Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: maxpower on 09-16-2006

Our Pumpkin Ale blends the spices of the harvest with full-bodied sweetness for a beer that tastes like pumpkin pie. Pounds of pumpkin form a malty foundation that supports the fall flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove.

While pumpkin beers were produced in the early days of the American colonies, they were different from the pumpkin beers we know today. Colonists used pumpkin and squash as the fermenting medium, since malted barley was scarce. Once malt became more readily available, it replaced these alternatives to grain. In the 1990’s, American craft brewers reintroduced the style to the delight of pumpkin beer drinkers.

Pours tan/ light orange into glass with a medium head. Instant smell of pumpkin pie and malt as you pour. The taste of the beer is strong with pumpkin, crust, malt with a medium thickness to it. Compared to other pumpkin beers I've bought this really is a step above them. Would love to buy this again. The perfect beer for fall.

Pours a clear orange/red color with a tan one finger head.

Smell is full of spice. Cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spice. Some wheat in the background.

Very flavorful. Pumpkin spice and pumpkin at first sip. Towards the middle the wheat and grain flavors begin to settle on your tongue. The finish is all spice.

Mouthfeel is nice. A bit creamy with good carbonation. Spice tickles the tongue a bit.

Overall this is a good beer. Glad I got the chance to try it. Pick it up if you can.

Pours a chill hazed deep copper with a frothy cream head that dissipates slowly, leaving light lacing.

Pumpkin, cinnamon, and clove begin the aroma, which is actually somewhat subtle. There's a bit of bready malt present.

Flavor reveals sweet, floral notes, with pumpkin riding a wave of toasted caramel malt, accompanied by hints of graham cracker and cinnamon. Clove, allspice, and a touch of ginger add complexity. That underlying toasted, nutty/nutmeg, bready note wins it, though.

Body is fairly full, with light carbonation and alcohol warmth.

There's a bit of cola flavor that I'm not a fan of, but how they get that great graham cracker note in there, I'll never know. Reminiscent of pumking. Definitely a go-to seasonal.
