Bottle: standard 330mL green bottle with a better-than-average macro label.

Appearance: just about right for a pilsener - light-to-mid golden amber with a steady stream of carbonation and a limited head that settles to a film.

Aroma: a strong smell of bitter grains, with little in the way of hops to counter it.

Taste: a pleasant surprise after the aroma. The bitterness has been replaced by a slightly sweet grain and some floral and grass hops. Quite nice, and certainly refreshing.

Aftertaste: both the floral hops and sweet grains linger quite nicely. This is a good sessional, but could also be had quietly over a good conversation.

Mouth feel: light-to-medium in body with perfect carbonation for the style. Easy drinking - certainly goes down well with food or by itself.

Overall: not a bad beer at all. If you compare it to the standard XXXX, VB and New - which you can since they are all roughly the same price - I think this one takes the cake. Not the greatest beer in the world, but it never sets out to be. A good all-rounder.

A: Pours a pale golden color with a decent head that fades to bits of lacing.

S: Mild aroma of malt, some fruit and grain.

T: Taste of mild malt sweetness, trace of fruit and grain. Mild bitterness and a fairly clean finish.

F: Light body, smooth and a bit refreshing.

O: Not a bad beer for what it is, another Euro Lager in an ocean of lager beers.

Well, this one tasted more like a Euro Pale than an American Adjunct. Poured a clear straw colour with an inch of lathery head into a pils glass. As expected, the head did not last more than 30 seconds. Smell was of pale malt, leafy, grassy with a wee bit note of hops. Tasted fairly malty upfront, adjunctless (no graininess in taste) with a metallic finish leading to bitterness (not from hops though). The finish is clean and crisp, making it ideal for hot and sunny days. Other than that, nothing much to write home about.

Pale yellow with a medium head, standard standard lager appearance. Fairly strong malty smell on opening bottle, slightly metallic as time goes on but no skunkiness. Pleasant smell for a cheap lager, actually.

Flavor is medium bodied, fairly easy to drink, standard lager fare all around. A bit malty, easier to drink than not.

Well what can i say but this is definately not my most favourite of the hahn beers but definately not the worst it pours a standard australian golden lager colour and on the nose i can smell quite wet, grassy, hoppy characteristics quite similar to a freshly cut lawn, this beer is well carbonated as you would expect and on tasting this beer i definatley am glad i didnt pay any money for it,quite a watery tasting beer with a little malt and hop finish and has a slightly horrilbe aftertaste that doesnt make you reach for more.

The beer poured with a fairly decent head thought it was mostly gone after a few sips. As typical of your standard Australian lager the colouring was fairly pale and clear.

The aroma wasn't particularly strong, a grassy smell with maybe a hint of hops.

The beer had a crisp clean bitterness initially but the flavour quickly dissipated away to almost nothing. I thought I may have detected a slightly metallic aftertaste but it was so faint that I can't be sure.

In the mouth it feels quite light and is well carbonated.

Overall not a beer I'd drink for the love of beer. Nothing complex about it to stimulate my senses. It goes down the throat easily enough and there was nothing unpleasant about it but it's marketed as a premium beer and it has the price of a premium beer and for that you want something better than not being unpleasant.

Australia's masterfully crafted Hahn Premium in green bottle, poured into mug.
A: Gold, fizzy, head's gone in a second.
S: Actually some hops in there somewhere. Bottle says Hersbrucker.
T: Not bad, like Heineken. A touch of hops.
M: Fizzy, thin. Lawnmower.
D: Sure, chuggable.

Bought this from O'Neills off-license in celebration of Australia Day here in Ireland. It says that it is a 'premium' beer.

Drank this straight out of the bottle so I can't really comment too accurately on the pour, but I don't imagine that I missed much based on the other's reviews.

Golden yellow color like most macro lagers of this type. Not too much of a smell or aroma really.

A bit of bitterness and chemical sweetness too that would expect from a macro lager-but it isn't too off-putting.

Plenty of carbonation, but not really too full. I tried this along with the VB and I actually do prefer this I think-although I don't really know that I would be able to tell them apart too much in a blind taste test to be honest.

I could see how you could drink plenty of these if you wanted to as they go down easy. I think that I will continue to try and find a decent Aussie beer though instead.

look: 2.5 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 4 | overall: 4.5

Appearance - Fairly yellow, like most Australian lagers. Has a small head which vanishes very quickly.

Smell - Quite strong for a lager. Very hoppy.

Taste - A fair bit more tasty and "colourful" than your average lager. The malt is fairly apparent, and the hops stand out quite a lot and taste great.

Mouthfeel - Not very carbonated, but the bitterness level is very good.

Drinkability - There is nothing about this beer that won't put you off a second, third, fourth (well, however many you plan to have really), and it is also interesting enough to keep you coming back for more.

Overall - I do think this beer justifies its "Premium" tag, since it is probably my favourite popular Australian lager. However, it is still fairly expensive, and many people (including myself) would usually buy a slightly more expensive ale instead.

A little darker than average for a lager, you could even call it a bit peachy. 1 finger of head disappeared quickly.

Smell - 3.5
Had to really suck it in to determine any smell at all. No nasty smells to speak of, a little hops, nothing too interesting.

Taste - 3.0
A little more interesting than your average lager. A bit of hoppiness and a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - 3.0
Quite fizzy and reasonably light.

Drinkability - 3.5
This would be easy to drink as a session beer. It's more interesting than many lagers but just as easy to drink.

OVERALL
I would definitely recommend this beer over Crown Lager, as it is generally cheaper and a better beer. More interesting Aussie beers can be bought for a similar price, but I would definitely choose this over most mainstream lagers.

Edit:
I thought I'd re-visit this beer as it was actually a step towards craft beer for me (my previous go to beer was Carlton Cold, *shudders*).

OVERALL
A basic, but above average macro lager. Not a great deal of flavour, but there is still a pleasant herbal hop character and lingering bitterness that lift it above the Tooheys and Carlton crew.

Pale gold, yellow. Nice tight frothy head, no bead. Keeps a thin tight head, leaving some nice lace.
Fresh, grassy hop nose, with a metallic note.
Crisp, vegetal, gingery hop flavour, Grainy aftertaste, mild bitterness, not much overt maltiness evident. Medium bodied mouthfeel, which tends to drain away with little malt body or cloyingness.
A good session beer for a warm day.

Pours a light golden colour... It's so standard-looking it isn't funny. I've reviewed a few more beers that look the same because they're all so standard and lagery. This one, however, loses half a point. Because it's supposed to be a premium beer and it's so nothing special. At least not in appearance.

Nose is not particularly nice, it has to be said. It just smells adjuncty, unpleasantly bitter and...well, sort of dusty. Dusty, you say? Yes, that's the best word up with which I can come. It's not very nice, anyway.

Taste is incredibly average. I remember at one stage this beer was actually quite mouth-bleedingly horrible, but I guess my palatte has matured somewhat since then; the taste isn't disgustoid but my God it's pretty watery. Considering how much kudos this beer has around the plebs of Australian beer-drinking, it's a huge disappointment. I would have expected at least some really unpleasant baked beans-esque aftertaste or something, but there's just nothing to speak of. It's another standard lager. Hooray for Hahn Premium. For being boring.
