Deep golden hue, thin tan head, minimal lacing. A big hoppy aroma, some grassy notes as well. Up front, to no surprise is a hop-based body, followed by some fresh malty overtones. Crisp, clean and refreshing, no major characteristics here, but a decent altbier.

I had this beer fresh on tap at the Tap Room this weekend. It poured a dark amber to brown and slightly cloudy with an off white head. Slight malt aroma with a nice citrus back. The citrus was mild grapefruit rind. The flavor had mild caramel sweetness, with a good balance of bitterness. Slick mouth feel. Good drinakbility. Nicely balanced but not as DRY and BITTER as some people will want it ;-)

Nice clear light mahogany red. Thick 1/3" very fine head settles to a thin but persistent cap. Leaves a bit of lacing down the traditional Alt glass.

Nose is bready malt with a healthy dose of Munich. Bit of leafy hop, and a touch of chocolate. Very nice, and very Alt.

Medium weight in the mouth with plenty of solid maltiness. Nicely balanced with a pleasant hop bitterness, and a bit of leafy hop flavor. Slight palate-rounding sweetness. Touch chalky on the finish which helps accentuate the crisp bitter finish.

Good soft mouthfeel. Perilously drinkable and an excellent companion to lunch. Nice solid Alt.

Pours a clear, dark amber color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight hop, hint of spice, slight dry hop, and slight grain. Fits the style of an Altbier. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes slight roasted malt, sweet malt, slight dry hop, slight spice, and a hint of grain. Overall, great appearance, good aroma, and body.

This Alt has a medium body and is a fairly dark brew looking somewhat bronze cast with a nice tan head. The lacing is good and last through the glass. The flavor has some nice roasted overtones and carries a bit of hop bite to bitter the malt base. The nose is mostly malty and the feel a bit watery. Not one of the best Schlafly, neither is it not drinkable. There are simply better choices from this brewer.

After this last Alt, I'm on a mission to find more of them. I've really been pleased with them, and this one seals the deal. Poured a clear mahogany brown with a tan cap - no problem laying a lace ring around the glass.

Roasted malt and a bit of biscuit in the aroma. And it's there for the taste too, along with caramel and a touch of nut. The cold fermentation really smooths the finish out, as it remains on the sweet side from start to end. Only 5.3% abv, this could easily move into session drinking, either in warm or cold weather.
