We at Schlafly Beer, Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Company and Culinaria, a Schnucks Market, are proud to share with you our latest collaborative effort: Oatmeal Stout brewed with raspberry puree and cold-toddy Colombia Monserrate Coffee. Since 2008, Kaldi’s has worked directly with a small community of fifty-nine producers in the Huila region of Colombia. This unique coffee comes from this collaboration of farmers, who are as proud to bring you this coffee as we are to bring you this beer.

Was really excited to try this one, but in the end was disappointed. Started out great with a huge 2-3 finger head. Very dark, basically black. On the nose I smelled a nice roasted/dark malt with a raspberry background. After the smelling, it went down hill from there. The biggest disappointment is that I never tasted any of the coffee flavors in this beer. The raspberry is definitely there, but as the beer warmed up, a pleasant raspberry taste actually turned tart to sour.

Appearance - The beer was a murky brown color with a slight mocha head clinging to the sides of the glass.

Smell - The aroma was a borderline orgasmic level of raspberry. Coffee notes lay in the background, but the raspberry is dominant.

Taste - The disappointment starts on the initial taste. I feel like I have just taken a gulp of raspberry scented 80's hairspray. Dry malts, Sanka, and artificial raspberry notes are present. There is a strange artificial aftertaste that I just do not like.

Mouthfeel - This is a stout and largely resembles the style. The viscosity is thick and coats.

Overall - I had trouble finishing the glass. I could not finish the bottle.
