A: From the nitro-tap. Bubbly, dark, like Coke dark. Nice, swirling tan head.

S: Coffee, dark chocolate. Sweet malts.

T: Lightly roasted chocolate malt. Nutty, with a slight bittereness.

M: Coats the mouth with bitter coffee/chocolate haze.

D: Not a huge fan of the stlye, but, decent enough to have more than one.

Appearance: Pours deep brown, almost black, with a fantastic nitro cascading effect. A creamy tan head starts out thick and stays that way, leaving lots of lace down the glass.

Smell: Fairly basic aroma of rich, roasted coffee and dark grains.

Taste: Rich and grainy in flavor with a day-old, roasted coffee character that brings a fair dose of bitterness. There's a touch of caramel underneath the coffee. After that, the flavor gets a bit thin, but it's still tasty.

Mouthfeel: Medium in body with smooth and velvety mouthfeel. Dry and bitter finish.

Drinkability: Quite good. This is a pretty good dry stout for slow sipping. It's fairly low in alcohol, so having several pints doesn't hit you as hard.

One of my very favorite Irish Stouts, this beer is deep brown to black in color, well balanced, with wonderful roasted malt flavors up front, hints of coffee and bitter chocolate in the middle, and finish that is dry, bitter and most importantly not sour.

I love stouts, but not this one. It is good, but it lacks in deep flavors, smell, and the smooth mouthfeel that stouts should have.

A - Beautiful black with a one finger tan head that lingers

S - Weak hints on malts and roasted nuts

T - very dry and malty, with a slightly bitter hoppy aftertaste

M - smooth, but not compared to most stouts

D - surprisingly strong

On tap @ Schlafly Repeal Festival. Black with tan head, decent lacing. Smell is roasted nuts, dark chocolate, and malts. Taste is dark chocolate, almonds. Nice body, medium-full, and great for this style. I like this dry stout, could easily have a couple more (and did).

Served in a snifter, this one pours an almost opaque black with slight rudy highlights in the light. The head is thick and tan, leaving sheets of lacing in the snifter. Nose is of roasted malts, espresso, and a touch of dark chocolate. The palate is consistent with the nose, starting off with a dry baker's chocolate and coffee attitude and finishing dry as the hops assert themselves in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium-thick and substantial. A very good dry stout, I think. We had two at the Taproom, so it's worth coming back to for sure. Very nice.

They must have goofed on this season’s batch. The black pour only had a ½ inch tan head that quickly dissipated. Aroma was marginal on the malts. The taste, wow, completely dominated by 3 day old stale coffee flavor, to the point of being over-bearing. No other flavors could penetrate the coffee wall. The Schlafly Kaldi's Coffee Stout is very good; this stuff was tough to make it thru a whole pint.

A nice solid dry stout, this beer has a very dark body, nearly black, with a tall tan head, good retention and very nnice lacing. The aroma is mild and light and gives mainly a roasted malt sense. The flavor is also roasted malt and is nicely bitter in the finish. This very nice, drinkable stout that could last a session.
