Ok now this was a somewhat abnormal pickup for me, well not really in the sense of the style, just that I normally would not have picked this up at this time of year, but whatever, I love them so go for it right. Poured a vigorous pale golden yellow with a huge head of fizzy white lace, took several pours before the entire bottle could be released in a very tall glass. Lots of carbonation was apparent from the start through the absolutely flawless crystal clear nature of it. No sediment and no haze at all. Head settled down to just a thin film and that lasted throughout, but leaving copious side lace. Smell was very light, almost non existent at first but then some nice grain aromas broke though with a touch of yeast to add. Light flavor as well, just a nice light wheat flavor is really all that can be said about it. Mouth feel was again very light with ample carbonation it went down like water. Huge session ale here, this had all the earmarks of a hot summer day in the backyard brew. Overall not the best I have ever had but nowhere near the worst. An average Hefe is better then a macro any day, and this was no exception, a fine, but average selection.

Newish arrival in our market, though Maisel's Weisse used to be here a few years ago.

Into a weizen glass, it billows up some and puffs above the rim at first. It's a bright, high-clarity honey gold, with racing carbonation streams. Kristalweizen is unnaturally clear through filtration, but it's a nice looking beer, with strong head retention. Personally I prefer the cloudy, opaque orange of a traditional Hefe.

Sweet earthy wheat aroma, some clove and bready spices. Seems a touch muted, though I don't know the age of the bottle. Sweet and bready flavors, more spicy clove, and maybe a tiny bit of oxidation. Not a dealbreaker though, this is a nice quaffer in warm weather. Verging on creamy, and generously carbonated.

A style seldom seen in the states, not too different from regular Hefes besides the appearance.

Bottle into Grolsch pint glass in low altitude Galway, Ireland. Reviewed live.

A: Two finger head devoid of cream with decent thickness and retention. Clear dark yellow colour.

Sm: Light scent of just barley. Disappointing.

T: Creamed barley with malt and a sprinkling of hops. Fairly balanced, but poorly built as a kristall. Where are all the obligatory crystal hops? This is almost more a bad pilsner than a proper kristall.

Mf: Smooth and wet, but coarse towards the climax. Not suitable to the flavours of the body or the style.

Dr: Average price for a below average beer.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow in color with significant amounts of active visible carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass almost constantly and some light amount of yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy white head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of wheat with lighter notes of clove and banana plus just a light amount of yeastiness.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of yeastiness with light to moderate flavors of banana and clove. Light amounts of breadiness and just a touch of yeastiness. Minimal amounts of bitterness.

M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation.

O: The ultimate session beer (in my opinion) and a great beer for the warm summer weather. Very enjoyable and refreshing.

A: Poured from a bottle to a weizen glass. Had a golden color and a clear consistency, along with a big, foamy, long-lasting head.

S: Very wheaty smell, with some light fruit and spices mixed in.

T: Wheat dominates the flavor, but there are traces of banana, cloves and other spices. Not the most complex taste of this style, but pretty decent.

M: A highly carbonated beer with a smooth finish. Full-bodied.

D: Overall, this is a drinkable beer. It didn't blow me away in the way others of this style have, but it's still a solidly made brew.

Pours a one finger white head. The beer is light straw in color.

Smells lightly of grassy hops and wheat malt. Hints of esters and pinapple are present, along with a little yeastiness.

Carbonation is a little low for the style. Body is light to medium light. Not watery at all.

Taste is of light wheat malt, a little grassiness, and some esters. Finish is dry and clean with some fruitiness lingering.

My wife, a full-blooded German, tells me this is usually served with a lemon wedge in its home country. Not all that enthused about adding citrus slices to my beers, I am reviewing this one without the wedge.

Pours a 1/2-finger head, a typical golden color (looks like beer!), but a shade darker than the average pils. Doesn't leave much lace.

Smell is incredibly subtle, there's a dominant graininess, with an ever so slight banana aroma in the background.

Tastes like a hefe-weizen minus the abundant yeast: grainy with very slight apple, citrus, malt and yeast hints. Kind of plain, definitely mellow, but very refreshing.

Feels light, dry and crisp in the mouth with a bit of a banana slickness.

An easy-drinking beer that would be best in the summer. Not hefty or flavorful enough for winter drinking.

50cl. bottle: This one pours a clear, golden color. There was a fairly large white frothy head, but it did subside quickly. Quite a bit of bubbles in the beer. I get a bit of clove and banana to the nose. A slightly lighter beer, with notes of wheat, banana and a weak spiciness. Maybe a touch of dryness/sourness in the aftertaste. Good, but I’ll stick with a regular Hefe.

500 ml bottle poured into Weizen glass.

Clear golden color. Large head after pouring but fades away quickly and leaves almost no lacing. Looks like a standard lager but less carbonated.
Aroma is nice. I can smell wheat, yeast, citrus and apples.
Taste seems a bit to sour for the style. It isn't really unpleasant but it seems a bit out of place.
Body feels light and soft. Not very carbonated.

Overall I wasn't impressed. The taste didn't seem right. It was too lemony and it left my mouth dry.

Sweetsi apricoty flavour, low bitterness. slight acidity, quite light and smooth, not overly interesting, but very drinkable, but quite expensive here in Australia for what you get, Redback is probably better at a cheaper price.

Sorry but this following comment is in french :

Appearance : bière de froment à la robe claire, beau chapeau de mousse, belle effervescence
Smell : nez de froment, nuances de zeste de citron
Taste and mouthfeel : arôme fruité très frais et à la finale nerveuse très rafraîchissante
Drinkability : une bonne bière dans le style kristal weizen

pours bright clear yellow with no head no lacing

smell is standard banana and clove

taste is very odd there is some funky rubber flavors along side the banana clove and a tiny bit of spice plus the flavors are watered down

mouthfeel is way too heavy for a beer that is thin in flavor

drinkability is not good when i can buy a Weihenstephaner for the same price

50 cl bottle poured into a weizen glass yields a clear and very pale straw body with a hand's width of fine-bubbled, creamy white head that stubbornly retains at two fat fingers and leaves a foamy ring.

Smell is richly earthy, lightly fruity with a note of raw wheat.

Taste is wheaty-- lightly tangy and sweet with a nutty touch-- plus the barest hint of ripe banana, with a slightly powdery dry finish. A light body with lively carbonation makes it a very light drink easily quaffed.

This is one of the best Weisse i have ever tasted. Poured in my Paulaner glass the beer shows itself from its best side. In the tall glass the beer looks perfect. Crystal clear.

A nice big fluffy head which only slowly disappears. Light yellow fluid with nice carbonation.

The is a lightsweet smell, fruits like banana and fresh smells like citrus.

The taste is very good, allmost perfection. Every sip is a pleasure. Wish i had bought some more!!

Ah well, there is always a next time that i visit Germany.

Drank from my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a classic clear golden colour with a tight white head that retains well and laces.

S - Small hops and malt.

T - Hops up front , not much malt, I expected a little more from this beer.

M - Light to medium body with decent carbonation.

O - The Weihenstephan is a better version but makes an OK session beer.

[Best served in a Weizen glass]

Poured a medium yellow with a large white frothy head that was mostly diminishing and had poor lacing. The aroma was strong of yeast, light flowery hops and a straw malt with notes of banana. It tasted very light with the flavor being very yeasty and slightly bitter in the beginning and mellowed to a mild yeast flavor with a hint of banana and some spice. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a soft carbonation. Overall an OK light kristall weisse.

5.2% abv beer.

Poured a huge, smooth, bright white head leaves a few thick strands of lace. I wasn't sure what to expect in from the aroma, but I got some nice banana and bubble gum. Maybe it's just the light golden color, but the flavor seems to be a toned down version of a Hefe. Sounds about right for the style so far. Light, almost crisp flavors of bubble gum and a bit of zesty wheat and lemon towards the finish. A little flavor hangs around through the finish tempting me to take another sip. Light, soft mouthfeel with a bit of fine fizz as I swallow. A delicate weizen. Not for those looking for a beer bursting with flavor, but then that's not a bad thing either.

Clear gold. Looks and smells just as if you filtered a Hefe Weizen ;-) Of course Kristal is exactly that. The filtration of the yeast yields a lighter beer and yet maintains some of the flavor characteristics of an unfiltered weisse. Hints of lemon, banana and clove gently interact to create a light and dry but tasty Kristalweizen. Not a favorite style of mine but I could see this doing fine as a summer brew. By and large many US craft brewers model the American wheat style after the Kristall style.

I must preface this review by saying that Im coming of a Weihenstephan Kristall, but I needed to compare.

Bright golden body, but I want more. The head was seriously lacking. It wouldnt be bad for an IPA, but I want big and foamy. but I got a nice tight small bubbled decently thick head.

Ok the smell. I dont even think lackluster is appropriate. I dont get much in the way of yeast ethers. I get a small hint of banana and just a touch of clove. Huge notes of corn and toffee with a hint of caramel.

The taste is so underwhelming, its bordering on bad. Maybe its the lingering Weihenstephan, but I can feel just a touch of clove. I just want something, but I get nothing. I mean I do get things like toffee and a smoothness that Id associate with lagers, but this is a Kristalweizen. Actually like quintuple checked every word on the bottle, because it didnt seem right. Its light bodied and drinkable.

The best word I can think of is muddled. Theyve got the right idea with some clove and banana sneaking in late, but its just sutck in the mire with the sweet adjuncts.

Just an epic fail all around
