Big thanks to Ryan for the bottle.
Bottled with love on 09 17 2010
Pours a clear amber body with a large white head.
Esters are rampant on the nose. Apple, pear, banana and just a touch of spice.
More of the same. Fruity and slightly sweet notes of apple, pear, banana, rum raisin, butterscotch. An odd Saison. Not sour, bitter, hoppy, musty, floral or tart. Very little spice character.
Saison is a broad style category, but even still, I'm not sure this beer fits. The character of the phenols and esters lean more in the Dunkelweizen direction. But, in the end, who cares? Its a nice beer, I enjoyed it and would enjoy another if I had more than one bottle.
Glad I got to try it before it was discontinued.

wo inch layer of white foam then came up over the top, settled down to a broken crown and coated the inside of the glass with decent lacing.
The aroma was rather odd, sweet at first but as I really let it explore there were some light fruity notes, maybe peach and pineapple with a biscuit like note, very odd, but also very good. The flavor was more of the same, rich notes of caramel whirled over the tongue and separated into a light and fruity Belgian yeast and a grapefruit and pineapple like floral hoppiness. Strange, but awesome I have to admit. Really quite complex. The flavor took a turn toward the bitter and dried out the palate appropriately, creating a nice dry, and inviting session for the next sip.

Poured from 12oz bottle.
A- Pours a semi hazy golden orange color. Two finger white head that shows medium retention. not a lot of lacing sticks to the sides of the glass making it more spotty than anything else.
S- Lots of juicy fruits in the front of this beer (orange, pear, lemons, apples, and apricots). Yeast notes with slight funk come out next and compliment the fruits. Some light spicing with a almost toasted like base malt. Makes my mouth water to smell this one.
T- Light citrus hops in the front jump around with hints of sweet fruits that I picked up in the aroma. Light funky middle with the toasted malt and spicy yeast coming out. Ending of this is light alcohol flavors that come through with some spicy pepper notes, grassy hops, and a honey like sweetness.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the style. Sweet fruits with light pepper notes and grassy hops left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly sweet alcohol, grassy hops, and honey like flavor. Flavors were well put together for the style. No off flavors at all which I enjoyed. Medium drying on the palate from the alcohol.
D- This saison is very drinkable. The ABV is not to high which lets it be a sipper all night. A well put together beer that will make it into my fridge all the time if given the chance.
