Had out of the 0.5L bottle into a weizen glass at the Schnitzel Bude in Berlin on July 23rd. Poured light golden and free of any yeast cloudiness. Smell was your typical weizen but a bit subdued. Tastes great, though. I think a lot of folks aren't giving this one credit. It doesn't pack the hefeweizen yeast punch, but it is not supposed to. This one is very balanced between the sweetness, the wheat, and the yeast. Super refreshing and easy to drink.

500mL bottle into a here glass
Bottle number: 17 L 14 (whatever that means)

A: Crystal clear (see what I did there), very pale light yellow, 3+ fingers width of dense bright white head which has great retention before dissipating down but leaves only a few small patches of lacing. 4

S: Banana and clove, wheat, spice, ton of fruity esters, really great nose. 4.25

T: Like the nose, lots of fruity esters. Banana is prominent, spice is much more tame with just some clove, lots of wheat characters. 4

M/D: Medium body, carbonation on the heavier side but is appropriate, its quite filling for a low ABV beer. 4

O: Enjoyable beer. I’d have this one again. 4

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow in color with significant amounts of active visible carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass almost constantly and some light amount of yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy white head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of wheat with lighter notes of clove and banana plus just a light amount of yeastiness.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of yeastiness with light to moderate flavors of banana and clove. Light amounts of breadiness and just a touch of yeastiness. Minimal amounts of bitterness.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: The ultimate session beer (in my opinion) and a great beer for the warm summer weather. Very enjoyable and refreshing.

one of my favorites while stationed in Babenhausen Germany in the Army. I spend many sunday nights spit shining my boots and pressing my BDUs while drinking this.

I used to be a big fan of this type of brew but i have moved on to IPAs,

good stuff. Wish i had some now.

500 ml bottle poured into Weizen glass.

Clear golden color. Large head after pouring but fades away quickly and leaves almost no lacing. Looks like a standard lager but less carbonated.
Aroma is nice. I can smell wheat, yeast, citrus and apples.
Taste seems a bit to sour for the style. It isn't really unpleasant but it seems a bit out of place.
Body feels light and soft. Not very carbonated.

Overall I wasn't impressed. The taste didn't seem right. It was too lemony and it left my mouth dry.

I must preface this review by saying that Im coming of a Weihenstephan Kristall, but I needed to compare.

Bright golden body, but I want more. The head was seriously lacking. It wouldnt be bad for an IPA, but I want big and foamy. but I got a nice tight small bubbled decently thick head.

Ok the smell. I dont even think lackluster is appropriate. I dont get much in the way of yeast ethers. I get a small hint of banana and just a touch of clove. Huge notes of corn and toffee with a hint of caramel.

The taste is so underwhelming, its bordering on bad. Maybe its the lingering Weihenstephan, but I can feel just a touch of clove. I just want something, but I get nothing. I mean I do get things like toffee and a smoothness that Id associate with lagers, but this is a Kristalweizen. Actually like quintuple checked every word on the bottle, because it didnt seem right. Its light bodied and drinkable.

The best word I can think of is muddled. Theyve got the right idea with some clove and banana sneaking in late, but its just sutck in the mire with the sweet adjuncts.

Just an epic fail all around

Appearance: Poured into a half-liter weizen glass. The color is clear, light gold. Three fingers of fluffy, thick head dissipated slowly to leave a billow lacing; eventually it settled to a thin lacing and ring around the edge.

Smell: No surprises and very straightforward. Sweet apple, banana, a little strawberry, grassy hops, yeast, and a little clove spice.

Taste: The mouthfeel is very light and refreshing, though it has a bready body to it. The yeast and brad are noticeable up front and are followed by apple, banana, and clove spice. The fruit flavors really shine after the beer has warmed.

Drinkability: High drinkability, but it lacks complexity and boldness. It is still a good brew.

Bottle into Grolsch pint glass in low altitude Galway, Ireland. Reviewed live.

A: Two finger head devoid of cream with decent thickness and retention. Clear dark yellow colour.

Sm: Light scent of just barley. Disappointing.

T: Creamed barley with malt and a sprinkling of hops. Fairly balanced, but poorly built as a kristall. Where are all the obligatory crystal hops? This is almost more a bad pilsner than a proper kristall.

Mf: Smooth and wet, but coarse towards the climax. Not suitable to the flavours of the body or the style.

Dr: Average price for a below average beer.

Drank from my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a classic clear golden colour with a tight white head that retains well and laces.

S - Small hops and malt.

T - Hops up front , not much malt, I expected a little more from this beer.

M - Light to medium body with decent carbonation.

O - The Weihenstephan is a better version but makes an OK session beer.

[Best served in a Weizen glass]

Poured a medium yellow with a large white frothy head that was mostly diminishing and had poor lacing. The aroma was strong of yeast, light flowery hops and a straw malt with notes of banana. It tasted very light with the flavor being very yeasty and slightly bitter in the beginning and mellowed to a mild yeast flavor with a hint of banana and some spice. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall an OK light kristall weisse.

pours bright clear yellow with no head no lacing

smell is standard banana and clove

taste is very odd there is some funky rubber flavors along side the banana clove and a tiny bit of spice plus the flavors are watered down

mouthfeel is way too heavy for a beer that is thin in flavor

drinkability is not good when i can buy a Weihenstephaner for the same price

Newish arrival in our market, though Maisel's Weisse used to be here a few years ago.

Into a weizen glass, it billows up some and puffs above the rim at first. It's a bright, high-clarity honey gold, with racing carbonation streams. Kristalweizen is unnaturally clear through filtration, but it's a nice looking beer, with strong head retention. Personally I prefer the cloudy, opaque orange of a traditional Hefe.

Sweet earthy wheat aroma, some clove and bready spices. Seems a touch muted, though I don't know the age of the bottle. Sweet and bready flavors, more spicy clove, and maybe a tiny bit of oxidation. Not a dealbreaker though, this is a nice quaffer in warm weather. Verging on creamy, and generously carbonated.

A style seldom seen in the states, not too different from regular Hefes besides the appearance.

This is one of the best Weisse i have ever tasted. Poured in my Paulaner glass the beer shows itself from its best side. In the tall glass the beer looks perfect. Crystal clear.

A nice big fluffy head which only slowly disappears. Light yellow fluid with nice carbonation.

The is a lightsweet smell, fruits like banana and fresh smells like citrus.

The taste is very good, allmost perfection. Every sip is a pleasure. Wish i had bought some more!!

Ah well, there is always a next time that i visit Germany.

had this bier from a 1/2 litre bottle.

A: Pours a clearm yelloish color with a decent head with minimal lacing. Moderate carbonation. One can read through the bier...reminds me of a good pilsner look.
S: crisp, mild hops, fresh scent that is pleasing and inviting.
T: Rather understated, but that fits with the style of bier. Mod crispness, a pleasing taste.
M: A little dry after taste, nothing harsh or over bearing.
D: Easy to drink, a good flavor that keeps you coming back.

Overall, a good bier but not a great one. It is easy to drink and is a wonderful session bier. I do recommend this bier, enjoy, Prosit.

Poured from 16.9 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours clear pale yellow with huge white soapy foam head of three or more fingers. Abundant carbonation helps with head retention, light lacing.

Aromas are relatively light but unmistakably classic wheat: banana & clove with some lemony citrus as well.

Flavors are delicate and smooth, along with a relatively smooth texture that makes this brew easy to drink. Certainly some lightly sweet wheaty maltiness, as well as some earthy yeasty flavors - all in balance and well maintained with some mild hopping. The finish is sweet at first and then lingers a touch dry with a hint of that telltale wheat chafe.

Nice and enjoyable, easy to drink, and just good. Recommended.

Poured into a tall wheat beer glass.

A - Pale straw in colour. Very carbonated. Poured with a substantial head, which was retained well.

S - Clear hops smells, with a fruity almost lemon hint. Also, a very faint biscuit-like aroma.

T - Dry and crisp, with a sharp fruity taste on the back of the tongue.

D - Very refreshing to drink. Maybe slightly over carbonated, which possible takes away from the flavours.

This pours a bright straw colour with a generous head with some good retention.

The aromas are dominated by cloves with a touch of banana hiding in there as well.

A mouthful of all the flavours I love in a good wheat beer - cloves and bananas.

Lots of carbonation gives it a big mouthfeel.

One of the best beers I've had for a while. Love it.

This is the first Kristalweizen that I have ever really attempted to evaluate, so here it goes. It pours a clean, golden color that is very similar to a Helles with a head that is much smaller than the normal Weissbier. The smell is rather neutral and seems kind of like a light Weissbier. The taste I thought was rather skunked with some very faint traces of fruitiness. The overall mouthfeel though is pretty smooth, but this can't really compensate for the taste. Easy beer to drink, not so simple to enjoy.

The beer pours a beautifully clear straw color, with a huge foamy head that slowly dissolves into some tight lacing.

The smell is dominated by cloves, the bananna doesn't seem to be present. There is a little cereal maltiness present as well, little to no alcohol present in nose.

The taste follows along the same lines. It is extremely well balanced, the bananna shows itself much more. The clove is still present.

The mouthfeel is excellent, crisp, refreshing...just the right amount of lingering sweetness.

I could drink this until the cows come home. Especially for the cheap cheap price. Very nice.

A: Poured from a bottle to a weizen glass. Had a golden color and a clear consistency, along with a big, foamy, long-lasting head.

S: Very wheaty smell, with some light fruit and spices mixed in.

T: Wheat dominates the flavor, but there are traces of banana, cloves and other spices. Not the most complex taste of this style, but pretty decent.

M: A highly carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Full-bodied.

D: Overall, this is a drinkable beer. It didn't blow me away in the way others of this style have, but it's still a solidly made brew.

50 cl bottle poured into a weizen glass yields a clear and very pale straw body with a hand's width of fine-bubbled, creamy white head that stubbornly retains at two fat fingers and leaves a foamy ring.

Smell is richly earthy, lightly fruity with a note of raw wheat.

Taste is wheaty-- lightly tangy and sweet with a nutty touch-- plus the barest hint of ripe banana, with a slightly powdery dry finish. A light body with lively carbonation makes it a very light drink easily quaffed.

Poured from 16.9 oz bottle into weizen glass.

A - Pale yellow and clear, much like a pilsner. Huge, creamy, nearly 4 finger head with decent retention. Settled into thick film, some lacing.

S - Almost like a hefe, but toned down. Faint banana and even fainter clove aromas are there, with something I didn't expect; a light presence of spicy hops.

T - Here's where the disappointment starts. By default this is going to be an inferior hefe, but I still don't think it's anything great. I thought the wheat malt would shine through a lot more, but then again Maisel's hefe didn't have much wheat character anyway. It's a faint malt flavor all around, with a mere suggestion of the banana. The hops are most of what I'm tasting, giving it a flavor like Pilsner Urquell. The flavor isn't bad but there isn't much there.

M - Fairly carbonated, and a little oily. The thickness coupled with the almost watery flavor detracts.

D - I could drink a few of these for sure, but it isn't very interesting. If I was itching for a flavor like this, I'd probably reach for a Czech or German pils anyway.

Very light and clear straw color with a white, rocky, creamy, thick head. Aromas of baked apples with cinamon and brown sugar followed by bubblegum. Flavor is a slightly subdued version of the aroma, except the addition of a mildly tart wheat bite. The mouthfeel is lighter than a regular hefeweizen due to the filtration, yet this one seems to have more flavor and elegance than other Kristalweizens. Finishes with some firm pilsener malt and a touch of apples. This bottle is only the second Maisel's Kristall I've had, fifteen years after the first one in Germany. I just picked it up tonight at a Harris Teeter, because I haven't seen it in so long, and I immediately thought of the fun night so long ago when I had my first one. Fresh too.

Sorry but this following comment is in french :

Appearance : bière de froment à la robe claire, beau chapeau de mousse, belle effervescence
Smell : nez de froment, nuances de zeste de citron
Taste and mouthfeel : arôme fruité très frais et à la finale nerveuse très rafraîchissante
Drinkability : une bonne bière dans le style kristal weizen
