Enjoyed on-tap @ The Schlafly Tap Room in St. Louis, MO for $4.25. Tapped from a Non-Labeled Stainless Steel Tap Handle into an Imperial Pint Glass.
Aroma- This aroma starts out with a medium amount of smoke and a nice amount of malt in the background. Seems like oak is also around be everything very mild.
Appearance- Received with a 1 finger head that dies fairly quickly. Has a dark brown colored body without any clarity available. Leaves dark, sudsy lacing behind.
Flavor- Smoked chilis and tons of spice make up the taste from the beginning to the end. Has a medium amount of hops included too. Medium Bitterness.
Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied, Medium Carbonation, Spicy, and finishes with tons of malt on the palate.
Overall Impression- Nicely done! Good amount of smoke attribute with also a highly noticeable hop character. Would definitely recommend enjoying this one also. They should start bottling some of these fantastic brews that are only offered on-tap!

Had on tap at Schlafly Tap House.
Beer pours a very dark brown color. Hardly any head.
The beer smells very smokey. The smoked, malty smell is very strong. Very pleasant.
The beer's smoke taste on the initial sip is very strong, almost overpowering. From there, the smoke taste goes away behind the sweet malt. While pretty good, the smoke feels forced in the taste.
Mouthfeel was similar to other Schlafly beers and was a bit thin, but overall pretty good.
Not as balanced as some smoke beers, but some very good smoke flavor for a very drinkable porter.

Had on tap at The Schlafly Tap Room 2/12
Served in a pint glass.
A: This beer pours a deep, dark, opaque black with a 1/4 inch of light brown head. Head recedes quickly leaving spots of lacing.
S: Nose is somewhat muted - sweet caramel malts with minor smoked notes.
T: Taste is nice. There is this fantastic back and forth of what will dominate - caramel malt and nuttiness, or smoked flavoring. It comes together in a sweet, smokey flavor. This isn't a typical smoked beer where you feel like you're at a campfire.
M: Lighter side of medium body, medium carbonation, nice and crisp with an oily finish.
D: Goes down easily, very tasty, not filling, mild kick, and a very nice representation of style. The smokiness in this beer really adds to the flavor rather than dominate as some smoked beers do. This is one that I would (and did) drink all night.

An overall excellent beer. Had it on tap at the taproom in St Louis.
Poured black, clear, one finger head and moderate lacing.
Smoky, roasted aroma with malt, chocolate and coffee.
Tasted nutty, roasted malts, chocolate, and nutty. Delicious to the point where I had two of them in one session.
The moderate ABV made it quite sessionable. Listed as 5% on the menu.
Felt medium to full bodied and smooth, very good going down, mild aftertaste of light bitter roasted malts.
Highly drinkable, a delicious blend this year that I would recommend and several locals seemed to think it was especially good this time around too.

Sample at the brewpub. This homage to the Alaskan benchmark pours a mostly clear dark brown color with some ruby around the edges. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. The aroma is smoky with touches of roasted malt and chocolate. Medium body with a smoked character that never becomes overbearing, as seems to be an issue with some beers of the style. Flavors of malt, chocolate and nuts are present. The finish is smoky with roasted malt lingering. Pretty good overall.
