Cloudy pale lemon in colour with a very transient bright white head.

Hops dominant in the aroma with a zesty citrus spiciness, and perhaps the faintest hint of apricot. Taste finishes dry with a very pleasant malty toastiness reminiscent of their Vienna Lager. A little bit bitterness lingers in the aftertaste. Mouth feel is light to medium - could probably do with a little more body.

This looks like an attempt to clone Coopers Pale Ale, but with a little more interesting hop aroma and flavour characteristics. Quite an easy drinking drop, and a good effort for a macro.

Pours a bright straw color with white fluffy head that fades away to leave a small film that clinks to the glass. Smells slightly of citrusy hops, and it's a little light struck as well. To be expected with a beer in a green bottle I guess. Tastes sour and a little hoppy. It is a thick beer though, the mouthfeel is very heavy. All in all, it's fairly drinkable. The sourness isn't really overpowering, I just wish it finished cleaner.

same green 330ml bottle as the vienna red, but with a green "pale ale" label. brewed by lion nathan. best before 2/07.

pours an extremely cloudy pale yellow with a large frothy sticky white head. sort of wit looking. despite the cloudiness, there is very little sediment in the bottle or floating around the glass.

light refreshing aroma with hints of lemon zest and a bit of grassiness. nice, but a little too subtle.

taste is very flat, bordering on disappointing. little malt presence, maybe a touch of wheat. hop bitterness and flavor seem to be afterthoughts. still, it somehow manages to keep its balance. its like a tightrope walker thats two feet off the ground.

little carbonation leaves this with a pretty smooth, mellow mouthfeel. its just a shame there isnt more flavor to go along with it. could have been a winner.

9 August 2006, Best Before Feb 07

Slightly cloudy yellow-orange colour with a small weak bubbly head. Aroma is weak, with possibly some slight fruitiness. FlavourÂ… next to nothing. Has that classic "filtered" Australian lager taste. Strange since it's supposed to be a cloudy pale ale. Bland. Finishes dry and tasteless. Medium carbonation and light in body.

Having real trouble believing this is an ale. After this and having already tried the Vienna Red (which was a bit better), things aren't looking good for this "Brewers Selection" range of Hahn beers. News.com.au did an article on this beer and it was described by Hahn as a "palate cleanser". Interesting. Also, it's written that this beer is actually based on Hahn premium lager.

From the first pour you are drawn to compare this to Coopers sparkling Ale It is equally cloudy but a lat paler , almostyellow in fact.
The flavours and smell are very understated.
Yeasty citrusy and hoppy and maybe a hint of ginger are all there in reasonable balance but they are just so mild .
It feels really good in the mouth clean way=tery and spot on carbonation.
This is overpriced for what you get , but , is a drinakable alternative and far more distinguished than much of the macro beers normally available
