Bottle generously given to me by my local distributor, and poured into a standard nonic.
A: Pours a straw colored, thin yellow shade, very translucent, with a bone-white head on top, a little less than a fingers worth, which dissipated down to a thin layer around the outer edge of my glass.
S: Muted notes of cotton-candy like barley sweetness.
T: Although it didn't look or smell like much, true to form, the all-barley nature of this beer truly does provide a level depth and a *punch* of flavor that adjunct lager simply cannot match.
Anyone who doubts that there is a difference between barley and corn/rice, should taste this side-by-side.
There is just a touch of hop bitterness on the back end, as well. It gives it just that touch of hop bitterness that helps balance it out and makes this thing just a little bit interesting.
M: Thick and hefty, with a reasonable amount of malt sugars left behind on the tongue. The finish is a shade too sweet. Carbonation, though visible, feels a touch too low for my liking.
D/O: Not a "bad" beer, but just not a lot of character. Bland. And a bit too sweet.
