Sol in Dubai. Was the first beer I had ever tried. Was really light on the taste buds and an easy enjoyable drink. Has a great golden colour, and smells like a proper lager should. Sol is still one of my favourites although my knowledge of beer is expanding everyday!

Great to have with a little bit of lemon juice and a salted rim on the glassware. Try it!

before I found real good craft beer this was my one better than corona beer. I liked it with or without lime or with a shot of tequila.

I do like it better than corona. Like corona it is a corn, rice, malt mixture. Unlike corona its less skunky and a more sunny.

Great for a hot day and with enchiladas or fajitas.

poured from the bottle in a pilsner glass

A - Pours a perfectly transparent straw. Plenty of carbonation rises up one side of the glass to a dense, white, three-finger head. Head is gone halfway down the glass. Leaves behind an impressive web of lacing on the top two-thirds of the glass.

S - Almost nothing here except some light grain notes and sour corn.

T - Cereal grains up front. The body is a mixture of cereal grains and sugary corn malt. The hop profile is slightly more aggressive than the american big three. Bitter corn finish.

M - Light bodied with plenty of carbonation. Noticeably more substantial than seltzer water.

Despite reminding me of the corn pops I used to eat as a kid, Sol is a notch better in nearly every respect than the big three macros. This is the first beer i've tried from the "Beers of Summer" variety pack I got on clearance at World Market for $7.50. I'm glad it only contained one Sol and hope the remaining beers have more soul.

A - Crystal-clear pale yellow body under two finger foamy white head, actively rising carbonation bubbles

S - Corn, cooked grains, very slight malt and alcohol.

T - Sweet grains, hops, and alcohol. Smooth, dry, crisp finish.

M - Watery, light body with abundant carbonation.

O - On a hot day down in the Yucatan where I travel on a regular basis this beer is refreshing if you slam a lime into it or make a Chelada of some sort. This said, I do prefer Sol over Corona but will seek out Bohemia over both.

Poured into a standard pint glass. The beer is a clear light straw color. A white, fizzy head dissipates to nothing in no time. Minimal lacing somewhere in the middle of the glass. The beer smells skunky and of corn husk. Not much in the way of taste. Slightly sweet corn and grains, along with some skunk due to the clear bottle. Mouthfeel is carbonated and light.

Overall, I used to love Sol, before I got heavily into craft beer. As it turns out, Sol isn't a whole lot different than Corona. I think it's still better than Corona, and I did drink this on the beaches of Playa del Carmen and it's ALWAYS good in that situation. Otherwise, don't pay $8 for a sixer of this. If you need an adjunct lager fix, go with something cheaper, it's all the same anyway.
