A 500ml can with a BB of Nov 2011. The exterior states that the ABV is 4%, and that this was brewed in Edinburgh by Heineken UK (so much for Australia's amber nectar).
Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. A clear golden-amber colour with considerable carbonation. Yields a frothy head of white foam that disappears after a minute or two. Aroma of light malt with a funk of stewed leaves and a hint of sulfur. Not particularly good.
Tastes of light malt with a faint hint of grain. Mild bitterness and a slight stewed hop flavour in the background. No hoppy aroma to be found. Mouthfeel is crisp and tingly with some astringency. Weak aftertaste of light malt.
Not exemplary; particularly given that this tends to represent 'Australian beer' to most people. Although I have it on authority (from an Ozzie) that it isn't really sold in Australia - so it's just for export. Bland and pretty flavourless, with an unpleasant note to the aroma. If you must drink it, keep it cold....
