Notes/Commercial Description:
Our Belgian-Style Golden Ale opens with a fruity nose and rounded sweetness that compose a pale and balanced beer. Hallertau hops lend a hint of spice that balances the aroma and flavor of orchard fruit. Similar to our Belgian Tripel, but with a lighter body and a crisper finish, it is the perfect introduction to the family of Belgian beers renowned for their complexity and delicacy.

Beers from this region reflected the diversity of Belgium itself, a nation that has three official languages (Dutch, French, and German). Bordering Germany and France, Belgian ales incorporate the complex flavors of French wine into the German brewing heritage. In Post World War II Europe, Belgian brewers developed golden strong ales to compete with the rising popularity of lighter Pilsner style beers.

Bottled on 7 May 13...

Pours an effervescent golden/bronze with a thumb of pearl colored head. Above average lacing & average head retention

S: Pears & apple peel, plus perfumy hops

T: Follows the nose, a touch of lemon, honey suckle & a touch of peaches up front. Some lemon peel & grapefruit as this warms, some pear, white grape & honey crisp apple as well. Finishes slightly dry, fruitty, with a touch of lemony hops

MF: Medium bodied, slight carbonation, nice balance

Pretty easy to drink, nothing mid-blowing here, but very solid

Light carbonation dissipates rather quickly. Golden yellow hue. Heavenly sweet candy sugar smell beckons you to taste. The tongue confirms the nose: Sweet candy sugar that quickly fades. Simple, smooth, and refreshing. An excellent thirst quencher for a typical hot, humid St. Louis summer.

ST: Bottle poured into a glass

A:Light bright pale gold color. Pretty decent head

S: Light bright aroma, has an obvious Belgian aroma, with nice fruity notes. Definitely get a sweet aroma along with it.

T: Sweeter flavor with good fruity flavors. Get some pear in it myself. Hides the 7% alcohol very well.

MF: Very light body with a strong Belgian feel. Has a light crisp finish, not a dry finish.

O: Very well put together beer. Has a very good balance of flavors and aromas. Great beer, give it a try

12 ounce bottle, bottled on 3/25/13. Served in a tulip, the beer pours a hazy straw gold color with a half inch white head. Head retention and lacing are both OK. Aroma is fruity and spicy, it smells like pears, Belgian yeast, apricots, straw and bready malt. The taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some cloves, apples, candy sugar and coriander noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit coating and has moderate carbonation. I like this brew, it's nice and tasty. Too bad I only bought a single bottle of this, I'll buy a 6-pack next time. $2.75 a single at Liquor Barn.

A fairly new offering (at least around here) from Schlafly and with the weather getting warmer, I am all in for a nice Belgian Pale...

Lots of spicy yeast and sweet fruitiness present on the nose... touches of barnyard here and there... peaches, apricots, perhaps some grapes? Very pleasant aroma... I like so far...

A wave of semi-sweet fruitiness mingles with the earthy yeast components perfectly with each sip of this beer... I thoroughly enjoyed this offering from start to finish... it hit all the right notes and never let up...

Very very well done...
