A - Pours a dark copper color with a thin head that fades quickly. Not quite translucent as there is a subtle haze.

S - Sweeter than I remember. Banana notes are very strong. Slight bready backbone.

T - Also very sweet. Banana flavors are mixed with some candied sugar. Not the contrast of flavors I would expect.

M - Light and crisp.

O - A good, but not great beer. Would be good in early spring as the weather begins to turn warm.

Haven't had this beer since last summer in a bottle. Enjoyed this beer on-tap at Schneithort's in St. Louis, MO. They have No. 15 on tap and have a special agreement with Schlafly Brewery to call it "Schneity Brau"- their house beer. Served into an Anheuser Busch Pint Glass and enjoyed over popcorn and a St. Louis Blues game.

Appearance- Dark orange in color and cloudy. Half a finger of head and left lace.

Smell- I smelled tons of spices and autumn.

Taste- Very great taste! Spicy, yet has a mild fruit on the way through.

Mouthfeel- Good carbonation, Light Bodied, and smooth. A pumpkin pie finished and left the best of tastes in my mouth.

Drinkability- Not all that bad but only can drink one. This reminded me of the Schlafly Pumpkin ale except with more wheat added in and less ABV%. Wondering why it says this beer isn't being brewed anymore while I enjoyed it last night (3/7/11).

A- 4 An aggressive pour led to a 1/2" bubbly head that dissipated quickly; would've liked to see more retention. Fairly light lacing. The best aspect of the beer's appearance is definitely its color for me. It's a beautiful amber that can barely be seen through.

S- 3.5 The smell is mildly wheaty and of spices. Maybe a little banana. It smells decent, but I can't smell enough of it...

T- 4 I found the flavor of this beer quite tasty. Mild spices such as clove and nutmeg, and a sweetness (banana and a hint of bubble gum) that round it out well.

M- 4 Medium-light body that goes down clean and smooth. Not heavy at all considering its (cohesively) rich flavor. Carbonation is good despite the poor head retention.

D- 4 I could enjoy this dark wheat beer for hours. It's very well-balanced. It's tasty and smooth and light enough to drink easily. This is a solid brew I'd recommend trying if you're looking for a twist on wheat or just a flavorful, easy-to-drink option in general.

Poured from bottle with "bottled on" date of 10/28/2010.

Appearance: I think I had some glassware issues as the head was slight and dissipated quickly, though that is counter to most other reviews. Dark honey color and very cloudy. The unfiltered bits appear to be in suspension, it looks like a very thick beer.

Smell: Banana, lemon, and a bit of bubblegum. Strong smell.

Taste: Wheaty with banana and bubblegum notes. The citrus is present, but takes a back seat compared to other wheats, with a bit more of a hops finish instead.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Very clean finish. Just a tad watery at times.

Drinkability: Very, very pleasing and drinkable. While the American Dark Wheat Ale style description on BA states there should be no banana esters, you could definitely smell and taste them with this brew. A very pleasing wheat ale that has just enough going on to intrigue.
