Another "fine" choice on the mini tour at Old Chicago. Poured the typical yellow fizzy stuff with little head. NO aroma and, again, too sweet of malt. I guess swet (corn) malt is a must have for these brews; not offensive but, again, nothing I'd go out of my way to have again. I'll keep doing the mini tours to keep the shirts going (since '92) but...

It smells like metallic cheap cereal grains. It tastes a bit metallic and a bit like cheap wet cereal grain. It isn't sweet at all. It has a hint of bitter hops even. So, that's a plus, but overall it's not very good. I'd consider Sol to be better. This is a lot like Busch, but more bitter and with a bit more flavour.

Pours insipidly clear gold with mega fizz, no head. Just looks like ginger ale, watery and fizzy with no classic beer character at all.

Smells fairly weak with some mild, faint grain and a meakly sour character. Kind of soft drink-esque, with little more than a carbonation smell and some distant grain that may have been turned into great beer, but wasn't.

Taste starts off insipidly sweet with a light touch of artificial vanilla flavour, trails off towards the mid which is weak with a slight tang from the carbonation, then finishes with touches of sweet grain giving bland bread grain and it thankfully stops short of being cloying. In fact it stops short of being anything, including beer.

Mouthfeel is thicker than I expected, lots of tingle from the carbonation still. Not good, anyway.

Yeah, look, it is what it is. And what it is is bad beer.

Much like any other traditional lager. Minimal color, taste and quality. poured into a glass and watched the head disappear rather quickly. The aroma of malts are there but not much else. It's got a nice drinkable body to it, but still nothing overly impressive.

Ive had this beer before in a bottle and enjoyed it, i expected to like it again when i had again for the 3dof 4rth time in ( but in a can this time)

looks suprisingly good, i dont remeber it looking this good, the body looks almost like a Urwiesse from erdinger super persetnt white head, nice little carb bubbles flowing up through the bubbles in a spiral type shape
darkish gold for a american adjunct ager,
little yeast specks

smells bad
kinda malty , a predominant smell of feet, its gross no that i recognized it as that becau7se it makes me not want to drink it.
gives me bad images in my mind about the production of it.

kinda chemically and some hops, not what i remember tasting like.the yeast at the end is the only semi redeeming thing

watery , very light,

Poured from a can while at a resort in Mexico. The beer pours a crystal clear yellow-gold color with thick, bubbly white head that vanished quickly. Smells a bit musty, with slight sour tones, malt, and corn. The beer is light, round and crisp in mouth, with toasted oat and malty flavors. Aftertaste is musty, and lingers a bit. It leaves a slight film in mouth. Nothing remarkable, but when in Rome...

I think Tecate gets a bit of a bad rap by many American beer tasters who have recently discovered dark beers. I weighTecate against some of the best lagers and pilsners around the world, and Tecate is among the very best. It has a nice look with a wonderful mild flavor with a touch of sweetness.

Goes down with the sounds of Brazilian jazz artist Airto Moreira and Flora Purim.

I was on the lake winning, reviewed a Tecate...
I poured a 12 oz can into a clear plastic cup. The beer was a pale straw yellow with a pretty big white head. Smells like grains and corn with as hint of lime. Tastes kind of salty, mettalic and bready. The beer is watery, it is refreshing in the heat. Drinks like water.

So over all I think Tecate Beer is very good and pretty smooth. I really liked the flavor, and I thought the beer was strong enough to give me a nice buzz. This is one of the best beers on the market. If you have not tried it yet, go get a pack! They are worth the money. Long live Tecate Beer!

Ok, this beer is similar to Corona and arguably more popular in Mexico than Corona is. And is the premier lime beer.

When drank straight:
Color is clear, clear, clear.
Head is light.
Lacing is virtually non existant.
Taste is what you would expect of a mass produced beer.
That being said.
The lime should not be put in the bottle. It ruins the taste of the beer and in my opinion should only be done in a can.
1. Crack the can open.
2. Put salt on the rim spout. "Not" in the beer.
3. Pour the lime around the rim without letting it go into the beer.
4. You should see the lime and salt mixing on the rim.
5. Take a swig of the beer and just feel as all the ingridients mix in your mouth. It will be an explosion of flavor. A lot better than when mixed in the bottle.

After 2 beers of doing this the feeling is lost so go to drinking it straight or better yet go to drinking something stronger.

473ml Can

Appearance - The beer pours a clear gold/yellow colour with an average size fizzy white coloured head. There is a low amount of carbonation showing and there is a faint amount of lacing on the sides of the glass. The head lasted for under a minute before it began to dissipate.

Smell - breads/grains, hops, corn syrup, metallic notes

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an above average amount of carbonation and it feels light on the palette. The taste is made up of lots of breads/grains mixed with a corn syrup sweetness and a little bit of hops. It finishes with a bread/grain aftertaste.

Drink - Nothing special here but also nothing offensive. For the price is a fairly drinkable beer - you could do worse for sure.

Pours a very light straw color with a thick white head and very little lacing. Smells of corn and hay and a little sweetness. Tastes much the same, some corn, hay and some sweetness. Mouthfeel is okay with a ton of carbonation. Drinkability is medium, its not the worst of its style.

Mazatlan 1998, baby! Average fizzy white head that mostly diminished. Spare lacework. Clear sparkling body with a pale yellow color. Aroma of cardboard and hay. Over the palate came light caramel and hint of grainy feel. Light bodied with an average carbonation and thing light dry texture. Light sweet flavor with a hint of bitterness. Light malty sweet finish.

Tecate is my favorite bad movie. Even after all this craft beer, and even after my newfound hatred of Corona and consequent love for Miller Lite, I've come back to Tecate.

Out of Mexico, this American Adjunct Lager tastes like corn, straight up. It looks solid, with a little carbonation peeking through the filtered clear straw colored body. In my glass there's actually decent lacing, though not much head to speak of - even when I poured it out hard. It's cold, and I better not let it warm, because the smell will probably change from what it is now. I'm getting corn, water, and sugar in the nose.

The taste is about the same, and there's a very sweet character to it. I hesitate to call them malts, but I assume that's what it is. A tiny hop presence too.

I mean hey, this is 9 bucks for a 12 pack at my local bodega. I'm not expecting greatness. I'm expecting 4.5 alcohol by volume, a light body, and an easy drink.

Tecate provides. Like a bad movie with cheap thrills. Yum.

I bought this in a 8-pack Beers of the World variety pack from Woodman's in Janesville, WI for $12 in late 2010.

Pours a light amberish color with some slight scents of grain and malts. Has a very light taste with the only main elements that I can pick out are grassy grains and some malts. Very silmilar as cheap mass produced domestic beer. Something new to try if you haven't had it before, but no taste here as it is very bland.

I got the 24 oz. can for $1.98 at Winco Foods. This is the beer Evil Dick drank on Big Brother 8. I bought a twelve pack a couple years ago and thought it tasted so watery and bad I threw it all down the drain. I guess Winco always carries this but I never noticed. Taking another chance. Didn't buy it to review but I'll do it anyway. ;)

Appearance: pours a crystal clear yellow color with a white 1" head that falls quickly. A few carbonation bubbles rise from the bottom of the glass.

Smell: a hint of grass is all that can be detected.

Taste: a mildly grainy malt profile with grass, corn, barely a hint of citrus, and a very mild bitterness.

Mouthfeel: light in body. Crisp throughout. Clean aftertaste.

Drinkability: selected this with a mexican meal. It did not pair well with the spiciness. Boring beer overall.

this is what you would expect from a beer from mexico, thin watery corn dominated lager that's only meant for chugging, i cant say that this differs much from corona and seeing that tecate is cheaper, its a no brainer.

t- slightly corn sweet lager taste

A- About one finger of persistant off white head. Dark gold with some ruby hints.

S- Somehwat fruity, a little grainy, but not that unique.

T- Very bitter, begining and even more so at the end. Some sweetness however and a little bit of hops flavor. Not astounding.

M- Not too thin of thich, nice carbonation, refreshing.

D- Drinkable to be sure. But I don't really want another one any time soon.

One finger snow white head, lace broken and little cling. Color is a 5 on the SRM beer color chart. Smell of wet corn, and malt. Taste is of corn, and malt. Much water feel in my mouth. This beer was given to me by a friend, and I doubt I would ever pay good money for another.

12 oz bottle poured into Pint Glass

A: Straw yellow about a fingers worth of head and dissipates to nothing with no lacing at all.

S: Grains, grass and some alcohol.

T: Very typical of most adjunct Mexican lages... Corny with a little sweetness and a touch of grass, just a slight bitterness. Not much here.

M: Light and watery, lively carbonation.

D: Low ABV and easy to drink by not much here, pretty average overall...

Served in a glass without the traditional lime and salt. Have this reviewed with lime and salt on notes, which will be reflected in the comments but not the scores.

Yellow and crystal clear. Fairly good head but dissipates quickly and leaves some halfway decent lacing, but that doesn't last either. I expected more rising bubbles but there weren't many.

Smells slightly of skunked wheat. Can't say it's very appealing to the nose.

Tastes pretty good for the style. Slightly lemony with grainy malts and not much hops.

Really for the style it should have more carbonation. Other than that it's watery, dry, and slightly bitter in the aftertaste.

Drinks so-so to partly cloudy. Surely better than a typical BMC adjunct, but doesn't stand out other than "it's better than most Mexican style beers."

Served with lime and salt it's fine for Mexican food, but mostly the additions make it taste like salty limes.

Definitely heavier than Corona. Although its mouth feel is quite acidic, meaning not much in the ways of Citric Acid put into the wort for this process (a good thing). Goes well with burgers and meats (whether processed or not is up to you)

Interesting session though! Cheers!!

this was drank in a 32oz cuguama in a brown paper bag. this beer tops just about tops all other beers in its price range or genre. i usually prefer to keep it in a can or bottle just cus the look of it is kinda unappealing unless you get it on draft. the taste is a grainy corny taste with a slight lime citrus flavor and bite at the end the smell is about the same. its a great beer if your having some mexican food or maybe if your having company over well priced and not half bad.

side notes:growing up mexican in southern california ive drank this beer alot if you can get it in mexico its better, its probably best served ice cold and with some lime and salt and/or chilie powder. beware if you drink too many of these they can deal a hangover that can make you throw things up that you ate in high school.
