Poured from a 500mL bottle into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a transparent light red with a nice white head that disappears all too quickly. Smells of wheat with hints of light fruit. Tastes of wheat and lots of fruit, with hints of banana and orange. Beer is light bodied and carbonated right with a good finish. Overall, a very good beer.

Lots of head as expected for a weisse bier. Different colour, darker than usual, hazy cooperish tone. Predominantly banana aroma. Taste follows the aroma adding some cloves to it, and clear yeast. Starts zesty with some bitterness, and ends (very late) a little dry. Very refreshing.

Poured from a bottle into a weizen glass.

Look - light amber color, clear, with about two fingers' worth of foam that dissipates quickly.

Smell - fruity, clove-like smell...generally with a typical hefe type of smell.

Taste - the taste is much like the smell, only the cloves are much more prevalent. It's got a darkish middle of the taste, which is hard to describe, but it just seems to warm up or mature in the middle.

Mouthfeel - pretty well-balanced overall, not having too much of a creamy or watery tendency to it.

Overall - not a bad brew, and pretty indicative of the style.

Pours a honey amber with a big fluffy white head that receedes rather quick leaving sheets of lace that receede as quick.

Nice floral sweet aroma.

Very balanced tart wheat and sweetness that leads to a very low but spot on bittering. Floral and earthy spicy hopping.

Very well recieved medium body for hot days.

Can and have quaffed this delectable beer all day.

Pours a murky honey orange with a 2 inch foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of wheat, spice, yeast, banana, and some slight caramel aromas. Taste is of wheat, spice, and yeast up front with a slight banana aftertaste. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a great aroma that is quite easy to drink.

A - clear golden, thumb of head dissipated quickly to a few random islands
S - strong banana and wheat, light cloves, and alight earthy note
T - similar to the nose but cracker grainy flavours are more dominant, yeasty esters through the finish
M - very big carbonation to the point of domination, finishes lightly spicy
O - had the general expected flavour profile and is enjoyable, just a little heavy on the carbonation for my preference of sytle

Review from 12/2010 notes. Poured into a Nostradamus flute glass. Pours a cloudy orange amber with a moderate white head and lacing. A sweet wheat aroma. Pleasant slightly sweet wheat and light fruit flavor finishing smoothly, almost as if the flavor disappears, but leaves a very pleasant light wheat and light sweet malt finish. Very mellow and well balanced. Light to medium bodied. A pleasure to drink.

I picked up a dozen bottles of various hefeweizens today at the Binny's store in Bloomingdale, IL. so I could compare the different versions. This Maisel's Original came in a 1 pint 0.9oz brown bottle with no freshness date for $3.29 a bottle.

The beer poured a cloudy dark apricot color with 2-fingers worth of foamy white head that lasted about a minute. Lacing was minimal.

The beer smells like wheat bread with a lot of spices in it. A faint banana smell can be picked up in the background.

The beer has an apple/banana fruit flavor to it along with plenty of wheaty yeast taste. Clove and other spices round out the flavor.

Medium body with medium carbonation.

Overall I liked this, but prefer hefes with a more pronounced banana flavor and sweeter mouthfeel.
