Our Belgian-Style Golden Ale opens with a fruity nose and rounded sweetness that compose a pale and balanced beer. Hallertau hops lend a hint of spice that balances the aroma and flavor of orchard fruit. Similar to our Belgian Tripel, but with a lighter body and a crisper finish, it is the perfect introduction to the family of Belgian beers renowned for their complexity and delicacy.

Beers from this region reflected the diversity of Belgium itself, a nation that has three official languages (Dutch, French, and German). Bordering Germany and France, Belgian ales incorporate the complex flavors of French wine into the German brewing heritage. In Post World War II Europe, Belgian brewers developed golden strong ales to compete with the rising popularity of lighter Pilsner style beers.

Sampled two days ago on 12/5/15. Comes in a 12 ounce bottle from the Saint Louis Brewery, LLC in St. Louis, Missouri. Bottled dated: 03/03/2015. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a vintage 10-ounce "Bud" handled-glass stein.

Brew pours a hazy golden yellow in color with a good 1+-finger foamy white head. A decent amount of lacing is seen that sticks to the sides of the glass when sipped. Aroma is of sweet grains with a light hint of floral hops also. Taste is different from the smell actually with some sweet light fruit is up front with some hops. Slight bitter finish but decent overall.Lighter-side of medium-bodied with good carbonation. Overall it was decent, though not a big fan of this style of brew.

Light transparent golden color with bright white head. Not much on the smell. Faint cooked plantains. Light Pale ale Taste With Hints Of Belgian Banana Yeast Flavor, Some Hops But not too strong, lightly peppery, mostly smooth. Would be a good intro into Belgian styles.

Poured into pint glass. Bottled on 03/10/2015.

A - Pours an opaque, golden color with a white fluffy, 1 and 1/2 finger head. Great head retention with lacing.

S - An interesting blend of aromas with nothing in particular that really stands out to me. Overall a fairly herbal scent with hints of fruits; malts more present than hops - sweeter overall scent. Wish had a little more distinction in scents.

T - Thankfully unlike the aromas, the flavorings were much more distinctive. Fairly plain and malty at first than you're hit with a blend of various flavors. The most distinctive flavor I can pick up on is that of pear and apple, giving the beer a more bitter yet still sweet taste. It finishes up with a very sweet, sugary taste that lingers in the mouth for a while. Overall quite interesting yet quite enjoyable.

M - Medium bodied beer with average carbonation. Very smooth and enjoyable feeling beer. No harsh aftertastes; just a mild lingering sweetness.

O - A fairly unique beer out of the ones I've had thus far. Enjoyable and very drinkable; I particularly like the sugary sweet aftertaste. Personally I don't think pear and or apple is my favorite flavoring in beer.

Enjoyed from the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This Belgian style golden pours a very light golden color with a moderate white head of foam that dissipates to a thin ring and pooling layer of foam with excellent lacing. Nose of spicy yeast, sweet light bread, light banana, candy sugar, and light hops. Flavors follow the nose with sweet Belgian candy sugar notes on all sides, light citrus and banana notes to the rear, and a light spicy yeast note mingling with subtle bittering hops. Substantial and refreshing with moderate carbonation keeps the mouth feel lively with a moderately sweet and lightly bitter finish. An excellent brew made right here in the USA from a great brewery.

Cheers
