Notes/Commercial Description:
Our IPA is a session IPA, a smooth golden ale packed with the bold flavor and aroma of American hops. We crafted it in the spirit of the low gravity IPAs common in the UK where the style stands for hoppy, not heavy.

India Pale Ales (IPAs) were first brewed in England during the late 1700s for export overseas to British soldiers in India. To keep their beer from spoiling during the long voyage, English brewers fortified their traditional pale ale recipes with hops as a natural preservative. Today, the term IPA is used for many full flavored beers along a wide array of recipes.

Poured into a DFH IPA glass. Bright gold with a rocky two finger head. Bottled on May 22, 2013. Date on bottom of can and on packaging.

Very clean floral scent; perfume and earth. A touch of bready malt works well with the floral and resin hop note. Crisp and refreshing. A touch of bitter orange peel in the finish. Also an interesting note of saltine crackers -- its fairly subtle and thus makes this rather straightforward, low ABV IPA a bit more interesting. Mouthfeel is smooth and clean; carbonation keeps things lively. Medium-light body.

Very solid ale with lots of flavor for the ABV. Schlafly joins with other brewers in creating sessionable IPAs, which work well for the hot summer weather. It really deserves a place at your next cookout.

This is my first review of a Schlafly, had this at mellow mushroom poured out of the can into a pint glass. Pale golden color, not really what you'd expect from an IPA, even a session. Mild hop and lemon flavors, smooth and drinkable, I had it at night but it'd be great if you were looking for some hops that you could day drink. It's not the best session IPA I've had, this genre can be tough to pull off, but it's still very good. Pick some up.

A: crystal clear; burnt orange in color; 1.5 finger white head that receded to a thin film; light lacing;

S: fresh mowed grass; pine, and a bit of tropical fruit;

T: caramel malt with dank pine; low to moderated citrus rind bitterness from mid-palate through the finish;

M: a little thin; moderate carbonation;

O: I wish there was more hop flavor, but still this is one of the better session IPAs I've had;

My sister brought this back from St. Louis

Clear gold with a thin head. Smells like lemon and grassy hop but that fades quickly and leaves a bland golden ale pale malt eh in its wake. Taste is a again initially lemongrass hops but once that fades the mildly caramel malt and and subtle bitter in back give an expired apple juice impression. Kinda bubbly.

30 ibus will stretch only so far. Well thanks for thinking of me sis just the same.
