bottle from september 2009. so a little past its prime. a friend gave it to us.
a golden with a thin white head that dissipates fast. hazy
s vanilla, malt a little citrus.
t malt forward, all the hops are gone. the malt is present through out. the ending has a lemon zest and a bitter aftertaste
m thin and crisp, slightly prickly with a light small bubbled carbonation.
o a good session beer for me. nothing that i would actively seek out but i would definitely have it again.
would like to try it fresh

Served in a Shaker pint at Beer Run (Charlottesville, VA).
A: Crisp amber-orange with 1-finger of oatmeal colored foamy head with decent retention and some thin lace.
S: Aroma is slightly dank hoppy with some fresher pine and orange citrus aromas. The malt bill lends some residual caramel sweetness.
T: Very clean flavor with a good balance of light caramel sweetness, bready maltiness, and orange-grapefruit citrus and piney hops. The hops are central but the maltiness provides a solid backdrop.
M: A little to light for my taste for the APA style but not terrible, dry towards too dry. Carbonation is also a little heavy-handed.
O: I liked this beer but a little work to provide a little more body and lighter carbonation to give a creamier feel would be welcome.

A - Pours an amber orange with a hefty eggshell head that last awhile.
S - Citrusy and herbal, bready malt, sharp grain notes, sweet pale malt. average lacing.
T - Follows the nose with heavy citrus and bread, stingy bitterness, grainy pale malt, herbal crunch, lightly toasty, the citrus turns less heavy and more bright. Pine resin comes through with a long finish bitter finish. Finishes slick with a false dryness.
M - Moderate prickly carbonation, medium body.
Nice flavors with an aggressive bite for an APA. My first from Shlafly and it won't be my last.
