Our Raspberry Hefeweizen is a true fruit beer, not a fruit-flavored beer. We add pureed raspberries to our Hefeweizen during the primary fermentation process. Although we add no sugar, color or flavors, the resulting beer is a hazy pink color, with citrus aromas from the wheat and a flavor that is neat and tart. While this beer is low in bitterness, it is not overwhelmingly sweet, making it a thoroughly drinkable beer for the season.
In Belgium, fruit beers are quite popular and brewers often include wheat, along with malted barley. While our Raspberry Hefeweizen is not a true Belgian fruit beer, we have carried on the tradition of adding real fruit to fermenting beer. Today, many beers with fruit character are made with a fruit extract; we prefer to use the actual fruit to avoid any chemical or artificially sweet undertones in the beer.

Pour has a mostly clear rose gold body under a slightly raspberry tinged head of foam. Scent is a bit closer to a sour than a hef, but most of the sour seems to be from the raspberry added in. Taste is a bit closer to a hef with slight notes of banana evident but mostly subtle raspberry winning out. Feel is light with a quick finish and moderate carbonation. A bit of an odd duck as it is not quite a hef and not quite a sour but still enjoyable enough with a lighter 4.1% ABV.

I found this super mid, the raspberry flavor is barely there, I already find that an odd fruit to pick for a hefeweizen, but then this is also hardly reminiscent of a hefeweizen. I wouldn't get this again.

The Saint Louis Brewery, LLC "Raspberry Hefeweizen"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED ON: 03/04/2022" and sampled on 09/04/2022
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is brewed with real raspberries. It has a hazy kind of peach colored body beneath a finger's width of white foam that unfortunately falls away rather quickly. The aroma is mildly malty and lightly fruity but not super clear that it's raspberry. That's OK, I don't necessarily need a big raspberry aroma, and I think I prefer it that way to having an articial aroma. I'm not finding any Bavarian yeast character though, which is weird. On to the taste, the malt is sweetish and wheaty, and the raspberry is present and clear but not strong. There's a nice balance between those two but I have a feeling that it'll leave most people looking for more raspberry. Once again, I'm not finding any Bavarian weizen yeast character at all. That's kind of disappointing. In my opinion this is a raspberry wheat beer, and not a raspberry hefeweizen. Does that make sense? There's a touch of bitterness to it, probably around 12 IBUs, just enough, and it finishes mainly dry as it's both delicately acidic and pretty well fermented out to begin with. How strong is this? Just 4.1%, yeah that makes sense. It's a nice, light, easy drinking fruity wheat. I don't think it could handle more raspberry flavor at this strength, it just wouldn't balance properly. You'd have to take it up a bit. In the mouth it's light-medium in body, and gently crisp. The head retention wasn't very good at all, and there was hardly any lacing, even at the outset. Disappointing. I think I've been pretty clear already that this isn't a "hefeweizen", but beyond that it's OK as an easy drinking beer that you don't really pay much attention to and just throw back.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle ($8.72 USD plus tax per sixer at a beer store in Bartlesville, Oklahoma):
4.1% ABV.
Comparable in quality to many mass produced fruit beers (think Boston Beer Co., New Belgium, or even Leinenkugel) but a bit more authentic fruit flavour wise...this doesn't evoke canned fruit puree or artificial fruit extract like many fruited ales. Not much of a hefeweizen though, lacking any recognizable esters or phenols from German yeast.
All in all I'd contend it's above average, but I do find it a biteen too sweet for a 4.1% ABV brew, which makes it less drinkable than would be ideal.

12 ounce bottle poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
L---Hazy pinkish, light amber color. Pinkish/white head that faded quickly to a ring and left ok lacing.
S---Wheat & raspberry as advertised.
T---Not sweet or tart. Wheat & raspberry again.
F---Light. Well carbonated.
O---They make a point of saying that it is not overly sweet, but it'd be better if it was.

Rasberries are light but flavorful and the Hefeweizen behind it is on the lighter not as sweet side as well. The end product is more of a nicely made Rasberry American wheat ale more than a hef but that is fine. It’s very pleasant in the summer as I’m drinking it now.
