It pours a nice amber color, and produced a 1 finger white head.

The smell was faint, but of biscuit, and malts.

The taste was the same as smell.

No bitter hops, easy drinking, medium carbonation. It had a light-medium mouth-feel.

This is my favorite beer from south of the border.

Not bad for this country. That is drinkable with some taste. Nice foam in pour and amber colour. Works as a Vienna. Smooth drink with significant malt. Light mouthfeel, mild bitter aftertaste. Would work with spicy food. From broken sixpacks at LCBO.

Had this at Hooters tonight, because well, there was a decent selection for Hooters, about 40 beers, but this was the only one I had never had, so that was reason enough for me. Pored a golden amber, with a slight reddish hue. A big fizzy white head graced the top and faded quickly leaving behind a decent little top of film, and some residual lacing for a minute or two. Nice carbonation was evident from the start. Smell was very light, practically non existent here. What was there was maybe some kinda light grain, but it was really faint, maybe a touch of some kind of bready yeast..The taste was rather blah and non descript. Your typical amber lager really. Lots of malt, no hops, and a touch of grain, thats about it. Pretty good mouthfeel as the carbonation kept things pretty lively on the palate, and it went down very smooth, with a quick, crisp finish. Very clean. Drinkability was above average, as very cold this was one that you could throw down a ton of. Overall I have had muc worse, and for a macro, not actually half bad. Went pretty damn well with dinner. I would definatly have one again, though I wouldn't put a sixer in my fridge

A: The beer is clear coppery amber in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white head that never faded away and left lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: There are aromas of corn in the nose along with notes of caramel and toasted malts.
T: The taste is a little better than the smell because the corn aromas are subdued; there are flavors of toasted and caramel malts along with some hints of malty sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The beer certainly looks like a Vienna Lager but does not really smell like one, having more of a resemblance to that of an adjunct lager.

A clear amber pour with a nice head. The nose is very mild...light fuitiness takes some shape. The taste overall is bland. Almost no hoppiness. Malts are sublte if not hidden. There seems to be a pinch of citrusy sweetness on the finish but that fades quite fast. A light bodied beer with a decent mouthfeel. An easy drinker but little in the way of interesting qualities.

Appearance – Brownish-orange in color and very clear. No head to speak of.

Smell – Faint malt aroma with no balance.

Taste – Not much there other than the smallish malt from the aroma. It seems like there’s something bitter in there – an attempt to balance maybe – but the flavor was uninspiring overall.

Mouthfeel – Light carbonation helped this one along, but the flavor made for some gagging swallows.

Drinkability – Not the tastiest beer in the world, but fine for a hot summer day.

Amber with a white head that stays around a while.

Make sure and get a whiff of it quickly, as the aroma fades fast. Slightly nutty, grainy, with a hint of caramel.

The taste fades about as fast as the smell. It's pretty bland with hints of caramelized malts and a slightly dirty taste, though the mouthfeel is pretty good.

I want to lower my score more with every sip.

This is a suprisingly dark beer for Vienna Lager, like a dull Irish Red almost. A forceful pour gives a big head that dies slowly, but is gone without a trace by the time I'm 1/3 done. I smell only faintest whiff of what I think is crystal malt aroma. This beer wasn't much to report on, one dimensional metallic and caramel flavor with no toasted character at all. I did notice something strange when I started eating Spanish rice with it. It took on cinnemon, woody, and boozy flavors that prettymuch made it taste like spiced rum. I'm not reviewing based on that, but they were delicious together.

Mouthfeel is a great consistency but damn, this is one flat beer, and still, it stung the mouth a tad.

This was a pretty good mexican beer. It poured a dark brownish color with a thin fizzy head that faded quickly. The smell was strong on grain and malt. The taste was pretty decent with good malt flavors and a touch of hops. Although the taste was dominated by grain it was a smoothe flavor that went very well with the chips and salsa I had. A good mexican brew to get if it is offered.

I've had this and the lager here in the US, and found them lacking. Tried this again on a recent trip to Mexico, and I swear there's a difference. The beer was a dark brown with a thick tan head. It had a nice malty aroma. Taste also malty, with a little caramel and some hops. Very enjoyable, and it stood up well with Mexican food.

This is not a beer for hot weather...I buy it from a gas station for $1.61 including tax so is cheap and you can find it almost anywhere

The Dos Equis Amber poured a clear copper with a fizzy head that quickly disappeared. It has a sweetish, starchy malt aroma with some slight fruity hints. Like the regular Dos Equis, it is thin and watery. It tastes a little better though. The taste is mostly sweet malts and some caramel hints. It has a kind of skunky, metallic finish though. Overall, it's better than regular Dos Equis and at the upper end of macros...still not something I would get again, unless choices were very slim.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Pilsener glass. There is no noticeable freshness date on the bottle.

Appearance: The body has a dark golden honey color with very good clarity and lots of carbonation rushing to the surface. On the top sits a soft foamy white head that fades quickly. Lacing is minimal and slick.

Smell: Its aroma has a light character with hints of grainy malt sweetness and mild grassy/leafy hops.

Taste/Mouth: The flavor has a thin, mild sweetness overall. There are hints of sweet grainy malt, husk and toasted biscuits. Hop flavor is very mild and it offers very little bitterness for balance. It finishes fairly quick, crisp and clean. The palate has a smooth easy drinking texture with just enough carbonation and a medium body.

Notes: It's not the best or most complex Vienna Lager but it is drinkable with no off putting flavors.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Appearence: A one finger head, which was off white colured, a deep amber colour to the beer.

Smell: Smells like malt with a bit of citrus-y hops in the mix.

Taste: Definitely a mild beer, slight sweetness; but not near as sweet as Sam Adams Boston Lager(same style). A little bit of hops, no very prominent.

Mouthfeel: Smooth not, very thick, leaves the mouth a little dry with some lingering malt flavour. Mid-level carbonation.

drinkability: Pretty drinkable, it is a respectable beer, definitely worth trying, could probably use just a bit more in all its tastes though and it would be better, a good beer no the less though.

Note: I see that the ABV isn't listed, I've seen a couple of sources that say 4.7 - 4.8%t

Great Session beer. Very smooth with a really good taste. Could drink like 7 of these in 1 session. very easy to drink beer and very tasty. Overall pretty good beer and I really enjoyed it. Bottle is better then Draft. I was very impressed about how great it went down and like it a great deal more than the regular Dos Equis

Presentation: 12 oz. brown long neck. Gold label with gold artwork and a red/maroon XX. No freshness date to be found.

Appearance: Brownish copper in colour with a semi-sticky cream coloured lace that retains pretty well to the sides of the glass.

Smell: Touch of malt with toasted and sweet undertones. Very faint floral hop and trace alcohol also in the aroma.

Taste: Crisp and dry malt mouth feel of grain and a touch of husk, faintly light hop flavour and a residual sweetness hit in the middle and let through a very light bitterness. Malt is a little thin but the toasted character makes up for that a bit. The aftertaste lingers with left over residual dextrins and leaves the mouth clean.

Notes: One of the better lagers to be imported from Mexico and a better pick from mass-produced American amber lagers like Michelob Amber Bock and the like though pale in compairison to some of the more flavourful Vienna Style Lagers. Pairs well with mild bean or chicken burritos covered with Monterey Jack cheese.

Pours somewhat dark with an indifferent head. The smell is of grains, mostly corn. Taste is smooth. The hops are there, just not jumping out at you. Malt is weak. You get a strong taste of grain in this, not as bad as some, but you wish there was more malt. This is better than Corona, that's not saying much. Still, worth a try if your at a nice Mexican bistro.

Pours almond brown, light head, soft and foamy.
Nose is all malt. Flavor starts as all malt sweetness, then evolves into some breadyness, yeast, and caramel notes. Mild hopping. I remember when this was "the good stuff". This is a refreshing and decent quality brew. Works in a pinch when only macros are available.

Not a terrible beer, just kinds seemed flat and unimpressive. Better than dos Equis especial, but that's not in any way praise.

Served on tap in a pint glass with a slice of lime.

Appearance: Darker amber but clear in color. Small amount of white head that disappeared quickly.

Smell: Citrus and sweet adjuncts like rice. Mostly citrus due to the lime it was served with.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Light bodied and smooth. Taste sweet with a very small hint of bitterness, barely noticeable.

Overall: Decent beer. Refreshing and flavorful. I would have it again.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Pint.

Appearance: Clear amber with thin head and minimal lacing.

Smell: Very mild - light caramel, bread and spicy hops.

Taste: Caramel and bread-like malts in the forefront, with a twinge of spicy hops at the end.

Feel: Moderately high carbonation, medium body, somewhat spritzy.

Drinkability: While nothing spectacular, this has to be one of the best mainstream lagers around. Always good with standard fare and Mexican food.

Clear brown with a short white head. No lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel and cereal, possibly some grassy hops, and, as this is a Mexican beer, corn. Taste is the same, only watery. Works for Mexican food as there is nothing to fill you up. The original XX is better.

I ordered this at the Mexician restaraunt, before my meal.It came very chilled with a mug to match,I had to warm it up first.
The color was a rich looking medium copper color, with a 1" inch white head, dissapating into a white ring around the glass.
The aroma was a bit faint,no real hop presence. The smell i did get was sweet, caramelly, fruity a slight bit of a metalic aroma the faded away.
The taste was fruity, nutty, caramelly,a slight tartness, but not offensive.A mellow taste not very intense.
The mouthfeel was light to medium, more on the light side.A pleasing, slightly bitter finish, with a bit of a tart note.
A very smooth and refreshing taste, not a bit filling.A perfect score on the drinkability,I could drink this beer all night. It was perfect to wash the Mexican food down with.
The bottle said,"Brewed by a German brewmaster in Mexico"
There was a German flavor to this beer.
My favorite Mexican beer so far.
A perfect session beer,not a lot of flavor,but enjoyable,neverless.

Perhaps the best lager from Mexico, it has a nice brown color and is good with or without food. The mild flavor has bready caramel notes shark†eristic if the style.
