I had this on-tap in Toronto back in January, which is the source for Foster's brewed in North America. Hey, it allows to use "imported" on the can for the US market! It worked for me at the time. But now, 2,500 miles from the source, and from it's 25.4 oz oil can, I get the opportunity to try it again:
Poured into a stange, it's golden color is attractive along with its well built head that doesn't fizz. Cornish sweet in the smell, but not offensive. However, the taste is. It starts alright, but then a mad rush of sharp metallic bitterness interfered with the beer. If I drank the whole can, you could mine my stomach for metal deposits. Not as refined as other fizzy lagers, this one took some work to consume.
I was at a bar with an Australian when I had my Foster's in Toronto. We ended up polishing two pitchers of it, and I didn't mind it at all. He said the North American version was better than the Australian version. Geez, I can't imagine what the Australian version tastes like after my canned sample.

Big ol' fluffy white head with stickage atop a pale golden brew. Looks like a nice glass of beer. No complaints here.
Grassy pilsner malts with a sprite hop presence. Surprisingly, pretty clean. Well-lagered. A slight musty Euro malt note that fades. Not bad.
Pretty clean again. Slight minty hop character that doesn't pair too badly with musty grassiness, slight mineral qualities, and watery grain. Finished gruff and spiny with adjunct sweetness hidden behind a note of fair booze.
Lots and lots of carbonation present. The body is weak, but it's a quenching drink. Booze presence is a little annoying.
Fosters is okay. I would order one when fresh, if left to macro options only.
