S- Served from a chilled 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A- Light yellow color similar to a Bud light or a Coors light. Not much head to speak of, no retention or lacing either.

S- Faint aroma, not the best pilsner-style ale.

T- Not a whole lot of taste. Slightly watered down ale. Not full bodied or bitter.

M- Moderately carbonated and crisp feel.

D- Easy to drink, very light and watery.

Having just reviewed Carta Blanca at the same restaurant, I'll forgo a description of the "interesting" serving environment. Also having just reviewed Carta, I feel highly compelled to copy and paste that review here and replace references to rice with corn. But I won't.

A: A darker shade of gold than Carta, with better clarity to boot. Brilliant white head doesn't stick around, but leaves a trace of lace in its wake.

S: Adjunct heavy, but inoffensive. Corn is very evident, plus a bit of earthy hops. Certainly has more going on than its competition this evening.

T: Light and relatively refreshing. Corn tastes like the adjunct of choice, as there's a distinct sweetness here that rice and barley don't impart. Unfortunately, corn is my least favorite adjunct, as I think it overpowers any malt that might be in the mash with it if too much is used. That said, Dos Equis is better than most of the corn centered Miller beers I've had. The brewers must not have gone too over the top. Faint praise, I know, but I'm doing my best. Bitterness is there and actually has a bit of a lemon flavor. Finishes clean. You can let this one warm a little and not worry about it turning nasty. A definite plus.

M: Medium-light body is a touch syrupy. Carbonation feels about right.

D: This beer is nothing special, but it's a cut above Carta, and two or three cuts above Corona to me. It certainly goes down easily enough.

Because I'm probably insane, I've been trying all of the Mexican beers that are readily available at the Mexican restaurants in Denver. Dos Equis XX is my next to last stop on the trip. One more to go before I return to a steady diet of Bohemia and Negra Modelo with my enchiladas.

Very light color. A heavy pour only showed small amounts of head.

Not much to the smell. Definite corn characteristic. Malty sweet with a very small bit of hops.

Taste is not bad. Haven't had much in terms of Mexican beer but this beats the hell out of a Corona with or without the lime. There's nothing nasty here. It's malty sweet with a little corn characteristic. There's really not much here. It doesn't taste great but it's not nessisarily bad.

Finishes off with a thick, creamy, milky mouthfeel. Happy Cinco de Mayo.

The name and marketing definitely causes this beer to be overrated. Despite this, the beer is pretty enjoyable. It kind of tastes like a lower quality modelo's. The beer definitely has a crisp taste, but nothing that i distinguishably remember after having a six pack

This was one of the very first beers I had ever had when I turned 21. I loved it then. Returning to it now almost 4 years later, I just don't like. I poured it into the glass myself and, even after a hard pour, could barely get a head. Pale straw color with tiny white head. No lacing.

Smell is of corn mash and some bitter hops.

Taste is lame. Lacks any and all character. Just corn and some wheat maybe. Very watery with not alot of depth.

Mouthfeel is light carbonation and smooth.

I did not enjoy this beer this time. I actually thought about not finishing it... which is rare for me.

A- Pours into my mug a goldenrod color with a finger and a half of angel white head. The head dissipates quickly, more quickly than the carbonation rising from the bottom of the mug would indicate. Lacing...maybe a bit.

S- A simple aroma, and rather sweet. Sweet like cooked frozen corn and honey. Some malt- cookie dough, sweet holiday bread. And just a bit of lemon.

T- Taste is not nearly as sweet. Unexpected at this point, but appreciated. More malt- straw, white bread crust.

M- Light and goes down easy.

D- This is a bit one dimensional. Good for a hot day which tonight is not.

An average lager, I tend to go with this in mexican restaurants because about as decent as mexican lagers get. Pours a lazy yellow with a little lace head. The smell is of grain and hints of sugared malt, slight skunk, the taste is of a nice breaded grain mixed with a smooth crisp malt that cleanses the palate, light bodied and a good lawnmower beer.

I’m currently in a drought of craft beer as I am vacationing in Mexico, seems like the perfect opportunity to tick some Mexican beers.

A: clear, gold, fizzy, a razor thin collar of head. The color is a touch darker than what you get with other adjunct lagers.

S: the nose features cereal malts, corn, and a little bit of husk. Not as offensive as some of the comparable brews.

T: faint sweet malt notes up front followed by an empty and watery middle, a little bit of corn on the end, easy drinking. I guess you could say the lack of flavor is balanced well… if that’s possible…

MF: light body, high carbonation

O: well this definitely is a cut above Modelo Especial, and tends to be refreshing while sitting in the sun on the beach. I would say the amber version edges this one out. All in all, for what it is, its not bad… or offensive, just bland and flavorless as I would expect.

I was actually going into this expecting the worse, so it was almost a pleasant surprise. The look is average for a mass produced lager, nothing special.

The smell was very weak, nothing really stands out.

The taste was about average. Again, nothing really stood out. Slight malty taste in there, but it was barely evident.

The mouthfeel was fine. It went down smooth and didn't really leave any aftertaste.

I would say it's drinkable. If I was at a party where this was all that was available, I could see myself drinking a few.

Overall, it was not as bad as I had thought it would be, but I'm still wondering what makes this Dos Equis "special"?

Appearance: Next to no head, and when it did occur it disappeared almost immediately. The body is a slightly lighter then average blonde that has some steady carbonation.

Smell: Slight skunking but for the most part, bland and boring. Small notes of corn and straw. It's run of the mill in the worst way.

Taste: Starts with a mild rice and sweet corn taste that turns to fairly mild and generic hops. It's a bit watered down, but I sort of expect that from a mexican beer.

Mouthfeel: At the very end of the beer, the carbonation kicks in weird and a bit too soon. That and the lack of head doesn't do any favours. Apart from that, it's not bad.

Drinkability: Well it is refreshing, but the odd carbonation hurts it a bit, as it also leave you belching. Apart from that, no issues getting it down.

Final Thoughts: So, apparently the most interesting man in the world likes one of the world's least interesting beers. Maybe that's why he doesn't always drink beer. This beer is pretty generic, but I will give it that I would certainly choose it over Corona. You'll want a squirt a lime with this one.

Appearance: Light gold, thin bleach white head that died extremely fast, pretty nice lacing.

Smell: Light very sweet smelling malt and mixed grain, light floral. Reminds me almost exactly of budweiser-sweet smelling grain with a touch of light floral.

Taste: Sweet Malt and mixed grain, light floral, an odd metal taste almost like licking the bottle cap (I've done it oddly enough). Very light body; water-like. Champagne like carb on the tongue.

Final Thoughts: To be honest, if I was blindfolded and given this I would think someone filled the glass 50/50 Bud and Bud Light. Not interested personally, but it could have been alot worse.

Appearance - Beer pours a golden body with a 1/2 inch head. Lacing is minimal and NOTHING clings to the glass. I don't really want to drink this.

Smell - Caramel and skunk (bad smell) are prominent on the front. There are toasted malts and light hops here. Not impressed. I still don't want to drink this beer.

Taste - It is slightly sweet up front, but the skunk bad taste) comes through from the middle and all the way to the back end. Ugh....

Mouthfeel - The beer seems a bit too carbonated to me. If it were more creamy, the beer would get a little more credit, but it isn't. The balance is a little off.

Overall - This beer just doesn't do it for me. It might be drinkable, but it's drinkability doesn't do it justice. It's just plain gross and I will pass it up every time I see it. No wonder my Wife likes it...

Appearance is an amber color with a paltry white head that disappears quickly. I couldn't pick up much scent, maybe some very weak bread, but at least there's nothing funky going on here. Taste was surprisingly decent for an AAL. Malt flavors with a slight hint of lemon or lime, a little sweetness, and a buttery taste in the finish and aftertaste. Mouthfeel is thin. Quite refreshing and drinkable, and goes great with some Mexican food. If your beer choices are slim, this isn't a bad choice to make compared to other AALs.

A- Straw yellow, soapy bubbles. Nothing that stands out in the appearance.

S- I dont get much, wheat and grain is mainly what i smell. It is a pleasent wheat grain smell though.

T- Very well balanced beer, watery and a good wheat/hop taste. Not VERY hoppy but a definite easy drinker.

M- This isent my favorite beer style, but the flavors are balanced and make it a great party beer.

D- High on drinkability, i think the Amber Dos Equis is a better quality beer and would get that over this any day.

Not a bad beer at all. Peppery flavor with a nice bite. Smells sweet with hints of citrus and grain. Pale yellow that's darker than it's Mexican counterparts. If I'm out for Mexican food, I'd order this over Corona or Tecate. Although not spectacular, they really put some work into brewing it. Not bad at all.

There's a whole lot of Mexican American Adjunct Lagers out there and this one actually professes to be the work of a German brewmaster. It holds little German influence but ranks better than most Mexican beers as I was not compelled to throw a lime in it. For the most part the palate is met with a barley grain but hints of rice and a corn sugar sweetness take hold. The feel is very crisp, sugary sweet and a tad thicker than others from south of the border. This is better than some worst than others and right around OK.

Poured from a green 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.

Thin head doesn't last long. Disappointing. Pale clear yellow body. Pale malts, not much flavor. Kinda grassy. Very easy drinking. This is the most water-like beer I have had in a very long time. If you want to get drunk on water go for this beer.

Bottle served at Baja's in Hoboken...
Very similar to a Corona, with a noticeable corny, grainy, macro aroma...
Light, golden-colored hue with slight carbonation visible...
Crisp taste accentuated by a lime... Essences of corn, grains, bread and citrus abound...
Slick, watered-down mouthfeel, with an okay level of drinkability...
Nothing above and beyond for sure, but makes for a good, inexpensive social beer...

I just got back from an all inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen Mexico. The weather was great, the beach was great, the food was great, unfortunately this is the only beer on tap at the resort. There was Dos Equis amber, Tecate and Superior at the al a carte restaraunts and that completed the beer options.

Anyways, its as very pale gold beer with a fizzy shortlived head. Lacing is not very impressive. The aroma is light and sweetish, rather grainy. The taste is Grainy and again sweet. Theres more malt flavor then in Canadian macros for sure. The hops are too minimal. It has a bready lightly bitter and corny finish. The mouthfeel is strongly carbonated and watery.

This is a rather watery international lager that still is more flavorful than Bud or Canadian. Its pretty refreshing in the heat on the beach but doesnt have much flavor or complexity to offer.

Hmm, I sit here not hating this beer cause I'm thirsty and tired but in reality this is a fairly watery lager that has little real character. The nose is ciderlike( a sign of age) but the taste is still ok. Hints of corn but not too sweet in the finish make this ok fresh in a Mexican bar but not worth paying import prices for.

Pours medium gold with a foamy white head. No lace.

Some grass and light malt, a little skunk, a little mineral.

Some malt with a little corn sweetness, some light green veggie bitterness, or leafy notes, light bitter finish, fairly clean. Some mouth-sourness in the end, but not as much as some other adjuncts.

This one has some body, and some good carbonation. The body makes this more palatable.

Not horrific for the style, but I find that this could be better. Wanted some crisp edges. Got some bitter edges, but some sugars where I didn't want them. Skunk is skunk, and the nose wasn't so overpowering to make this entirely off-putting. But this is middle of the road American Adjunct.

Poured from bottle into pint glass.

A: Pours a light gold with a thin bubbly head that dissipates and leaves little to no lacing. Active carbonation makes its way to the top.

S: Mostly grain with some hops and a little sweetness.

T: Taste is surprisingly better than the smell. Very crisp and earthy. You can taste the malt/grain, some sweetness like citrus. Not an offensive taste, but nothing that will knock you off your feet.

M: Very crisp and refreshing. Carbonation is good and coating is good. Decent wet aftertaste.

O: Not a bad beer. It is crisp and easy to drink. A good alternative to the common beers.

A: Pale transparent yellow beer that is topped with a 1 fingered frothy white head that exhibited some retention, but very little lacing.

T: Sweet grains and malts, like the smell, dominate the taste. Short lived flavor, but one of the better macro brews around.

M: Light, but silky

Are you supposed to start thirsty and stay thirsty? What does the commercial imply? Tough to say, I guess. As I sip the watery lager, I can feel my beard growing more sexy by the swallow. At each faint brush of hop, I become more mysterious. What kind of man would drink such a flavorless beverage? It's tasty if you like that wet dog flavor in a beer. Not bad at all, eh? Very little to it, some faint hops and malt, distinctively watery.

Another brew from a "beers of the world" sampler pack...

Clearish straw color with a better head than some and lacks adjunct qualities. A bit of skunk smell, some sense of a weak hay. Malt is decent, some estery sense and elements of subdued nutiness. Mouthfeel is light and attenuates into a dryishness late. Some senses of raw grain and corn syrup. This brew is fairly mediocre overall, but has more malt goodness than many others from south of the border.
