Poured from a brown bottle into a Boulevard Smokestack tulip. No freshness date on bottle but reviewed same day of purchase from a warehouse club sampler case.
A: Burnt sienna in color, clear with decent carbonation, off-white head with nice retention and very good lacing.
S: Toasted malts and a bit of bread. Somewhat faint.
T: Very lightly toasted malt and bread. A bit of hops with an alcohol bite at the end that I didn't expect from a 4.5% beer.
M: Light bodied beer with more of a malt profile than it's sister in the green bottle, yet still watery. Carbonation and alcohol bites the palate slightly at the end.
O: I really enjoy this style, and Dos Equis Amber is an honest effort from a macro. Not in the same conversation as a Sam Adams, but this is probably among the best choices at your local Mexican restaurant.
