Thanks to Dennis for importing beers from Texas to me. Poured from the 12oz bottle into a standard pint glass.
Appearance- Beer pours a ruby brown black with crystal clarity shining warm red hues. A thin finger and a half of pearl cream colored foam rises then falls to a light murk across the top of the grog. Lacing is ample and sticks to the glass thickly.
Smell- Kona coffee and roasted malts are quick to greet the nose, a solid light hopping and a light salty scent like seaweed. This is a pretty damn good smelling porter.
Taste- Lightly vegetal, but doesn't detract from the coffee and porter flavors. Balanced roasted malts and a lighter Kona flavor. Hops are present and not overly bittering. Pleasant and smooth, not overly tongue coating.
Mouthfeel- Lightly bitter, low in carbonation, medium bodied, and creamy.
Drinkability- This is quite the drinkable porter, I would love to have it again and I get to as I've got a six pack of the stuff. I could do this any day.

I am now committed to reducing, if not eradicating, my backlog of bottles. This one was part of a local, in-person trade with tone77.
From the bottle: "Since 1994, Kona Brewing Co. has been committed to making handcrafted ales and lagers of uncompromised quality."; "We invite you to visit our brewery and pubs whenever you visit Hawaii. Mahalo!"; "Fresh, Responsible, Always Aloha"; "A Wave Like No Other Pipeline Porter is full bodied with a rich, smooth, dark roasted malt flavor. A selection of premium hops and 100% Hawaiian Kona Coffee complete this limited brew."; "Liquid Aloha".
I love getting a big, quick pour going, especially with the darker beers since the pseudo-cascade is much more visible. This settled into two fingers of thick, rocky, deep-tan head with good retention. Color was a deep, dark-brown (SRM = 44), allowing zero light penetration. Nose had the deep roastiness of coffee, especially my morning brew, which is not for the faint of heart, along with a dark chocolate bitter-sweetness. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was definitely of coffee and some dark chocolate. Man, if you like coffee, you will like this, but it was pretty intense. Finish was bitter and dry and I began to contemplate when I would drink something like this. It might go well with dessert, especially in lieu of coffee. It just seemed like more of a novelty than an everyday beer to me.
