Cusquena is a straw- colored lager with a very slight amount of foam that falls apart rather quickly but still holds it own long enough to maintain a thin coating on top of the beer. The nose on this beer is one of sweet malt/corn with a touch of honey.

Tasting this beer didn't yield any surprises. It offers a flavor that is sweet overall, with tastes that include bread, light pale malt, and slightly herbal hops in the finish. This beer goes down smooth, with little or no bite. It leaves a fairly pleasant aftertaste of toasted bread and has a crisp finish.

Cusquena is brewed using an all- malt recipe and it is one of only a few Latin American brews to adhere to the German Purity Law. It leans toward the sweet side of the spectrum, but it is not devoid of hops. There is a certain herbal quality to the hops and this factor alone makes it tastier and more distinct than the average American macrobrew. It's the type of lager that will satisfy most lager loyalists while also intriguing the ale faithful among us with its purity and complexity. It's no classic, but it easily beats the taste of most American macrobrews.

This is actually a pure malt beer, not an adjunct Lager.
Golden color with a thin head with short retention.
Light aroma of sweet pale malt and some herbal hops.
Likewise, flavor of sweet malt, minerals and herbal hops. Not much more in here, but also no off-flavors. Mildly dry and bitter aftertaste.
Light bordering watery body with good carbonation.
Very clean and mild taste, good session summer beer.

Let me just say right off that I did not enjoy this beer at all. A one mm head and orange amber color. Smells a little malty and not much else. No mouthfeel at all. Tastes like water with a little carbonation. No body, substance or mouthfeel at all. The only thing I like was the bottle which has the Machu Picchu granite blocks on the bottle.
