I especially like the atmosphere at Schlafly because it is enormous, with high ceilings, lots of room at the bar, lots of space between tables, abundant windows providing natural light, gorgeous knotty wood...it's just a nice place to be. We were there during a week day so had the game area and jukebox all to ourselves, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Abundant choices for samplers, given by a backwoods kind of bartender. The locals who did not seem concerned about getting back to work, liked to talk and made us feel welcome. Delicious beer, d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s, especially the pumpkin ale. We spent an entire afternoon trying one amazing sample after another, he getting better at darts the more he drank and me getting worse (although I kind of suck to begin with). It takes the same amount of time to fly to St. Louis as it takes me to bus to work everyday, and it is easily worth the time and effort. If you are going to the St. Louis area, you gotta go to Schlafly.

Just passing threw but had to stop (with the family) for I wanted a growler. They do have a good value on filled growlers.
Great old building, lots of brick and wood. Gives good old world brewery feel. Dark but yet well lite.
We stopped mid-afternoon, ample parking behind the brewery though not a busy time.
It was us, a small group and accouple at the bar.
So for us service was very good and quick. I ordered my Growler, a draft, appitiz, soup and gotta try the beer bread. Kids had root-beer floats.
We were in a spacey booth by brewer tanks behind glass. awesome.
Bought a accouple glasses, the bill came to $80.
But did i say worth it!!

The wife and I stopped at Schafly's Tap Room right after Six Row and liked it so much better. Place is huge, sprawling and oh-so-packed on a Saturday afternoon at 4:45 pm. This is a happening joint! But there's enough room for everyone- we found a spot around the dart-and-pool room and ordered from the bar. Lots of nooks and crannies around here...
Service was fine despite being crowded and beer is delicious and super fresh. They have 16 taps with a bit of everything (including two casks, Brown Ale and AIPA, but they're only in one of the two bars, so watch for them). We had the Grand Cru, Dry-Hopped APA and AIPA (7.2%). All of them were outstanding. We went home with a growler of the nasty-good AIPA for $13.
Ambience is great, cozy and comfortable despite being busy, with great and varied music (Queens, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bon Jovi in between to fuck it up) and just a nice vibe.
Price is great here. Growlers are only $12 including the glass! Two 1/2 pints and a free full tasting of the Grand Cru was $7.50. Nice!
All in all, a cool place I look forward to go back to (and maybe try the food)!

Pretty much located downtown in St. Louis this is the original location and a second one has been added in Maplewood, called Bottleworks. Beer is brewed here and the building has multiple rooms and floors for various groups and sometimes music. Very nice game room right off the entrance and next to the bar. The food is consistenly high quality, but tends to be more british pub type food, vs fried wings and toasted ravoili, etc, a pleaseant break from regular bar food. Prices are reasonable for what you get, and the beer is constantly changing with their seasonals and special pub only brews which are nice. A great place to visit if you're downtown.

My work trips to Saint Louis aren't complete without a stop at Schlafly Tap Room. There is always a wide variety of beer styles to choose from and the beer is very consistent. Among my favs are the No. 15, Pumpkin Ale, APA, Coffee Stout, Christmas Ale, Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout, and Oak Aged Barley Wine. These beers should be enjoyed at the bar or the gameroom (which you have to yourself for the most part during the weekdays in the afternoon).
But what really sets this place apart is the atmosphere and food. The place is spacious and generally packed, but find a seat at the bar and you'll be befriended by the local regulars where you'll be engaged in stimulating conversion. And while you're making new friends, don't forget to get an order of beer bread or soft pretzels to share with those around you.
As for the brewery tour, I've gone once and enjoyed it very much. There wasn't anything amazingly different about the facility but the history of the brewery is very intruiging.

Situated in an old brick industrial park surrounded by smaller brewpubs and restaurants which seems to be the staple in downtown St. Louis. The Schlafly Tap Room is in an old factory and is quite spacious with two lower level bars. Left side has a few couches and bar tables. Pool darts and a juke box to boot. Up to 12 different taps. Consistant yet oft rotating seasonals and one short. Just okay food. The temperature of the beer from the taps is not optimal but its better than most joints. Cask at the South bar. More of a dining room area, but you can still belly up to the bar. Ample parking in the lot and on the street. Brewers and execs always running around. Nice tavern feel. Lotta wood. Old school art on the walls. Classy and clean. Friendly staff, some more versed than others. Overall, a good fun place to hang out!

Fantastic old building with a nice atmosphere for eating and drinking. The food is beyond what you’d expect in a run-of-the-mill bar/restaurant or brewpub. Schlafly is diligent about using local farms and high-quality ingredients. This is one of my favorite places to eat and drink when I’m back home in St. Louis. Excellent location between Downtown and Midtown, so it’s close to everywhere. The tap list updates constantly, and there are always 2 casks. They have frequent events here and host some great festivals throughout the year. Oh yeah, and the beer is very good. A must-visit if in St. Louis.

One of my favorite spots for beer and food in STL. Just had dinner there the other night and sat in the courtyard for the first time so I thought I'd write the review, having sat in the dining room, bar, and the outside courtyard now.
Great atmosphere here for a brewery. Renovated old building, close to downtown, and close to several other new breweries opening up in the area.
Of course, you have to be a fan of Schlafly beers (which I am a huge fan), but if you have others in your party who don't drink beer, they have several wine selections as well.
The service has always been great any time we've stopped in for dinner. Two bar areas available, one in the dining room, and one on the other side next to the billiards room. The food is very good, and the burgers are great. I love how they keep the beer selections rotating, especially the cask selections.

I love the Schlafly Taproom! It is a place you that you can go into, knowing you are going to have a good meal and something nice to drink. They always have two rotating beers on cask and around 8 more rotating on draft. I always get a growler fill there, as it is the cheapest in the area. They also have a mix-a-six cooler, and their 750s for sale. I love the Mussels, but have never had anything from there I didn't like. I tend to stay with lighter fare, and make up my carbs in beer. The "Plate of Swine" is pretty magical though, and the burgers are outstanding.
The location is great as well. You are just a short distance from Six Row, Urban Chestnut, Buffalo, Square One, and iTap. All great beer drinking stops.
If you are looking for good beer, food, and atmosphere in the St. Louis area then this is your place!

I love going to the Schlafly Tap Room. Bout my first Growler from there as they are down the street from Saint Louis university, where I attend. I had known of their reputation from a few bottled beers that I had. Right away walking in you get a great vibe from the bare bones feel of the place. Its a very warm and inviting atmosphere. The servers there are really helpful and they will gladly explain any of the beers served, although the beer menu is also very detailed. The food is also delicious, i would recommend the burger to anyone. Worth a stop for anybody who loves good beer, good food and a good time
