Wow, clear painted bottle. Looks terrible. Smells like corn syrup at best.

Taste is nonexistant. Like more stale Corona. Barely perceptible beer things like hops, malt and yeast. Really just a bunch of water. Boiled vegetables all over the flavor, mouthfeel, aroma etc. . .

Funny thing is, this stuff costs more than Sierra Nevada!

Poured from bottle into English pub glass, pale yellow in color, smell is typical of this style little skunky and malty, taste is the same little skunk but smooth and very light, overall not horrible but better beers in the style

It's in a clear bottle, so chances of it being any good are low.
I still poured it into a glass for easy drinking.
Looks like an average yellow cheap beer.
Smells... bad. I don't know what it smells like other than cheap.
Tastes pretty bad. Reminds me of Corona Extra, it tastes bad, but not so overly powerful that you can't finish one.
Feels okay, easy to drink if you can get past the taste.
Overall, if it didn't come in a variety pack I wouldn't be drinking it. This being my first of 3 that the pack came with, I will not be buying this one again on its own.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pilsner glass.
LOOK: Pours with half a finger's worth of white foam that depressingly dies down into a line after 15 seconds. Straw yellow in color. Rising bubbles are subtle. Lacing is nigh absent.
SMELL: Mild aromas of corn and rice adjuncts are extremely noticeable (that's a first, usually it's either corn or rice with these styles of beer). Upon further inspection, subtle boiled cabbage aromas along with hints of wood, spicy hops, and bitter hops can also be detected.
TASTE: Strong rice adjuncts combine with mild corn adjuncts to create the initial taste. Mild boiled cabbage flavors and subtle bitter and spicy hop flavors enter immediately after. Just when you think this crap fest is done, subtle wood flavors enter as all previous flavors persist (this actually makes it slightly less crappy).
FEEL: Somewhere between light and Medium-bodied. This is overly carbonated. It freaking burns my tongue (or maybe it's just the bad taste). Doesn't go down smooth because of the carbonation, but it does have a really crisp finish.
NOTE: This is my first and only time drinking this beer. It's complete garbage and yet, I have actually had worse.

Pours a light golden color with very little head. Smell has woody aromas with some corn as well. Tastes like a watered down Czech Pilsener, slightly dry, no bitterness. Not really anything good to say here, but there are way worse adjunct lagers out there.

Among the best of the Mexican swills ... not going to win any awards for complexity but one cannot deny how refreshing this stuff is on a hot humid day .
Mexican session - beer galore . Not at the level of Bohemia but , also, cheaper than Bohemia .
One of my favorite session/hot weather beers of any . Period .

Sol is an easy-drinking, refreshing lager .This crisp, clean, golden lager is perfect On a hot summers day and complements spicy foods and barbeques dishes.

Taste much like a Corona but more sugary and less bitter and skunky. Still very corny and syrupy. Good refreshing beer in the hot summer and that's about it, faint taste and a weak body.

Citrus, with strong adjunct flavors. Watered down, beery lemonade. Taste isn't bad to me. It looks like pisswater and smells too. It makes a whole lot of sense to me to drink this on a summer day in Mexico. Better than most Mexican lagers like Corona, especially.

I'm much more into craft beer, local beer, etc than stuff like this.... But I would choose this over Corona and most other cervezas. It's pretty decent on a hot summer day.

A: Crystal clear yellow straw colr with large whit head that hangs around, little lacing

S: Hops up front, adjunct grains in background.

T: Sweetness of adjunct grains, light hop bitterness, crisp finish

M: Crisp, light feel, good carbonation

O: A rather enjoyable beer, pretty consistent to the style. Not a bad beer in my opinion.

Served in a clear bottle. Pours clear, light yellow color. Small, coarse head that dissipates almost immediately. Light, crisp flavor with a hint of citrus and a slightly dry, malty aftertaste. Very typical of an adjunct lager. Nothing special, not the best.

Taste is light grain and wheat with a touch of lemon. I would never rush out and purchase this beer as it is slightly above its competitors in the adjunct lager style. That said, I think this is infinitely more drinkable than Corona and several other Caribbean adjunct lagers. If I was not rating to style, this would come closer to a 2.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- Had a skunky smell to it, it wasn't overwhelming but it was there.
Appearance- A pale straw yellow, with a small white head.
Taste- A skunky flavor with some citrus and maybe grain or corn.
PALATE- A light bodied beer with medium carbonation.
OVERALL- Maybe this might pair well with Mexican food but I probably won't try it again. There are to many other Mexican beers that go well with food.

Very light beer with dominant skunky notes in the aroma. Pours clear and pale yellow with a mild white foam head. Smell is skunky and corny, taste is mild and body is watery.

I ordered Sol directly after the Modelo Especial. So this lager tasted like a watered down Miller Lite (yes, you heard me correctly -- watered down-- and that's saying something, given how watered down Miller Lite is). There was no body or carbonation to speak of and the taste was... well, there wasn't much taste. I learned my lesson here. I will not be revisiting this one.

A very light tasting Mexican beer. I squeeze a wedge of lime in to it. My days of strong tasting beer are few and far between. Good alternative to Dos XXX.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, there was no date on the bottle that I could find.

APPEARANCE: pours a clear pale yellow color with less than one-finger white head that dissipated almost completely in less than a minute, medium carbonation, there was a small amount of lacing.

SMELL: corn and faint lime, that's all I got.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, corn and faint lime, there is very little malt sweetness and very mild hops, kind of watery.

PALATE: medium carbonation, light body.

OVERALL: this is a lawnmower beer, nothing more, I would not willingly seek this out again unless there were no other options available.

Better tasting than I expected. Nothing to look at, more like yellow water. No smell, but for some reason that was not a bad thing. Feel is watery. But overall, I did not mind drinking it.

Of the three beers we had at our resort, Dos Equis, Corona Light, and Sol - I definitely enjoyed Sol the most. Excellent for pool/ocean side drinking, especially with a lime.

Sol béer importada.

The look of it: very very light. Golden color, lots of carbonation

The smell of it. Not very impressed by the smell. I will say more like a corny watery smell. Not very pleasant.

The taste of it: let's say it's watery with a very bad feeling at the end. U can taste a bit of cornyness to it but most it is water. Feels like a 2% ABV. The feeling after you drink that beer is horrible. Feels like a chemical beer.

So overall would I recommend it ? F*** No ! Even if a friend give it to u for your birthday, but that directly I'm the garbage

I just sampled a great many beers in Mexico, most mediocre at best, although I will endeavor to provide a focus on any differences I was able to discern and will also attempt some degree of objectivity. This one is actually harder to find than Corona and Pacifico, at least in Cabo San Lucas and surrounding area. Finally snagged one at an American burger joint. A pale yellow, maybe just a hair darker than Corona, with obvious effervescent fizz but no true head of which to speak. Aroma is the expected meld of creamed corn, skunk, rank grass, and ever so subtle citrus fruit notes. Little in the way of aroma per se, though. Again, just a hair more flavor than Corona but a near clone thereof, less corn and perhaps more of a citrus and grape candy note. In other words, slightly more mainstream lager "character". Does not improve as it warms, needless to say. Nil hop aroma or flavor but plenty of skunk in this here example. Far too fizzy, which serves to mask the few flavor elements present. Not great. Not worth a serious tasting session.

This Mexican beer poured nicely with a clear yellow color, 1 finger head and decent lacing. Looked pretty good! The aroma reminded me of a back road along a farm that had recently been fertilized. Add to that a dead skunk and it sums it up nicely. The taste? This is just one nasty beer! Let’s put it this way. An ice cold Rolling Rock is a glorious thing on a hot summer day. A piss warm Rolling Rock is well like… piss. This beer, even served ice cold makes me prefer a warm Rolling Rock! It was actually difficult to finish! A drain pourer for sure and not worthy of even beer batter for frying. 4.5%ABV

Serving style : 12 oz bottle poured into typical lager beer glass.

Appearance (4.25) : A hard center pour yields a fluffy, tight knit 2 fingered head that laces the sides and actually holds up quite well. Was not expecting that. The body is pale straw with excellent clarity and full transparency. Rings and rings of beautiful lacing follow the path downward. 4.25, I don't give those out easy.

Aroma (3.5) : Creamed corn, adjunct, and malt. Upon heavy inhalation there's crisp hay/grass and a little lemon. A very fresh smelling lager with no off-smells.

Taste (3.75) : Flavorful, biting, with quiet hints of creamed corn, nuttiness, straw, and faint hop. The beer just drinks. I had a piece of fried chicken a moment ago so that might help this beer a bit (I know, I know...greasy palate, it's a no-no, but lets be real it's a lager). The finish is corn malt and tiny hop. The burps are bubbly and pleasant. This is about on par with Modelo Especial, maybe better. I like it.

Mouthfeel (3) : Carbonated, light bodied, ends watery and dryly crisp.

Overall (3.74) : Why the hate for this beer? I can slam a beer just as easily as the next guy, but I have a hard time dogging this one. It's a cool, crisp, creamy Mexican lager that fits the bill - especially after KFC.

Edit : upon review of other write-ups from BA'ers, perhaps Sol changed their formula and its now great? My sample had a great head with rings of lacing, good crisp flavor and no skunk. Hm.

Sol brewed by Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, S.A. de C.V. with an ABV of 4.5% This brew pours out a nice golden amber color with a nice white head. Smells rich grains and corn. There is some skunkiness to this brew. The skunkness is not to overpowering in this brew. The taste is sweet with some grains. This brew has a light body to it. There is not a lot to this brew but it is good. Sol goes down smooth with no bad after taste. The mouthfeel is nice and clean. Overall I'm giving this brew 4 out 5. I would buy this brew again. I'm reviewing the bottle version of this brew but it is better in a can. If you are going to get this brew get in a can.
