Belgian Pale Ale |  7.00% ABV

Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Belgian-Style Golden Ale opens with a fruity nose and rounded sweetness that compose a pale and balanced beer. Hallertau hops lend a hint of spice that balances the aroma and flavor of orchard fruit. Similar to our Belgian Tripel, but with a lighter body and a crisper finish, it is the perfect introduction to the family of Belgian beers renowned for their complexity and delicacy.

Beers from this region reflected the diversity of Belgium itself, a nation that has three official languages (Dutch, French, and German). Bordering Germany and France, Belgian ales incorporate the complex flavors of French wine into the German brewing heritage. In Post World War II Europe, Belgian brewers developed golden strong ales to compete with the rising popularity of lighter Pilsner style beers.

A: Nice golden straw color. Moderate lacing. Poured approximately half a finger of suds.

S: A very short but immediate presence of silver that dissipates to ripe fruit aromas. Peach stones come to mind. Slightly floral.

T: Full flavor, rich and smooth. The alcohol on this does not come across as a 7%. Melds well with the full flavors of stonefruit and Belgian yeast.

M: Medium body. Coats the palate well though with a nice finish.

O: Nice job Schlafly. I would certainly recommend and will revisit very soon.

Pours a straw golden color like any regular lager. has a small white head with no lacing. It has a great yeasty smell to it, definitely sweet. Taste is really good, has a wonderful body and a fruity/sweet flavor to it. The yeast is very present in the taste. Mouthfeel is bubbly like most strong Belgian ales. I REALLY enjoy this beer for the price. I think it is on par with Duvel and Piraat and other Belgian ales but is a bargain at the price point. Highly recommended.

A fairly new offering (at least around here) from Schlafly and with the weather getting warmer, I am all in for a nice Belgian Pale...

Lots of spicy yeast and sweet fruitiness present on the nose... touches of barnyard here and there... peaches, apricots, perhaps some grapes? Very pleasant aroma... I like so far...

A wave of semi-sweet fruitiness mingles with the earthy yeast components perfectly with each sip of this beer... I thoroughly enjoyed this offering from start to finish... it hit all the right notes and never let up...

Very very well done...

A - Poured out a clear, pale gold color with a one-finger, bubbly white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass.

S - Spicy aroma with fruity notes. Some caramel and bready aromas.

T - It tasted of spicy, yeastiness. Fruity sweetness with caramel and a touch of hop bitterness.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale.

O - This is a really good Belgian-style ale from Schlafly. Very nice.

Pours a pale gold, with moderate carbonation and attractive tree-line lace.

Nose is sweet and spiced. Definite tones of Belgian candy sugar.

Taste is strong on the spice up front, with a touch of citrus and darker fruit near the finish. There's also a slight warmth at the end, as well.

Overall, a superb Belgian-style ale, and this one is packed with rich flavor. Superb and faithful to the style.
