Poured into a snifter.
A: It looks like a stout. Not much more. Opaque black body wit brown around the rims, a tan head that dissipates quickly leaving little lacing and all with no signs of life in the body. Cool.
S: A very beautiful and well-balanced aroma is slightly let down by how faint it is. Chocolatey malts bring a hint of coffee and roasted nuts with them and is offset by dried fruits, most notably raisins.
T: The dried fruits really dominate the taste. Raisins and dark cherries are ever present, with roasted malts becoming more of a back note here. It's not as well balanced as the aroma, but it's at least more powerful.
M: A slightly carbonated medium-bodied stout is creamy enough. It leaves a dry feeling as it lingers. Appropriate without being transcendent.
O: This is a decent oatmeal stout that doesn't really play up any oatmeal characteristics. It's a little creamier and more substantial, thankfully, but I don't get it anywhere else. Still, a fine and pleasant stout for any occasion.

Enjoyed at the St. Louis airport, the beer was on par with most oatmeal stouts. Nice body in the glass with the usual full aroma. The beer held up well in the mouth and had some depth and body to it. Nothing special in the taste that makes it stand out against other stouts though.

Pours a dark brown color with a short dense khaki head that settles into a light ring.
The aroma is a tad grainy with a subtle roast note. Perhaps some light chocolate notes. The aroma is quite subdued.
The taste is of a smooth roasted malt. Nice milk chocolate notes. Much better than the aroma. Slight hints of char. Light ground coffee notes come through towards the end. A bit of a raisin sweetness plus some caramel.
The feel is moderate with prickly carbonation. Not as smooth as some other oatmeal stouts. Nice balance between sweet and roasted bitterness.
A good but not great oatmeal stout. Nice flavor but misses a tad on the feel and aroma.
