Only slightly better than an American macro. I really don't know how to define the taste because I'm not sure what ingredient makes the flavors, or lack thereof. Kind of tastes like I'd expect cardboard to taste like. Almost a floral taste in the finish, thus the 2 points.

Maybe 25 years ago when I thought macros were good would I score this higher. It's slightly watered down, ricey, grainy. Loose with a not so good bitterness.

Not the worst beer in the world, but close to it. Probably wouldn't kill you if you were dying of thirst, but that's the only other time I'd want one.

Had this with my dinner tonight

Pours pale golden with mininal1/4' white head that dissapears without a trace

S: A little iron & that's it

T: A sweet malt & rice taste. Iron some grainyness as this warms. Finishes sweet & thin

MF: Light bodied with low cabonation, balance, what body is there to balance?

Drinks slow due to the thiness & lack of flavors. Still better than many of its cousins north of the rio grande

Pale, pathetic golden hue, slim, soapy white head, similar retention, no lace. Herbal, zesty, slightly foul nose… thankfully it's not too potent. Rather bland tasting, sweetness dominates, hops are “detectable” (if you put some effort into it), the malt is a saving grace… dry finish, lingering sweetness masks the maltiness. While it is not offensive, I’d still say ‘skip it’… yet another worthless Lager.

Poured a straw color with bright white, rocky head, left lacework as the foam retreated -- not a bad looking macro lager. The aroma was full of cereal grains, not at all offensive, but a fresh aroma. Tasted like a refreshing macro lager with no off-flavors, in fact, fairly enjoyable for the style. Enough malt and other grains to prevent it from being too watery and just enough hops to make it refreshing. I would much sooner drink this than any American macro (unfortunately.) I split a quart with my wife over Mexican food and this stuff hit the spot. Of course, after the quart was finished it was on to something with more taste.

Not much going on with this beer that's for sure. It lacks character and it was boring to drink and rate. Its appearance was that of a medium white creamy head that contained fine-small sized bubbles that quickly dissipated. The body was clear and uncarbonated with a golden hue.The nose was malty as was the flavor. The mouthfeel was medium bodied and this beer's lacing was fair.

For an adjunct lager, this is actually pretty good. It pours a yellow that is a few shades darker than most adjuncts. A bit more bready and grapelike than most adjunct lagers, and also the mouthfeel, though light, is not as fizzy. It's a good beer to wash down Mexican food with and good for a summer day, but I prefer Bohemia.

Pours out to a thin white head that lasts and laces a bit; straw yellow color. Aroma is clean and inoffensive with no skunkiness--just light grain and hops. Flavor is dry and crisp but just blah, not much to it. Mouthfeel is thin. Overall nothing really special.

This pours as any adjunct would with a crystal clear pale yellow with a white fizzy head.

The aroma is a little grainy, with a touch of corn and grass.

The flavor is light adjunct grain, even wheat, with a crisp corn flake.

The feel is very crisp, very light and the carbonation, though prevalent, is not as sharp as expected.

Typical Mexican adjunct, served best with a lime, for hot sunny days.

A = pale in the glass, thick but rapidly disappearing head. Very little lacing left in the glass

S =corny, sweet, and not much else

T Sweet grains, hardly any discernable hops flavor. Tastes mass produced, watered down, and "ho-hum"

M = nice carbonation surprisingly, but aside from carbonation there is not much else. Quick fading tingle on the tongue, but that's about it.

D = Not bad if you are in a pinch and want to try something different.

Poured from a brown bottle into a weizen glass. Has a gold color with a 1/2 inch head. Mild, corn aroma. Taste is rather bland, not much going on here. Feels watery in the mouth. Drinkability is good, especially in heat. Overall this is a fairly average beer.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Stamped 03124. Sampled on December 5, 2014. No lime.

Golden to pale yellow pour and a quick lasting white fizzy head. Active carbonation.

Like most beers of its ilk I pick up a toasted barley and grainy malt character, maybe some corn, and clean crisps hops on the nose.

Light body but reasonably smooth.

The taste is pretty basic with its barley and grainy malt flavor and a refreshing hop finish. Just typical of the style like dozens of other beers in its class. Drink it with tacos.

A: Poured a clear, golden-orange with a thin fizzy paper white head that quickly dissipated. No visible lacing and only a slight moderate detection of carbonation was observed.

S: very faint and light in nature, almost irrelevant, with trace amounts of honey and citrus flowers.

T: started out sweet with honey flowers, cereal grains and a very smooth citrusy hopping. The flavor made some amends for the lack of aroma. Soft citrusy flowers lace the finish which finishes quickly and crisply. Overall a moderately decent flavor, a tad sweet, but gets props per style.

M: smooth, light with a little carbonation bite finishing things off on the swallow.

D: Fairly easy enough to put down, sweet, non-offensive. Wont blow you away but wont turn you off and a good macro-alternative or entry level beer. one of the better beers ive sampled out of mexico.

Poured out to a straw yellow with a one-finger head.

The smell is rather sweet. I thought it smelled it pineapple. I can't detect the aroma of hops at all in this beer.

The taste is blander than other beers, but it had a touch of that pineapple taste. The hops finishes nicely, which is surprising because I couldn't smell the hops at all.

The mouthfeel is rather smooth with plenty of carbonation.

In all, this is a decently drinkable beer.
