I poured a 12 ounce bottle into an ale glass.
Appearance: Completely opaque, black color with a creamy-tan thick head that lasts for 3-4 minutes.
Aroma: Overwhelming smell of bacon and brined meats with a subtler aroma of smokiness and a hint of coffee and anise
Flavor: Rich malt and cured meat flavors that remind me of chewing a piece of prosciutto. Coffee and a refreshing, cleansing hoppiness lingers for 45-60 seconds.
Mouthfeel: Definitely full-bodied but lighter than expected based on the appearance
Overall: A very enjoyable stout that is typical of its style. I have a fondness for the Schlafly brand in general, but will want to redrink this beer the next time I make it to St. Louis.
