When we visited the taproom around six on a Saturday night, this place was hoppin'! While we didn't have to wait for a table, almost every other table was full. This place is located just a little bit west of downtown...far enough that you need to drive or take a cab. And although the brewery and several other restaurants in the newly gentrified area seem quite upscale, there were quite a few homeless looking guys milling about, and there were two really shady looking guys in the lobby asking to use their phone...scary.
Anyhow, the atmosphere is nice without being too ritzy, and the big oak bar looks inviting. We were seated promptly, and out waiter was really on top of his game even though it was really busy.
The food was focused on German and English pub food....I saw wiener schnitzel and other stuff like that on the menu. We had some really big soft German pretzels with some really good mustard to start, and I ordered the ploughman's plate that came with some really good meats and cheeses and Branston pickle.
The beers were outstanding...see my reviews for that, I won't go into detail here other than to say that they offer a lot of seasonal big beers and the pumpkin ale is ridiculous.
Definitley worth a visit if you are in STL.
