Aggressive pour yields a brilliant medium copper color with a pillowy 2 inch cream head that dissipates slowly, leaving sticky, spotty lacing.
Resin, pine, and grapefruit leap from the glass. Fresh cut grass and onion accompany bready caramel malt. Earthy and floral hop notes emerge late.
Caramel sweetness forms the backbone of the flavor profile, fairly bready and toasty, even into the finish. Underpinnings of resin, grass, catty hops, and slightly muted grapefruit are evident throughout. Resiny bitterness closes out the flavor. The balance is decidedly bitter. Onion, a hint of mint, and pine surface in the aftertaste.
Body is moderate to a tad full, with moderate carbonation and a bit of alcohol warmth.
Great toasted caramel malt presence to support the hop character. Hop flavor isn't quite as prevalent our complex as aroma. The dominant character ends up being resiny bitterness, but there's enough malt sweetness to prevent it from being offensive.

Received as an extra in a trade and poured into my Duvel tulip. Bottle date of 1/25/14
A - Pours a nice crystal clear copper hue with a good one finger white head that fades to a nice thin blanket. Not any side lacing.
S - Aromas of nice grapefruit and pine. Light mango, flashes of kiwi (which is neat). Very mild malts.
T - Taste is similar to the nose though far more restrained. The tropical notes are there just much subdued. Faint mango/pineapple, pine and grapefruit bitterness. Malty sweetness balances it out, lends to an almost melon thing going on. Not too bitter on the finish.
M - Mouthfeel is very, very nicely carbonated, incredibly incredibly drinkable. Great.
O - Overall, a very solid IPA. Glad I got to try it fresh and enjoy what the brewers were going for.
