Draft at Gourmet Haus Staudt.
Straw hued, typically cloudy of the style. The head is frothy and long-lasting. Huge banana bread nose with mild spiciness beneath. Has a touch of Alka-Seltzer and clove. Taste is good, bready and heavily phenolic. Moderate banana fruitless that leads into flavors of clove and white pepper. Oddly Alka-Seltzer like in the finish, to the beer's detriment. It's pretty good stuff overall, but not my favorite hefe.

500ml bottle. Weizen glass. Pale deep gold color, foggy appearance. White froth, close crown. Bread, banana & subtle spiced aromas. Pale malty, crispy & bready upfront. Light to medium body. Moderate but lively carbonation. Dense texture & spicy palate. Low bitterness, slight fruity & herbal flavors. Bitter/sweet finish. Refreshing & easy drinkable.

A: The pour is prototypical hefeweizen: golden orange in color with a fluffy white head.
S: Plenty of bread and wheat. Nicely sweet, a little bit of citrus, and some mild spice. Not too much banana, however. There is a bit of toffee, and some butterscotch, which shouldn't really be there.
T: Bread and butterscotch sweetness up front. Orange and orange peel with a little bit of banana. More bread and a fair amount of wheat. A light lemon zest flavor and tartness to it, too.
M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation.
O: Not a terribly good hefeweizen. Butter and tartness shouldn't be there.

Hazy amber brown with a thick and fluffy white head exhibiting sticky lace.
Sweet grain aroma, toasted biscuits, banana and grain. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma, with some biscuit malt upfront; well balanced. Clean bitterness lingering into the finish.Taste is fairly lackluster and too clean resulting in a fairly unimpressive taste. The finish has a slightly sweet melon flavor.
Medium carbonated and creamy while being light bodied. Tongue coating and very quaffable. Overall mouthfeel and drinkability propel this beer to a higher level. A good beer to accompany a meal but not substantial enough on its own.

Half-liter bottle bought at Town and Country Liquor, on to the beer:
This one pours straw blonde. Transparent golden color, some cloudiness in the body. Good fluffy head and retention, which is the highlight of the appearance. The pleasant aroma keeps me interested in tasting this beer, but I'll first note its aroma. Mild banana, nutmeg, phenolic, ground cloves. And to taste...
The texture is minimally bubbled, but the flavor is good. Mmmm, mashed bananas are the dominant flavor. Some cereal notes. Touch of lemon. A snap of faded juicy hops towards the finish. Has a plastic-like texture to it, smooth but lacking a little carbonation.
Overall, this is a solid hefeweizen. Don't seek it out, but go for it if you happen to run into it.

Appearance - Picturesque hefeweizen look, but slightly darker. Very cloudy like it should be.
Smell - Smells a bit off to me. I get all of the typical hefeweizen aromas, but there are additional elements to this one, like some fig/plum/raisin type scents. It's just a bit unexpected since I've been trying a lot of authentic hefe's lately. The website says in german that there are subtle traces of pineapple in here, and after reading that and smelling this beer, I can find it. Its an interesting smell thats for sure, but I think I prefer the more conventional hefeweizen smell.
Taste - Tastes like an authentic German hefe, but with the addition of maybe some pineapple juice? Its familiar and exotic at the same time. The 'core' hefeweizen flavor is good. The twist is not bad as well. Its a good change up I can see myself having once in awhile.
Mouthfeel - Typical hefeweizen.
Drinkability - I'm working on a pint as I am reviewing and I don't think I'd want to have another after this one, but its good.

Appearance: hazy with a deep yellow colour. No floating yeast. The head is white, very large and moussy. Fair retention and little lacing.
Aroma: fruity and citrus nose with some cloves notes.
Taste: sweet malts, wheat and a touch of banana.
Mouthfeel: creamy, average to high carbonation, moderate to low alcoholic strength (5.1% ABV) and medium body.
Finish: sweet wheat aftertaste.
Overall: nice Weissbeer. Adequate banana presence. An honest example of a Hefeweizen, but could use more depth.

A: Pours a hazed golden to yellow liquid into the glass. Typical Hefe-Weißbier look. The head is white and thick at first but dissolves into a thin layer after a few minutes.
S: Wheat bread, red fruits, orange peel and a hint of ripe cherries at the end. I can also find some butter and green vegetables.
T: Rather typical for the style. Wheat bread, flour, oranges, some green vegetables and again the ripe cherries at the end. It has nice sour aftertaste with lots of red fruit.
M: Medium body and medium carbonation.
O: A nice beer for the style. Nothing exceptional but a stable and good beer. Worth trying.

This beer is exported in Russia under brand "Altmuller". Pours cloudy amber beer with excellent white head. Aroma is spicy and banana. So is a taste, fresh & crisp. Carbonation is good. The mouthfeel is mild, clove, probably citruses with traditional hints of lollipops. Very solid example of classic german weizen.

Appearance: Golden, cloudy, typical Hefe appearance. Large head which reduces pretty quickly to a thin layer.
Smell: Wheat, little banana, slightly citrus smell too.
Taste: Fresh, fruity with a very slight bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, standard Hefe mouthfeel.
Overall: Not the best, not the worst Hefe I have ever tasted. Would certainly drink again though. All in all, a pretty standard Hefe.
