According to the can the provenence of the beer is Heineken UK in Edinburgh. 4% alcohol.

500ml can poured into a straight pint glass. Looks pretty good, crystal clear straw coloured liquid with a nice pure white head with decent retention, leaving streaky suds rather than lacing down the side. Medium carbonation.

Smells distinctly unpleasant. Something undefined but faintly medicinal and vegetal, also a sweet graininess.

First impression when tasted is of water, some biscuity maltiness, a little crackery. Some saccharine sweetness and seltzer from the carbonation. There is a metallic note on the back of the throat, something almost chemically bitter. Aftertaste is a sweet and cloying breadiness despite the apparent lightness when first imbibed. Overall really unpleasant.

Fosters in the UK is viewed as just another characterless corporate pale lager, brewed cheaply with no regard to quality. It definitely lives up to the hype. There are many beers I would rate as average that are far superior to this.

look: 3.5 | smell: 2.5 | taste: 2.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 2.5

Appearance - Pours a clear golden straw color with a white, frothy 2-finger head. Decent retention. Resulting lace is spotty.

Smell - Smells of grain and corn.

Taste - Sweet, slightly grainy, with some grassy hop to give it a touch of balance. Simple, if somewhat vegetal finish.

Mouthfeel - Light and watery. Carbonation is decently crisp. Finishes semi-dry.

Overall - Oh Foster's, if that's Australian for Beer, then you guys have got a long way to go. In so far as AAL's go, this one's one of the better ones, but that's not saying much.
