Bottle: standard 330mL green bottle with a better-than-average macro label.

Appearance: just about right for a pilsener - light-to-mid golden amber with a steady stream of carbonation and a limited head that settles to a film.

Aroma: a strong smell of bitter grains, with little in the way of hops to counter it.

Taste: a pleasant surprise after the aroma. The bitterness has been replaced by a slightly sweet grain and some floral and grass hops. Quite nice, and certainly refreshing.

Aftertaste: both the floral hops and sweet grains linger quite nicely. This is a good sessional, but could also be had quietly over a good conversation.

Mouth feel: light-to-medium in body with perfect carbonation for the style. Easy drinking - certainly goes down well with food or by itself.

Overall: not a bad beer at all. If you compare it to the standard XXXX, VB and New - which you can since they are all roughly the same price - I think this one takes the cake. Not the greatest beer in the world, but it never sets out to be. A good all-rounder.

A decent Aussie premium, with at least abit of hop and malt character, still, only reserved for suits with a deep pocket who don't like to "taste" their beer.

I haven't been a big fan of this sort of lager, but I've had far better than this. Almost a hint of rice taste. It was a bit stinky at first. I warmed up to it, but was left far from impressed.

This could be Heineken's long lost brother, although I think it should probably stay lost.

It's amazing that a brewer like Chuck Hahn can make some great beers when he wants to, then again when he wants to he can put some utter crap on the market (Hahn Ice).
Hahn Premium sits somewhere in the middle of all his beers. Decent hoppy flavour, Nice clean finish. A semi-decent mass produced lager at best. But for the price of this beer don't even think about buying it, you can get much better quality from his other brands than this.

Well, this one tasted more like a Euro Pale than an American Adjunct. Poured a clear straw colour with an inch of lathery head into a pils glass. As expected, the head did not last more than 30 seconds. Smell was of pale malt, leafy, grassy with a wee bit note of hops. Tasted fairly malty upfront, adjunctless (no graininess in taste) with a metallic finish leading to bitterness (not from hops though). The finish is clean and crisp, making it ideal for hot and sunny days. Other than that, nothing much to write home about.

the label read hersbrucker hops which must be working overtime giving a fresh grassy aroma.
pours super clear with a stable white foam layer.
clean crisp taste and a similair finish. a good refreshing beer.
nice, as good as any other australian premium, maybe better. very enjoyable

Pale yellow with a medium head, standard standard lager appearance. Fairly strong malty smell on opening bottle, slightly metallic as time goes on but no skunkiness. Pleasant smell for a cheap lager, actually.

Flavor is medium bodied, fairly easy to drink, standard lager fare all around. A bit malty, easier to drink than not.

The beer poured with a fairly decent head thought it was mostly gone after a few sips. As typical of your standard Australian lager the colouring was fairly pale and clear.

The aroma wasn't particularly strong, a grassy smell with maybe a hint of hops.

The beer had a crisp clean bitterness initially but the flavour quickly dissipated away to almost nothing. I thought I may have detected a slightly metallic aftertaste but it was so faint that I can't be sure.

In the mouth it feels quite light and is well carbonated.

Overall not a beer I'd drink for the love of beer. Nothing complex about it to stimulate my senses. It goes down the throat easily enough and there was nothing unpleasant about it but it's marketed as a premium beer and it has the price of a premium beer and for that you want something better than not being unpleasant.

A: Pours a pale golden color with a decent head that fades to bits of lacing.

S: Mild aroma of malt, some fruit and grain.

T: Taste of mild malt sweetness, trace of fruit and grain. Mild bitterness and a fairly clean finish.

F: Light body, smooth and a bit refreshing.

O: Not a bad beer for what it is, another Euro Lager in an ocean of lager beers.

What exactly makes this "premium" I will never know. On the upside, it has more hops to it than an american macro-swill, but it smells awful. The taste is ok if its ice cold and you're really thirsty. Otherwise, stay away. There are far better beers in Australia. Go with a Tooheys or a Cascade. Much better brews.

On a positive note, Hahn's commercials are hilarious.

Presentation: A rather unique looking green 375ml (12.7 fl.oz.) bottle, which has a fetching “hour-glass” figure and embossed features. Advertised as 5% ABV, and with a ‘Packaged on Date of 22/10/02” ink-jet printed in dot-matrix format on the glass neck.

Appearance: A pale yellow, totally clear body with a massive frothy foam like head that leaves a strong thick lacing as the air bubbles inside the expanded head collapse revealing a crystalline white sponge on the surface. Looks OK.

Nose: Sweet with some hints of pilsner malts and err, erm, well, erm, that’s it really.

Taste: An immediate, almost sickly, butterscotch affrays the mouth and puts me off, as well as a grimace on my face. Some cloying pilsner-like malt in the middle and a feint hoppiness in the end, which has all the strength of a signal from the far reaches of the known Universe.

Mouthfeel: Below average, just like the beers appeal.

Drinkability: Glad I only bought the single bottle from the broken 6-Pack Shelf.

Overall: Shite. That's probably why they ship the stuff North to a Continent far, far away. Australians probably piss themselves laughing after drinking Imported beer whilst thinking that some stupid Overseas beer geek is drinking theirs. There again, maybe they piss into funky shaped green glass bottles.

Advertised as Australia's Premium Beer – figures!

Pale gold, yellow. Nice tight frothy head, no bead. Keeps a thin tight head, leaving some nice lace.
Fresh, grassy hop nose, with a metallic note.
Crisp, vegetal, gingery hop flavour, Grainy aftertaste, mild bitterness, not much overt maltiness evident. Medium bodied mouthfeel, which tends to drain away with little malt body or cloyingness.
A good session beer for a warm day.

Available at Trader Joe's in case anyone is loking for it. Nice summer beer. Gold color, large head. A light bodied lager. Bright and fresh tasting. Light malts and bright hops. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is malty and slightly bitter. A nice refreshing beer.

Pours a light golden colour... It's so standard-looking it isn't funny. I've reviewed a few more beers that look the same because they're all so standard and lagery. This one, however, loses half a point. Because it's supposed to be a premium beer and it's so nothing special. At least not in appearance.

Nose is not particularly nice, it has to be said. It just smells adjuncty, unpleasantly bitter and...well, sort of dusty. Dusty, you say? Yes, that's the best word up with which I can come. It's not very nice, anyway.

Taste is incredibly average. I remember at one stage this beer was actually quite mouth-bleedingly horrible, but I guess my palatte has matured somewhat since then; the taste isn't disgustoid but my God it's pretty watery. Considering how much kudos this beer has around the plebs of Australian beer-drinking, it's a huge disappointment. I would have expected at least some really unpleasant baked beans-esque aftertaste or something, but there's just nothing to speak of. It's another standard lager. Hooray for Hahn Premium. For being boring.

Hahn Premium. One of the big Australian premiums. Why? I don't know.

A = Golden yellow coloured. Thick white foam head.

S = Grassy/ Hoppy aroma

T = A bit heavy handed in my opinion. There is a heavy grass taste that gets accenuated by the bitterness.

M = A bit overly carbonated. Hurt my tongue a little.

D = A bit expensive for an aussie beer. Better aussie beers out there.
