I enjoy these hop trial beers that Schlafly does. You can only get them at the Bottleworks or Tap Room locations, but they are a really cool way to try some new unheard of hop varieties and to taste them without anything else getting in the way.
With that said, this one was pretty good. It was on the lighter side for it's ABV rating. Had some nice fruity notes, of apricot and peaches. With a little honey and possibly vanilla for a hint of sweetness. The sweetness was nicely restrained though and countered by notes of wood and almond. A very interesting beer that I think could have real promise as a new line up brew.
My only complaint was that it felt like it was still needing completion. It felt like it was perhaps at eight tenths of the final product. It felt like it needed just a little something more to really round out the rest of the flavors and make it complete. I think with just the right amount of tweaking, this could be something special.
Would Drink Again: Yes
