My interpretation of a traditional India Pale Ale, with a pleasant dose of bitterness and a fresh, fruity taste. Inspiring and exotic. Surprises with citrus notes and floral nuances and finishes with hints of wild honey and caramelized malt.

I enjoyed a 0.75l bottle of this on 30SEP13, in Rothenburg. It was a gift from good friend Iain (jamesw). Best by 26JUN15.

Poured a clear, golden honey color - lovely! Head was off-white/light tan and like whipped cream! It lasted and lasted, the frothy foaminess leaving super lace. Smell was slightly sweet and of exotic fruit. Body was medium to medium-plus, and it did not raise a ruckus on the tongue.

Taste led off with some subtle caramel and then some stronger honey-like sweetness. It then veers off towards tropical fruit land, with mango, green apple and some pear appearing. A bit of citrus is also in the mix, with a hint of florality. Quite nice! Thnx, Iain!!

Prosit!

My local drink market got fresh bottles in today so I thought I would drink one and rate this.

Pours with nice off white chunky head that dissipates slowly, good lacing. Slightly hazy pale amber color. Smells of citrus, sweetness and hops, maybe honey.

Nice hoppy flavor, very smooth with a nice strong bitterness aftertaste. I would call it a creamy bitterness with carbonation.

I really enjoy this beer and the fact that it is so much different than anything I have drank since I left the US. I never knew how much I missed good beer and diversity until I lived in Germany for about 6 years and stumbled upon this. Only bad thing I can say about it is that is maybe a bit over-carbonated for my tastes.

75 cl. bottle. Pretty orange colour, with a white head that fades quickly. No lace. Smell of tropical fruits, caramel, herbs, citrus, fruity. Medium body, sweet palate with a bitter finish, not really that much bitter, but you notice it. Taste is fruity, with caramel and tropical fruits.

750ml bottle, poured in stages into a La Chouffe
chalice.

A: Orangey amber, slight haze, small
slightly tanned fast fading head, some lacing.

S: Apple, Cascade hop and slight diacetyl.

T: Lots of apple, strong notes of cassis, weaker bready
notes. The bitterness only kicks in at the finish,
kept the booze under wraps.

M: Light body for the strength, carbonation fades slightly, smooth
enough to go down well.

O: An Upper Franconian take on an American IPA, was consistent with
other European takes on the style that I’ve tried,
as it had that touch of sweetness, definitely worth
a revisit.

Misty dark golden with a small white head, sticky, but short lasting.
Bittersweet citrus in the smell, emphasis on orange juice and grapefruit peel. Biscuit, hint of butterscotch, honeyed malt, faint floral notes.
Really bitter up front, lots of grapefruit and lime zest. Mellows down with a bit of sweet tangerine and honeyed peach. Biscuit malts, caramel. Big floral notes for a bitter perfumey finish.
Notes of butter come up in the aftertaste, citrus peel lingers and bitter hop stays stuck for a while. Medium body and carbonation, but a bit sticky.
A decent enough IPA, not too fancy and also not perfectly crafted. Not bad, but not too good.
