355 mL bottle; best before June 2012. I wish they would use these brown bottles for their regular lager, too. Served a little bit warmer than fridge temperature.

Pours a beautiful and clear copper-amber colour, with about a finger's worth of lumpy, off-white head. Retention is poor but a decent creamy cap remains on the surface and sticks to the sides of the glass as smears of lacing. Nice malty aroma with some caramel and toasted grains. Some slight floral/fruity notes. Nothing special, but certainly not repelling.

Good, firm malty backbone with obvious German influences. Lightly toasted malt with caramel and brown sugar sweetness dominate at first, but there is some nice floral, grassy hop bitterness toward the finish that balances it nicely. Fairly clean finish without much aftertaste. Thin and watery like regular Dos Equis, but with less carbonation so it's a bit smoother.

I have also had a bottle of this served ice cold; this mutes the flavours and produces a very lame, C-grade Vienna lager. This is one that definitely benefits from ten minutes on the counter before being poured. Regardless of the serving temperature though, you can be assured that this is a much tastier beer than the majority of its Mexican lager counterparts. This is often the optimal choice at Mexican restaurants, and it's a respectable session beer if nothing else. I would not be opposed to drinking this again, but it's not something I'd ever get regularly.

Straggler left in my fridge from a friend. Tick away.

A- Pour is actually quite attractive. Large rocky, chunky off white head. Sits nicely on top of an amber and caramel brew. Some carbonation is evident. Spotty lacing on the glass where the head settled.

S- Sweet and bready malt dominate the nose. Faintest trail of hops. Fairly bland, but nothing offensive here.

T- Again, some sweet caramel malt and some breadyness. Crisp, smooth and refreshing to the taste. This would pair well with some spicy food.

M- Smooth in the mouth with a crisp finish. Small amount of carbonation felt on the back end. Has that "lager-esque" feel to it.

O- A decent brew. Certainly better than the adjunct/macro lagers out there. I would certainly choose this over corona. It has the look of an amber ale to it.
