25 floz. bottle. Lager glass. (From my notes: Bought at “Mexican Week” in a mall. Enjoyed at home). Brownish amber color. Chill haze. Off-white, large bubbled, froth creates a two finger crown. Not much retention. Caramel malt, sweet malt, slightly hoppy aromas. Flavor as expected from aromas: sweet maltiness & moderate toasted touch. Herbal & earthy hops provide subtle bitterness. Medium to light body. Medium to high carbonation. Fizzy & watery. Refreshing & drinkable. Nice pairing in Summer with Mexican food.

First reviewing a saved brew from my trip, then adding my notes of this same beer.

Poured into a standard pint glass, color is amber, suprisingly good head, light tan in color.

Smell is mild caramel malt, but thin, with grainy undertones.

Taste is thin, light caramel malts, lighter malt backbone with just thing graininess.

Mouthfeel is solid for a lager, slight caramel sweetness what would probably be a too crisp beer, that said a touch too carbonated.

Overall, just a thin caramel lager that looks very good; some solid malt flavors and backbone are just lacking

Clear dark amber to light brown colored beer with a small tan colored head.

Smell is sweet and malty with a grassy hop aroma. Toasted grain and nut with a little toffee. There is a caramel aroma to this.

Starts out dry and yeasty. Toasted grain with a medium grassy hop flavor. Little bit of bitterness in the finish.

Mouthfeel is light.

Overall certainly easy to drink but the flavor doesn't deliver what the smell promises.

Bottle of 355 ml, ABV 4.1% , reviewed live.
On a google search some days ago for mexican beers to try while at the Yucatan peninsula I came onto one saying that Indio is really for the low class, Indio blooded. Racist, I know. Colour is really impressive, dark amber, and there I was, thinking it would be just another immitation of Corona like beers. No head whatsoever though and no lacing.
I was expecting some caramel on the aroma, based on the colour and yes it's there, only not so obvious as with other beers of the kind. But with a swirl of the glass it is traceable, you have to try a bit hard though to distinguish it.
Untill now a positive impression, on the taste front though, not much to report. Pleasantly drinkable but it's as you drink water, seriously, it is tasteless.
Watery also on the palate and very light carbonation.
Overall, if they can add some more taste I can see it turning into a serious challenger for other mexican beers out there.

Picked up a bottle in Mexico City.
Really odd 1970's space future pyramid lego. Like a Disney ride logo in Tomorrowland.

Amber-ish clear color, no head.
Nose is grainy malt. Maybe some slight hops.

Taste is metallic malts, again a tiny hint of hops. Tastes mostly like a macro lager. Not much there.

Pass.

Tasted 23 December 2011, reviewed from notes. On a family trip to the Yucatan, and wanting to try some Mexican beers not available in the US. The odd label on this one caught my eye.

Pours a deep amber color, quite a bit darker than I expected. Clear, with minimal head and essentially no lacing. Color might be the highlight of the beer - it's a rich, warm brownish amber color.

Smell is faint lagery hops, but not much else. I can't really detect much of anything in the smell, even after letting it warm up.

Taste is more malty and a bit more potent, but still pretty weak. The bready malt character surprised me. Hard to describe the flavor because there's so little of it, and it fades really fast.

Mouthfeel is actually pretty bad. Has a tiny burst of carbonation early on, that's gone in about a second, leaving it feeling flat, dull, and sad. Maybe worse than water.

Tastes like a bland amber lager. Not terrible, but almost totally flavorless. Definitely not worse than most of the offerings around here, but not much better.

963rd Review on BA
Bottle to Pint

No bottle date
Purchased at a small shop in Ensenda, MX on 11/26/11

App- Rich light brown with some amber. Looks a bit like a watered down soda with all the head and bubbles gone. The head was only about 1/2 in thick and a bit creme in color. Only a couple dots of cling.

Smell- Really there isnt a lot going on the aromatics. Really lacking but slightly dectecable was a bit of doughy malts with a bit of plum in the nose.

Taste- I think this really is the right classification for this beer. Not a mexican lager either light or dark but very much close to a marzen with the bready malts and a bit of spice. Very watery. A bit better than most mexican offerings but not something you need to seek outs. The taste reminds me much like the color of being too watery and underflavored.

Mouth- A bit of medium body with hints of watery lightness and a medium carbonation level. Leaves a malty plum flavor behind. Not bad.

Drink- Well its a Mexican beer brewed to a style of German decent. What could go wrong. I think this needed more bold flavors and to bump the ABV beyond 4.5% If say closer to 6.5 or 7% flavors could be pushed and the wateriness would be gone. Even if I go back to mexico, probably wont have this one again.

For it's price this is great beer, much better than Corona and on par with the more expensive Victoria. With an amber color, tasteful flavor, clean body and darker finish than most Mexican beers (other than Bohemia), Indio is great option when deciding on beers in Mexico. It's quite unfortunate that it is not exported.

Muddy and brown in color, not much head but a little lacing. Moderately attractive but not overly different from many of the darker Mexican lagers.

Somewhat bready with a faint hint of raisin and an earthiness more of malt than hops, or rather from the yeast. Munich-like but way too clean for Germany. Super faint.

The flavor is quite nondescript. Bready and slightly sweet, malt-driven but fairly light. Grainy finish, ample carbonation pulling any residual sweetness. Body is very light, mouthfeel is almost like water. At 4.5%, shouldn't be noticing any burn, and we definitely don't here.

Drinkable but a little faint unless you're putting in a good session.

Cerveza Indio acquired from Tijuana BC
Poured from bottle into a standard British pint-glass.

Appearance: Color is amber the head is soapy and light in color.

Aroma: Not much of an aroma, smells typical of its style. There is some burnt malts in this one

Mouthfeel: Thin to medium bodied well carbonated.

Taste: Grany corn and malt-like taste. This beer tastes great for its price.

Overall: This, needless to say, is no craft beer so it is nothing to rave about. Nevertheless, this is perhaps the perfect Mexican session beer. It is a good summer beer quite refreshing and inexpensive if you can get it. It is available throughout different regions of Mexico, I am not sure if it has made the states yet though.

Beautiful, clear deep amber colour. Decent level of carbonation and fine bubbled head.

However no discernible aroma whatsoever and almost indistinct flavours. Missing the bready maltiness I'd expect in a Maerzen. Despite the colour, also missing the entire spectrum of caramelized flavours as well.

Certainly not the worst beer I've had in Mexico - less "adjunct" than many - but not one I'd purchase again.
