Notes/Commercial Description:
Longboard Island Lager is a smooth refreshing lager fermented and aged for five weeks at cold temperatures to yield its exceptionally smooth flavor. A delicate, slightly spicy hop aroma complements the malty body of this beer.

Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass.

A - Crystal clear pale yellow (ok, not to be vulgar but it's the color of piss) with a three finger head of perfectly white bubbles. Minimal to know lacing.

S - Very faint whiff of clean lager yeast and graininess.

T - Wow. Extremely mild. Grainy lager yeast flavor dominates, with a hint of spicy hop and a tiny bit of sweet malt, but its all WAY in the background. Finishes extremely clean. Decent balance between mild-sweet and mild-bitter if that makes any sense.

M - Thin and watery. Medium carbonation.

O - This is basically a BMC beer without the adjuncts. You can indeed taste that they used real malts here, but overall this beer is way to meek and mild for my tastes. Like drinking beer flavored water, I'm afraid.

The lager was poured into a pint glass. It was a pale straw color with a 1/2 inch white head that disappears quickly and leaves little evidence behind. The aroma was a sweet bubble gum type candy store scent. It smelled like it was artificially sweetened. The wheat flavor was moderately present in the initial with hints of apple skin and a big injection of carbonation. As the beer taste faded into aftertaste, the sweet bubblegum flavor returned. The taste did not last long because the carbonation quickly swept it away.

Despite the exotic name on the bottle, this lager tastes like an overproduced macrobrew. It lacked a strong beer taste and had a strange sweetness to it. I need not have this one again.
