Pour a very thin looking yellow straw color with a medium thick soapy white head and no lacing. Smells of wet hay and corn and some olive oil. Tastes of sweet corn and some malts and some very mild hops. Mouthfeel is medium with a huge amount of carbonation. Drinkability is okay.

Bottle/12oz - Pours a bright yellow/amber in color with a very small head and little carbonation. Aroma is pretty skunky (clear bottle) with just a hint of grainy malts and no hops to speak of. Flavor is pretty skunky too with some grains and a bit of an "industrial" taste at the end that made it less than pleasant. Needs lime or some tequila to go with it.

A: The beer pours a crystal clear yellow color with a very small white head but some vigorous carbonation bubbles.

S: Smells like corn, a lot of corn, with some toasted grain. Fairly grassy with a mild bitterness. There is a definite "foot" smell to it, and not in a good way (like you sometimes find in lambic).

T: Tastes like sweet corn or perhaps corn syrup. There's some rice in there too, I think. The grain flavor is sort of burnt and quite unpleasant. Surprisingly not skunky considering it was in a clear bottle. It just doesn't taste good, though.

M: The body is light with a medium level of carbonation.

D: Not something I'd really care to have again. Luckily it was free to me, so I can't really complain about the tick too much.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of July 2011. I've always like the stylised art on the label of this beer.

Poured into a pint glass. A straw yellow colour with strong carbonation. A small foamy white head that subsides quickly but leaves a decent surface covering. Smells of light malt and corn, with a whiff of something else like solvent. Not a great aroma.

The taste is weak - again some very light malt and corn flavours. Nothing that could really be described as bitterness. Faint undertones of grain and an off-flavour (fermentation by-product?). Mouthfeel is thin and watery; leaves only a slight grainy aftertaste.

An insubstantial lager. Bland - nothing to grab your attention. Most of the past occasions where I've consumed this beer have involved adding a lime to the bottle; this improves it greatly but a requirement for fruit is hardly an endorsement. Probably quite refreshing in a hot climate, but there are plenty of other beers out there. Avoid.

About one finger of head, dark gold body with rosy hues. Smells sweet but has some metalic qualitites. Taste has a little of that same metalic. Both smell and taste have noticeable ethanol. A little toasty banana bread in the taste. Mouthfeel is smooth with nice carbonation. A little sweet but still strong on the butter. Very drinkabout. Thin bodied. Not too much hops taste. Leaves a clean palate. This beer would be so much better without that metalic taste and if it wasn't so watery. It has potential but those bring it down alot.

Picked up a sixer of these when I was out in Cozumel, Mexico. Beautifull place, by the way, that I would highly recommend visiting for at least couple of days...

A - Pours piss yellow with a one finger froth head that dissipates almost immediately. Much to my suprise, a decent amount of lacing sticks to the glass. Wasn't expecting that. Nice...

S - Don't get to much out of the smell except maybe some mild citrus hops followed by a slight alcohol scent. Doesn't smell to enticing...

T - Not much going on here either. All I get is bread and corn. Like the smell, it ends on a slight alcohol taste...

M - Pretty watered down for my likings. A definite light bodied beer with lots of carbonation...

D - Not something I would buy again unless I was in a pinch. However, if I was in that situation, or was visiting Mexico again, I could see myself putting a few of these back...

Super thin weak appearance, white head of the smallest dimension. Clear bottle. Aroma was that of water and corn.

Rough texture to the beer, gritty, corn husky, alcohol too evident for such a weak beer all around. Vegetables cookin' on the grill. Why is this stuff $7 a 6er? Garbage dude.

330ml clear as day bottle. I recall dropping a buck a pop for this stuff at a wedding in Chicago many years ago, because I didn't want to drink Bud. Sigh.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden straw colour, with two fingers of puffy, and thinly foamy bone-white head, which leaves a few random swaths of inkblot lace around the glass as it steadily settles.

It smells of stale creamed corn, overcooked vegetables, a slight pithy graininess, and a certain weedy skank. The taste is sweet, glutenous corn mash, a touch of wet cornbread and the box it may have come in, a bit of stinky weedy hops, and some weirdly out of place metallic, acetone-adjacent alcohol.

The carbonation is quite low and hard to pin down at times, the body on the light side weight-wise, and quite airy in its thin wispiness, with a certain grating, cloying edge. It finishes sweet and corny, and nothin' but, yet otherwise clean, in the manner of strained corn water.

As far as this particular soulless corner of beerdom is concerned, Sol is a passable enough member - nothing all that skunky, once past the nose, which is surprising, given the serving vessel. A plain and innocuous adjunct lager, and, relatively speaking, drinkable enough in certain common situations, where the weather and/or beer selection conspire against you, and perhaps the food is spicy enough for one not to care.

I poured this from a 32oz-er into a pint glass. It was very bubbly.

It smelled like any other adjunct lager only much more faint...oh, and no skunkiness like a Corona!

Like the aroma the taste was similar to all the other adjunct lagers. For me, what made this distinctive was its light crisp taste. This one is on the lighter side of the swill flavor. It had most of the adjunct characteristics - the grainy corn flavor, little hops, etc. However, I didn't find anything too offensive about this. It didn't leave much of an aftertaste, mainly because there wasn't much taste to begin with.

I guess in order to be offended a beer would have to have something to it. Therefore, due to the lack of strong characteristics this beer falls short of offensive. It's barely on the radar - basically it's an unobtrusive little amigo. I feel kinda sorry for it.

Reviewed from notes.

Poured into a pint glass. The pour brings a yellow colored body with a very thin white head of large bubbles that disappears nearly as quickly as it forms, kind of like a soda. Nose is light grain and some adjuncts. The taste is just gross. It's kind of like Corona, but perhaps worse. Light grain with some bitter husks. Very light body. Lots and lots of carbonation. Again, not good. If that's all some place has, I'll have a water. Same taste, less filling, to paraphrase what some might say.

Look - Very clear and straw-like in color. Very little foam, which dissipated quickly as well. Good carbonation.

Smell - Quite faint smell of hops, but outside of that there's almost no smell at all.

Taste - Not a whole lot to the taste, but what's there is a hoppiness which lacks in bitterness. Lack of bitterness could be due to the use of cereal grains. Texture is surprisingly more toward the creamy side. I was expecting it to be very very light and watery.

Drinkability - Can't say it's a bad brew because I can't really taste anything. But that being said it's kind of boring. Otherwise alright.

Pours an extremely pale straw color with active carbonation, no head. Scent is pale cooked corn and light malt. Taste brings the same qualities as scent. Body is light and watery. Similar to Corona with slightly more adjunct flavors and even more watery.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Straw yellow color, a small head formed and a little bit of lacing developed as well.

S: Weak corn, malt, and a slight funk

T: More of the corn and some malt. Has a slightly a dry finish.

M/D: Light and very thin, sort of refreshing I guess. It is a less commercialized version of Corona, but a little better. Always served with a lime, which speaks to how great it is. Could do worse, but not hard to do better.

A buddy of mine left this at my place after a poker game.

Poured into a pilsner: Clear, golden straw body with a few strands of nucleation under what used to be a two finger head but has dropped to a thin, foamy covering & collar, leaving some lacing around the crown.

Sugary, a little like raw bread dough with a slightly sour smell. Buttery, maybe?

Taste starts off decent enough, with some of the same notes present in the smell. Quickly deteriorates into tap water with chlorine. Yep, like someone dumped a lager into a swimming pool.

Thin, a little sugary again, but with a kind of mineral or even metallic feel to it, like after you've sucked on a penny. Hmmm.

Goes from boring to crappy. This is one to end the night with, after you've drank the good stuff and there's not much taste left in your mouth. If you go back for more, I'm going to assume you're already hammered.

Half bad aromas of malt, not healty fruittones on the nose at all.

Light, both in taste and body. Bad and unplesant foam. Short aftertaste, that taste like nothing.

I have no idea why I bought this beer....
But I will not do that mistake again! Ever!

Thankfully, this sample was not skunked (poured from a clear glass bottle). Sol has a thin, white head, a very clear golden appearance, and a surprisingly low carbonation level. Aroma is of some sort of vegetable matter, which I suppose is the barley malt. The taste is mild, and has a lightly roasted barley flavor, with a dash of hop spice underneath. Mouth-feel is light and watery, and Sol finishes rather crisp and refreshing. This should go well with corn chips, salsa, and guacamole. Even with the unusual (not bad) aroma, I must say that I did like it and rate it higher than I expected. I would definitely have this again.

So this I have no excuse for other then trying to knock out the bottom of the barrel list as quick as possible. A short trip to the store revealed most of these sitting there, rip for the taking. Decided to try a few last night and just go with it. Served cold and right from the bottle, this was consumed on 08/11/2010.

Same pale golden pour I have come to expect from everything this lovely evening. A small head of white caps the top, but it quickly settles down into a thin film that barely clings to the sides of the glass. Aroma is corn, grain, hints of light musky and moldy bread. Nothing really to write home about for sure. Crisp, clean taste is barely a taste at all, maybe some light grains, touches of bready notes and a hint of something light in the back, maybe light grasses and a small touch of bread.

Overall another macro lager that just is what it is. It has a place for everyone, just not in my fridge, not again.

This is just another generic gold colored beer like Budweiser or Coors.

Looks like a watered down lager.

Smells like corn, with a little bit of wheat.

Taste like the hops ran through it. Does nothing to impress, just way to generic of a beer in taste and feel.

Could easily drink a lot of this beer, but why would you want too?

A- pale golden. it merits some points for the bit of lacing it accumulated.
S- Smell is of corn cob and that's about it. hard to distinguish.
T- A bit of corn and just a bit of generic hop flavor. but that hop flavor is more than most adjuncts can say.
M- sweet, thin, finishes dry. but generally too thin.
D- Not that great of a beer. Very average mexican lager.

Clear long-necked 33 cl bottle with a label in white and golden with a rising sun in gold. Looks kind of nice.

A: Pours pale golden with a really large white fluffy airy head that sinks quickly and leaves only little lace.

S: Faint. Grainy notes together with citric notes. Obviuos corn. But there's almost no smell at all!

T: Almost no taste at all. Corn and grain, faint citric notes. Sweet.

M: Aftertaste is a lot better than anything else in this beer, it lingers for some time and holds some sweet bitterness. Body is thin and carbonation is rich.

D: A warm summer day on the beach - this beer will do the trick. But any other time or place - avoid!

I had this at a Thai restaurant in Tulum, MX. Since I like to have a lager with spicy food, this was just right.

The bottle and the beer itself seems a bit pale like some of the cheaper beers we have back in US. The smell was unremarkable and it tasted good. It went down smooth and felt very clean on the tongue.

As with a lot of Mexican beers, they tend to taste better closer to the source, so I will have to try it again sometime and compare.

Clear 12oz bottle poured into 10oz glass. The big question was, would this beer, being in a clear bottle, be light skunked? The beer was a very clear yellow, with an inch of foamy white head that dissipated quickly and left no lacing.

Nope, no skunk in the aroma, no other scents either. A very slight grain taste was the only clue that I was drinking beer and not water. The body was typical for the style. Drinkability was good, but, unless you're sitting on a warm sandy beach somewhere, would you? Drink this just to check it off your list.

S: Grainy, similar to American adjunct lager.

From a bottle served with lunch at a La Caretta Mexican restaurant. Sampled on April 29, 2010. It poured straw yellow with a quick burst of fizzy white head and thin lacing. The aroma is fairly bland with a note of malts in the mix. The taste is about the same with a vaguely malted element and a watery mouthfeel. Typical for thie kind of Mexican adjucnt beer.
