The first thing you notice upon pouring this beer is just how dark it is. Almost black, there is no transparency through the glass. The head is dense and rocky that was about 2" thick. It took a while for it to dissipate to finger-width, and then lingered to a thin lace. Not much smell, but what is there is nice and faint. It doesn't smack you in the face like many other brews. The taste left me a little dissapointed. At first, there is a nice oatmeal sweetness, but once that fades there is a very strong taste of unsweetened coffee - which I don't like. The mouthfeel is on the thin side, but it has a nice coating. Drinkability is high if you like the taste of coffee, but if you don't it is very hard to drink just one. I made that mistake.
I'm sure there are much better stouts out there.

Enjoyed at the St. Louis airport, the beer was on par with most oatmeal stouts. Nice body in the glass with the usual full aroma. The beer held up well in the mouth and had some depth and body to it. Nothing special in the taste that makes it stand out against other stouts though.

Pours a dark brown color with a short dense khaki head that settles into a light ring.
The aroma is a tad grainy with a subtle roast note. Perhaps some light chocolate notes. The aroma is quite subdued.
The taste is of a smooth roasted malt. Nice milk chocolate notes. Much better than the aroma. Slight hints of char. Light ground coffee notes come through towards the end. A bit of a raisin sweetness plus some caramel.
The feel is moderate with prickly carbonation. Not as smooth as some other oatmeal stouts. Nice balance between sweet and roasted bitterness.
A good but not great oatmeal stout. Nice flavor but misses a tad on the feel and aroma.
