Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Tripel features malt and yeast that set the fresh aroma of baked brioche against the sweet scent of ripened banana. This relatively light-bodied ale is fermented with a distinct Belgian abbey ale strain, then bottle conditioned with extra sugar and yeast for at least two weeks. Bottle conditioning creates the effervescent mouth feel, as well as the distinct Belgian lace prized in Belgian beers.

While the origin of the word “Tripel” is unknown, there is a theory that it indicates “strength in some way”, as Tripels tend to be high in alcohol and strong in flavor. The term is most associated with Westmalle, a Trappist brewery in Belgium. This term has spread to other Belgian and American breweries to describe a light-colored, strong ale with high alcohol content and Belgian yeast.

A - Pours a light yellow color with a mid sized white head.

S - Fruit flavors seem to dominate the nose along with a little touch of alcohol.

T - Similar to the nose in that fruit flavors seem to be predominant. Passion fruit and banana is what stands out. There is also a small bit of spice which plays well off the alcohol.

M - Carbonation was medium and it had a semi-thin body.

O - This is a good beer from a good brewery. The entire bottle went down much easier than expected.

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a Brewer's Art goblet. Moderate hand. Label reads, Brewed with love 1 2313.

A: Inviting, cloudy golden yellow-orange body. 2 fingers of thick, off-white head with good retention. Moderate lacing.

S: Fruity Belgian yeast with a round, vanilla character. Banana, apple. Candi sugar. Light spice. Biscuit. Dough. A bit earthier and maltier than your typical tripel, but nice.

T: Surprisingly tangy spice up front with development of a moderate hop bitterness. Semi-dry finish with a bit of a sour note lingering on the aftertaste. Boozy, but not excessive for 10% ABV.

M: Lighter on the carbonation than the average tripel, but brings a nice creamy texture. Fullish body for the style.

O: Very nice take on the style with a unique flair. Schlafly's Belgian yeast is legit. Solid outing.

Prost!

Light copper colored with excellent clarity. Easily an inch and a half of densely packed off white head. Scents of pear and light Belgian candy sugar. The mouth is highly carbonated and very dry. There's somewhat of a very earthy, bread like almost sourdough bread flavor. There's a bit of an olive oil aftertaste on the fade.
